DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/14/18
Update (6:46 PM) - Lineup is confirmed and we're good to go! Good Luck!
It was an interesting night for my DraftKings team as after releasing my updated lineup, which took out Kole Calhoun, I forgot to save my changes and still ended up having Calhoun who had a monster 28-point performance. With solid outings by Madison Bumgarner (21.9 points) and Dallas Keuchel (21.3) with good offensive performances by Carlos Gonzalez (21 points), Whit Merrifield (14 points), and Maikel Franco (14 points), we were able to cash both in our 50/50’s and GPP’s. Let’s continue to cash as we take a look at tonight’s 7:15 PM slate!
On the mound tonight, we’re going to go with the Cubs Kyle Hendricks (P) and will be taking a chance with the Rockies Jon Gray (P) at home. Hendricks has a great matchup against the San Diego Padres tonight and although Hendricks really struggled in the month of June, posting a 7.03 ERA over five starts, he has looked better over his last two starts and is coming off a gem agianst the Giants in which he went 8.1 innings, giving up no runs while striking out 8. Henricks match-up against the Padres is what really stands out today as the Padres come into this game rank 26th in MLB average (.232 average) and 28th in team strikeout rate. Hendricks is holding opponents to just a .244 average and has had some success against the current Padres roster as he is holding them to just a .226 average. Gray will be making his first start with the Rockies since being demoted to Triple-A and although he is a huge risk, certainly has the upside with his 11.6 K/9 ratio to have a big payoff. Gray has been much better during “night” games this season, posting a just a 4.76 ERA and as he will have the motivation to pitch well to stay in the majors, I’m ok taking a chance with the right-hander tonight.
We’re going to start our offense with a Baltimore stack agianst the LHP Martin Perez of the Texas Rangers who will be making his first start since April due to an elbow injury. Perez really struggled in five starts this year as he comes into this game with a 9.67 ERA and 2.37 WHIP. Perez has given up 7 HR’s in just 22.1 IP on the season and has really struggled against the Orioles roster as he is allowing them to post .316 average and a .904 OPS. For the Orioles, we’re going to be stacking Jonathan Schoop (2B), Manny Machado (SS), Danny Valencia (OF) and Trey Mancini (OF). Schoop has really picked it up as of late as he is hitting .382 over the past week with 5 doubles. Schoop has hits in 11 of his past 12 games and has a .400 (4 for 10) career average with a HR vs. Perez. Machado has been a monster this season, hitting 23 HR’s and is hitting .345 over the past week. Machado is hitting .357 with 16 HR’s at home this season and has a .313 average/.984 OPS vs. Perez in 16 career AB’s. It’s been a struggle for Valencia as of late, however, he has posted a .289 average/.895 OPS vs. LHP on the season and has a .308 average (8 for 26) with a HR against Perez in his career. Mancini continues to struggle this season, but we do like his HR-upside as he 12 HR’s on the season. Mancini posted a .293 average vs. LHP last season and is 3 for 5 in his career vs. Perez.
We’re going back out to Coors Field tonight as we were able to afford Ian Desmond (C/1B), Nolan Arenado (3B), and Carlos Gonzalez (OF) in their matchup agianst Seattle’s LHP Wade LeBlanc. Desmond is hitting just .228 on the season but has shown some great power numbers this season as he has 18 HR’s and 55 RBI’s on the year. Desmond is hitting .333 over the past week, has a .915 OPS vs. LHP, and is 3 for 9 with three doubles against LeBlanc in his career. Arenado has crushed LHP this season to the tune of a .407 average, .805 slugging percentage, and a 1.305 OPS and you have to love him in this matchup at home where he has posted a .361 average and a 1.132 OPS. Arenado is 2 for 4 in his career against LeBlanc and you have to like his chances for a HR as Leblanc gave up 3 HR’s in his outing last week at home against the Rockies. Gonzalez has been on a tear as of late, posting a .450 average with 3 HR’s over the past week. Gonzalez has posted a .533 average (8 for 15) against Seattle this season and has a .378 average in the month of July. Gonzalez has been great agianst LeBlanc as in his career he is hitting .333 (6 for 18) against him with 2 doubles and 3 HR’s.
Rounding out the lineup today will be and Buster Posey (Utility) of the Giants. Posey will be up agianst the LHP Brett Anderson of the Oakland Athletics tonight who although looked good in his last start after missing about two months due to injury, is still posting a 5.75 ERA and 1.77 WHIP on the year. Posey has five hits over his past two games and has been great at home this season, posting a .326 average. Posey has a .302 average and .888 OPS vs. LHP on the season and should have some success tonight as Anderson is allowing RHB’s to post a .338 average, .569 slugging percentage, and a .955 OPS.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
