DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/23/18
Update (5:08 PM) - Hi Everyone! Had to make some adjustments to replace Goodrum and Diaz! The image has been updated with my confirmed lineup for tongiht! Good Luck!
Hi everyone! We ended the week on a high note as our “main slate” team hit in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s with a solid 170.9-point performance. Chris Sale was once again dominant on the mound, providing us with a solid 55-point performance and we got huge games from Matt Kemp (43.6 Points), Yangervis Solarte (31.7 Points), and Randal Grichuk (28.2 Points) to lead the way for our offensive. We have 13 games on tonight’s 7:05 “main slate” and let’s see who we’re initially looking at today!
On the mound, I’m tempted to go with the LHP Eric Lauer of the Padres in his matchup against Mets who have really struggled against left-hand pitcher, however, I’m going to spend up and go with the Yankees Luis Severino (P) of the New York Yankees. Severino had a couple of rough performances going into the all-star break, however, he has been outstanding throughout the year and comes into his game with a 2.31 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP. Severino can hit 100 mph on his fastball and has a devasting slider which has helped him to compile an impressive 10.1 K/9 ratio on the season. Severino will be at the pitching friendly Tropicana Field tonight and has been outstanding against Tampa Bay this season (2 GP, 15.1 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 16 K). Severino is holding the Rays this season to just a .160 average and as I think he’ll be firing on all cylinders coming off the all-star break, I think Severino can put up 60+ points tonight.
We ended up stacking the Blue Jays yesterday, which paid off with a few big performances by Yangervis Solarte and Randal Grichuk and we’re going to go right back to them at home in a nice matchup against the Twins LHP Adalberto Mejia. Mejia posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.57 WHIP last year in 21 stars and looked really shaky in his only start this season against the Cubs in late June (4.0 IP, 6 H, 3 BB, 4 ER). For the Blue Jays, we’re going to be stacking Aledmys Diaz (SS), Teoscar Hernandez (OF), Randal Grichuk (OF), and Kendrys Morales (Utility). Diaz is more of a “punt” play at just $2,500, however, does bring HR-upside to this matchup as he has 9 HR’s on the season. Diaz has been hot since the all-star break, posting as he went 6 for 11 (.545 average) in the Blue Jays recent series against the Orioles. Hernandez has been a nice surprise for the Blue Jays this season, posting 15 HR’s and has an impressive .561 slugging percentage/.863 OPS vs. LHP on the season. Grichuk has been one of the better Blue Jays players over the past month and we love his value now that he is hitting more at the top of the lineup. Grichuk has 11 HR’s since the beginning of June and has posted a .570 slugging percentage/.886 OPS at home this season. Morales still has some pop in his bat and has been outstanding vs. the Twins this season as he is 4 for 10 with 2 HR’s and 4 BB’s.
We’re going to be going out to Cincinnati and spending up for Joey Votto (C/1B) and Jessie Winker (OF) as the Reds LHB’s have a nice matchup against the Cardinals Daniel Poncedeleon. Poncedeleon will be making his MLB debut tonight and although he has pitched well for Triple-A Memphis, taking on the Reds at home will be a challenge as the Reds rank in the top-10 in baseball in terms of batting average vs. RHP (.251 average). Votto is having a decent season as he comes into this game with a .284 average, 9 HR’s and 50 RBI’s and although he has had a rough July, this is still one of the better hitters in the game and has posted a .318 average/.932 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Winker is having a solid rookie campaign as he has posted a .300 average with 7 HR’s and 43 RBI’s. Winker hit in the 5-hole last night which is a great spot for DFS and has been outstanding at home this season, posting a .331 average/.953 OPS.
Rounding out the team tonight will be Detroit’s Niko Goodrum (2B) and the Rangers Adrian Beltre (3B). Goodrum and the Tigers have a decent matchup against the Royals RHP Heath Fillmyer who comes into this game with a 3.45 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 15.2 IP on the season. Goodrum has HR power as he has collected 9 HR’s on the season and has hit 8 of his 9 HR’s as an LHB. Goodrum has some speed to get us a SB if he can get on base and as Fillmyer doesn’t have an overpowering arsenal, I think Goodrum can have a decent night at an affordable price. Beltre has a nice matchup against Oakland’s Brett Anderson who has a 6.08 ERA/1.86 WHIP on the season and is coming off a game against the Giants in which he lasted just 3.1 IP while giving up 8 hits and 3 ER’s. Beltre is hitting .288 on the season and has owned Anderson in his career as in 19 career AB’s vs. the LHP, he has posted a .368 average with 2 HR’s and 6 BB’s.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
