DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/21/18
Update (6:03 PM) - Lineup has been updated and is confirmed! Image has been updated below. Good Luck!
We had a great start to the 2nd half of the MLB season with our MLB DraftKings lineup as we easily cashed in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s after putting up a solid 169.80-point performance. We had solid pitching performances by Danny Duffy (20.95) and Sam Giglio (19.85) and our Cleveland (Encarnacion, Lindor, Ramirez) and Arizona (Pollock, Peralta) stacks combined for an incredible 111 points. Let’s keep this momentum going for tonight’s main slate at 7:05 PM.
I’m going to go with some value tonight on the mound as we’re going to roster Oakland’s Trevor Cahill (P) and the Cardinals John Gant (P). Cahill missed about 6 weeks of action in June/July and made on rocky start agianst the Astros prior to the All-Star break, however, the veteran RHP has looked good this season as he has posted a 3.10 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Cahill has a solid 8.6 K/9 ratio and faces a very streaky Giants offense that will not one of their best LHB’s in Brandon Belt. Cahill has been outstanding at home this season as he has posted a 0.64 ERA in 4 starts and is holding opponents to a .214 average overall. Gant has been solid for the Cardinals this season in 12 total appearances (6 starts, 6 relief) and comes into this matchup with a 3.49 ERA and 1.12 WHIP. Gant has a respectable 7.9 K/9 ratio and the Cubs showed yesterday that they can pile up the K’s as they struck out 14 times yesterday in their 18-5 loss yesterday. Gant is holding opponents to just a .183 average on the season and I really like this matchup tonight as the wind is blowing in (15-20 mph) which should help keep the ball in the park at Wrigley tonight.
We stacked the Indians last night and we’re going right back to them tonight as they have a nice matchup against the RHP Bartolo Colon of the Texas Rangers. Colon comes into this game with a 4.64 ERA and 1.21 WHIP and although he has pitched well as of late, he still is giving up HR’s in bunches as he comes into this game with a 1.9 HR/9 ratio. For our Indians stack, we’re going to go with the big bats of Edwin Encarnacion (C/1B), Jose Ramirez (3B), Francisco Lindor (SS), and Tyler Naquin (OF). Encarnacion had a nice 3-hit performance last night and still has great power as he comes into this game with 22 HR’s and 66 RBI’s. Ramirez leads all of MLB with 30 HR’s and has been on an absolute tear as of late as he has collected at least 2 hits in 6 of his last 7 games. Ramirez is hitting .353 with a 1.059 OPS against the Rangers this season. Lindor displayed his speed last night with 2 SB’s and we all know he is the complete package as on the season he is hitting .292 with 25 HR’s and 62 RBI’s. All of Lindor’s power has come as an LHB this season as 20 of his 25 HR’s have come from the left side of the plate. Naquin is hitting .269 on the season with 2 HR’s and 20 RBI’s but I don’t mind him tonight in this matchup as he does have enough pop in his bat to get us a HR. Naquin is hitting .299 in night games this season and should have some opportunities with runner on board against Colon tonight.
We are going to stack some of the Minnesota Twins with Mitch Garver (C), Eddie Rosario (OF) and Brian Dozier (2B) as we love the matchup they have against the RHP Jakob Junis of the Kansas Royals. Junis is coming off the 10-day DL due to a back injury and has really struggled this season as he comes into this game with a 5.13 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP. Junis posted a 7.14 ERA in the month of June and has been even worse in the month of July, posting a 13.50 ERA. Junis has been crushed by the HR ball this season, posting a 2.1 HR/9 ratio. Garver is more of a “punt” play in this matchup however, we could do worse as the catcher does have some pop in his pop in his bat and has 4 HR’s on the year. Garver had a triple last night and has been much better vs. RHP on the season, posting a .278 average and .814 OPS. Rosario is having a great season, as he is posting a .310 average with 19 HR’s and 61 RBI’s. Rosario is on an 8-game hitting streak and has posted a .322 average and .945 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Dozier still has some great power as he has 16 HR’s on the season and has been great against Kansas City this season posting a .300 average with 3 HR’s.
Rounding out the lineup tonight with be Arizona’s Steven Souza Jr. (OF) as he makes a decent value play agianst Colorado’s LHP Kyle Freeland. Freeland has pitched outstanding as of late, however, has actually been worse on the road this season and has been nothing more than average against the Diamondbacks, coming to this game with a 3.97 ERA against them this season in two starts. Souza Jr. has gotten off to a slow start with Diamondbacks this season but there is no denying the HR-upside that Souza Jr. has. Souza Jr has posted a .308 average in 26 AB’s vs LHP on the season and he has some extra value as he has been batting in the heart of the Arizona lineup.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
