DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice - 7/13/18

Hi Everyone. We had a decent night last night as our team put up a solid 141 points which allowed us to cash in our 50/50’s, however, we did just miss out in the GPP’s. Scherzer wasn’t as good as expected as he only got us 37-points, however, we had big games by Jordy Mercer (32.2 points) and Teoscar Hernandez (25.2 points) that allowed us to walk away with some cash in the pockets. Let’s take a look at tonight’s “main slate” that starts at 7:15.

On the mound tonight, we’re going to go with the Giants Madison Bumgarner (P) who has a nice matchup against the Oakland Athletics. Bumgarner was hit hard in his last outing against the Cardinals, however, has overall looked solid since returning from injury and is currently posting a 3.09 ERA and 1.21 WHIP. Bumgarner hasn’t be piling up the K’s so far this season as he has just a 7.4 K/9 ratio, but the matchup is solid as Oakland ranks 18th in MLB in team strikeout rate and 23rd in team batting average (.232) vs. LHP. Bumgarner is holding his opponents to just a .235 average on the season and we’ve seen Oakland struggle against strong LHP earlier this season as we saw James Paxton of the Mariners throw for 16 K’s over 7 innings against the A’s earlier this season.

On the offensive side of the ball, we’re going to start by stacking some of the Texas Rangers in their great matchup against the struggling RHP Alex Cobb of the Baltimore Orioles. Cobb has just not been able to figure things out this year and comes into this game with a 6.67 ERA and 1.62 WHIP while allowing opponents to hit .318 against. For the Rangers, we’re going to be going with Rougned Odor (2B), Elvis Andrus (SS), and Shin-Soo Choo (OF). Odor has hits in five straight games and has been hitting ball well as of late as over the past week, he is hitting .333 with 2 HR’s. Odor has HR-upside and all 6 of his HR’s this season have been against RHP. Andrus looks like he is starting to find his rhythm at the plate after missing about two months’ worth of time due to injury as over his last two games, he 4 for 10 with two doubles and a SB. Andrus has had success against Cobb as in 12 career AB’s vs. the RHP, he has posted a .333 average with a double and HR. Choo has been great this season, posting a .290 average with 17 HR’s and 42 RBI’s. Choo has a .965 OPS vs. RHP on the season and is 5 for 12 lifetime against Cobb with a HR.

We spent up for some Colorado bats tonight at Coors Field as we really like the matchups that Charlie Blackmon (OF) and Carlos Gonzalez (Utility) have against Seattle’s Christian Bergman. Bergman made a spot start earlier this season and pitched very well against the Rangers, however, he really hasn’t been anything special down at Triple-A this season as in 18 starts, he has posted a 4.78 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. Blackmon is starting to find the form that made him an MVP candidate last season as over the past week he has posted a .346 average with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s. Blackmon has a .871 OPS vs. RHP on the season and is hitting .317 at Coors Field this year. Gonzalez has also been swinging a hot bat as he has posted a .364 average with 3 HR’s and 10 RBI’s over the past week. Gonzalez has a .981 OPS at Coors Field this season and has posted a respectable .294 average vs. RHP on the year.

Marlins Park isn’t the greatest field for hitters, however, I’m not scared to roster Maikel Franco (3B) and Rhys Hoskins (OF) in their matchup against Wei-Yin Chen who comes into this game with a 6.14 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Chen is coming off a game against the Nationals in which he gave up 7 runs and although he has been solid at home this season, he is still allowing RHB’s to post a .302 average, .522 slugging percentage, and .896 OPS. Franco has earned his way back into the starting lineup for the Phillies and is hitting .357 with 2 HR’s over the past week. Franco has been outstanding against Chen in his career as he has posted a .438 average and a 1.313 OPS (2 HR’s) in 16 career AB’s. Hoskins has some of the best pure power in the game and comes into this game with 14 HR’s and 56 RBI’s on the year. Hoskins is hitting .294 over the past week and has posted a solid .838 OPS on the road this season.

Rounding out the lineup today with be the Royals Lucas Duda (1B) who had a nice matchup against the RHP James Shields of the Chicago White Sox. Shields just got rocked by the Astros (5.2 IP, 10 H, 8 ER, 2 HR) and has given up 11 HR’s in his last 8 starts. Duda is hitting just .238 on the season but has great HR-upside as he has a ton of power. Duda has had success against Shields in the past as in 12 career AB’s he is hitting .333 against shield with 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s.

Please check back late as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.

Good Luck!
