DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 7/28/18
Update (5:38 PM) - Lineup is confirmed and go to go! Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! We ended with a 112.9 point performance yesterday that allowed us to cash in my 50/50 but came up just short in the GPP’s. Our pitchers didn’t do anything spectacular, however, they did get us some decent points as Wade LeBlanc (14.7 points) and Marcus Stroman (16.2 points). We didn’t get some great performances by Carlos Santana or J.D. Martinez, however, we were able to cash as we got big games by David Freese (32 points) and Mookie Betts (21 points). Let’s take a look at the 11-game “featured slate” that starts at 7:05pm tonight!
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with some value against as we’re rostering Lucas Giolito (P) and Jhoulys Chacin (P). Giolito just has too much value to past up at his $4,800 price tag and has a decent matchup agianst the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. Giolito had a rough start to his season, however, has really started to pitch well as of late as over his last three starts, he has given up just 5 ER’s over 19.2 IP. Giolito is holding opponents to just a .246 average and has been pretty solid vs. RHB’s as he is holding them to just a .221 average. Toronto is a decent matchup for Giolito as they rank 22nd in MLB in terms of batting average (.244) vs. RHP. Giolito has struggled with control and HR’s a bit this season, however, there is no denying that has the ability to be a top of the rotation starter and I think he can hit value in this matchup tonight. Chacin has a decent matchup against the San Francisco Giants tonight and has been a very productive pitcher for the Brewers this year as he is posting a 3.58 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. Chacin is holding opponents to just a .228 average on the year and has held the current Giants roster to just a .239 average over his career. Chacin has a 7.2 K/9 ratio on the season and is coming off one of his best starts of the year, as he held the Washington Nationals to just 1 run and 2 hits while striking out 9 over 5.2 IP.
With the money we’re saving on by taking Giolito, we’re able to stack a few Colorado Rockies in Ian Desmond (C/1B), Nolan Arenado (3B), and Trevor Story (SS) in their great matchup and the LHP Brett Anderson of the Oakland Athletics. It’s been a struggle for Anderson this season as he comes into this game with a 5.46 ERA and 1.72 WHIP. Anderson is allowing opponents to hit .341 against him on the season and has been really bad against RHB’s, allowing them to post a .359 average/.565 slugging percentage/.957 OPS. Desmond has really picked his play in July as he is hitting .338 so far in the month and has shown plenty of power this season, as he comes into this game with 19 HR’s and 59 RBI’s. Desmond has seen Anderson before and is 2 for 3 with a HR in his career agianst the left-hander. Arenado has struggled a bit over the past week, however, he still is one of the best players in MLB as he comes into this game with a .308 average with 26 HR’s and 74 RBI’s. Arenado has been great at Coors Field (.362 average/1.121 OPS) and almost a must-play vs. LHP’s as he has posted a .413 average/.857 slugging percentage/1.357 OPS. Story is putting up another solid season for the Rockies as he is hitting .288 on the season with 20 HR’s and 68 RBI’s. Story has a 1.096 OPS at home this season and has also been solid against LHP’s as he has posted a .302 average and .968 OPS agianst them.
We also are going to stack the Houston Astros tonight as we like their match-up at home against Ariel Jurado of the Texas Rangers. Jurado is making a spot start for the Rangers after trading Cole Hamels earlier this week and didn’t look great in his only other action at the MLB level this season, as he gave up 6 hits and 4 ER’s in a start against the Chicago White Sox in mid-May. Jurado has been decent but nothing spectacular at Double-A this season certainly doesn’t have overpowering stuff as he has just a 5.1 K/9 ratio this season. For the Astros, we’re going with Josh Reddick (OF), Kyle Tucker (OF), and Evan Gattis (C). Reddick has been solid at home this season, posting a .291 average, and generally has been real solid agianst the Rangers as over his past three seasons, posting a .301 average and .864 OPS. As we mentioned yesterday, Kyle Tucker hasn’t performed well at the MLB level since being called up however, he is their top-prospect and had a ton of success at the Triple-A level, posting a .304 average with 14 HR’s and 14 SB’s. Tucker will find way at the MLB level and has great value currently at this price. Gattis has a had a tough month of July, however, he broke out of his slump in a big way last night as he went 3 for 3 with a HR in last night’s game vs. the Rangers. Gattis has 20 HR’s and 64 RBI’s on the season and always is a threat for a big game with his HR power.
To complete our infield, we’re going to hope that the White Sox’s Yoan Moncada (2B) can help provide Giolito some run support in his matchup agianst RHP John Axford who is making his first career start in his 9 year career for the Blue Jays tonight. Axford hasn’t been great this year as he currently has a 4.69 ERA on the season and has given up 5 ER’s over his last 2.1 IP. Moncada has been somewhat of a disappointment for the White Sox this season as he is hitting just .230 on the season, however, the talented second baseman does have 13 HR’s and 10 SB’s on the season. Moncada is a switch-hitter who had displayed pretty much all his power from the left-side of the plate and I do like him as a DFS as he has the talent and potential for a 30+ point night on any given night.
Rounding out the outfield and our team tonight with be Matt Kemp (OF) as he will be up against a left-hander in Atlanta’s Max Fried. Fried has been up and down this season in his limited action and comes into this game with a 3.92 ERA and 1.45 WHIP. Fried is allowing RHB’s to post a .262 average and comes into this game with a 1.3 HR/9 ratio. Kemp has been incredible this season as he has posted a .311 average with 17 HR’s and 64 RBI’s. Kemp is hitting .333 over the past week with 2 HR’s and has posted a .318 average/1.018 OPS vs. LHP on the season.
