DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/25/18

Update (6:18 PM) - Had to make some adjustments as Lucroy didn't get the start. I'm updated the image below with my "confirmed team" of the night. Good Luck! (Please note, I stayed away from the BOS/BAL & HOU/COL games as weather looks bad in both).

DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice - 7/25/18

Hi Everyone! We bounced back with a solid 124.85-point performance which allowed to cash in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s! We made some last-minute adjustments once Paxton was scratched and they paid off as we went with Carlos Rodon (30.25 points) and added both Corey Dickerson (21 points), Gregory Polanco (16 points), and George Springer (18 points). We had disappointing outings by Matt Carpenter (2 points) and Jose Altuve (6 points) however, we were all over Eugenio Suarez (18 points) who had his 2nd straight game with a HR. I posted an “Early Only” lineup on our Facebook Page so make sure you check that out if you want to see who were going with this afternoon! As for this article, let’s check out the 4-game “Featured Slate” that starts tonight at 7:05 pm!

I’m once again staying away from the Boston/Baltimore game as the weather is going to be very unpredictable and there is good chance we’ll see multiple delays or even a postponement tonight.

Not many options on the mound tonight, however, I’m going to be paying up the Angels Tyler Skaggs (P) in his matchup against the White Sox, while taking a bigger risk with the Rockies Jon Gray (P) matchup against the Astros at Coors Field. Skaggs has been incredible this season for the Angels as although he has just a 7-6 record, the left-hander comes into this game with a 2.68 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. Skaggs has a solid 9.2 K/9 ratio and will have a decent chance to put up a big strikeout total tonight as the White Sox rank 29th in MLB in team strikeout rate. Outside of Jose Abreu, this will be the first time the White Sox roster has seen Skaggs and they should be worried as the White Sox rank just 21st in batting average vs. LHP. Skaggs is holding opponents just a .245 average on the season and had held opponents to 1 ER or less in 6 of his last 7 games. Gray has struggled this year, as his 5.44 ERA and 1.44 WHIP, got him send to Triple-A not to long ago, however, after getting called back up prior to the All-Star break due to some injuries to the Rockies starting rotation, Gray impressed in his outing against Seattle, going 7.1 IP, giving up just 1 ER while striking out 6. Gray has the arsenal to dominate a game and be a DFS gem as he has a 11.3 K/9 ratio and although this is not an outstanding matchup, the Astros rosters (outside of Josh Reddick) really haven’t seen much of Gray in their careers. Gray has actually been better at home this season and as I think he is pitching with a little more purpose as of late, I’m ok with taking a chance with him tonight.

On the offensive end tonight, we’re going to start off with an Oakland Athletics stack against the Texas Rangers LHP Martin Perez. Perez comes into this game with an 8.05 ERA, 2.08 WHIP and HR/9 ratio of 2.3. Perez was just lit up by the Indians in his last start (5.1 IP, 10 H, 6 ER, 2 HR) and is allowing opponents to hit .376 against him on the season. For the A’s, we’re going to be stacking Jonathan Lucroy (C), Jed Lowrie (2B), Marcus Semien (SS), and Stephen Piscotty (OF). Lucroy hasn’t done much at the plate this season as he is hitting just .243 with 2 HR’s and 32 RBI’s, however, he has been giving his old team a bunch of trouble in this series as over the last two nights, he is 3 for 8 with a double, HR, 4 RBI’s and 2 BB’s. Lucroy is 1 for 3 lifetime against Perez and has fared much better against LHP this season. Lowrie broke out of a recent slump in a big way last night (3 for 5 w/ a HR) and is having a solid season at the plate, posting a .280 average with 17 HR’s and 65 RBI’s. Lowrie has had a ton of success against Perez in his career, posting a .379 average in 29 career AB’s. Semien has also had a nice series so far against the Rangers (3 for 11, 2 2B, 4 RBI’s) and has been much better vs. LHP over the past three seasons, posting a .803 OPS. Piscotty is having a solid month of July, hitting .297 with 7 HR’s and comes into this game with 14 HR’s on the season. Piscotty has fared well against Perez in limited action as he is 2 for 5 with a HR against the LHP. Oakland has put up 28 runs over the first two games of the series and there is no reason to think that they won’t be able to put another big number on the board tonight.

We are also going with a small Los Angeles Angels stack on the offensive side as not only will be rooting for some run support for Tyler Skaggs, the Angels have one of the better matchups tonight against the RHP James Shields of the White Sox. Shields hasn’t been as bad as expected this year, as he has a respectable 4.26 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, however, the veteran RHP still can give up HR’s in bunches and has a tendency to have real bad games here and there as he showed against the Astros a few starts ago (5.2 IP, 10 HR, 8 ER, 2 HR). For the Angels, we’re going to rostering Luis Valbuena (3B), Kole Calhoun (OF), and Mike Trout (OF). Valbuena is hitting just .202 on the season, however, he has great HR upside and has 9 HR’s on the season. Valbuena should be in the lineup as Shields is an RHP and makes a solid punt play option to pay up elsewhere tonight. Calhoun is still hitting just .189 on the season, however, he has been a different player since returning from the DL a few weeks ago and is having a solid month of July in which he is hitting .283 with 7 HR’s and 15 RBI’s. Calhoun hasn’t had much success against Shields, however, he is much better against RHP and we like his DFS value as he has been hitting a top of lineup against RHP as of late. We don’t have to say much about how good Mike Trout is, but we will anyway, as the MLB star comes into this game with a .305 average, 26 HR’s, 54 RBI’s, and 19 SB’s. Trout is 3 for 11 lifetime against Shields with a triple and 2 HR’s.

Rounding out the lineup tonight with be the Rangers Joey Gallo (1B) in his matchup against the RHP Edwin Jackson of the Oakland Athletics. Jackson has actually been pretty impressive in his 5 starts of the A’s as he has yet to allowed more than 3 ER’s in any of those starts. At the same time, he has given up 4 HR’s to LHB’s on the season and you have to expect that Jackson could get hit real hard by the LHB’s of the Rangers tonight. Gallo is hitting just .188 on the season however, he can always can put up a big point today as he comes into this matchup with 25 HR’s and 55 RBI’s. Gallo has fared well against Oakland this season, hitting .243 (which is great for him….) with 4 HR’s and has been great at home this season, hitting 15 HR’s at Globe Life Park in Arlington.

Please check back late as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.

Good Luck.
