DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 8/5/18
Hi Everyone! It was a rough night last night as we decided to pay up for some big bats and they certainly didn’t come through as outside Eddie Rosario (16 points), not of our other big bats (Freddie Freeman, Nelson Cruz, and Bryce Harper) failed to reach double digits. We got a decent pitching outing by Freddy Peralta (26.5 points) however, Gomber struggled after a solid 1st inning and could only get us 5-points on the night. Let’s try to end the week on a good note as we take a look at the 1:05 “Main” slate which features 10 games today!
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with a couple of value plays in the Angels Shane Bieber (P) and the Brewers Wade Miley (P). Bieber has a great matchup against the Los Angeles Angels today, as if you look at the Angels lineup, it’s pretty weak today as Trout and Upton aren’t starting. Bieber has a 4.73 ERA on the season and 1.42 WHIP and although he hasn’t pitched well as of late, I do like how he throughs a bunch of strikes and has a decent 8.9 K/9 ratio. Bieber and the Indians should be heavy favorites today as they will be at home, going agianst Deck McGuire, and as Bieber has 25+ point upside, I think he is the play today. Miley is a risky option against the Rockies at home, however, there is no denying the veteran LHP has been outstanding this season as in his 9 starts, he is posting a 1.53 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Miley has had some issues with BB’s, however, is coming off one of his best starts of the season agianst the Dodgers as he went 7 innings, while giving up 0 ER’s on 2 hits. Miley is holding opponents to a .196 average and has yet to give up a run at home this season over two starts.
On the offensive side of things this afternoon, we’re going to be doing large stacks of both the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs as they both have great matchups and two of the higher implied run totals today.
Cleveland will be up against the Angels Deck McGuire who comes into this game with a 6.12 ERA and 1.60 WHIP on the season. McGuire has really struggled this season and has been crushed by the HR ball as he comes into this game with a 2.9 HR/9 ratio. McGuire is allowing his opponents to post a .583 slugging percentage and .949 OPS on the season. For the Indians, we’re going to be rostering Yonder Alonso (1B), Jose Ramirez (3B), Melky Cabrera (OF) and Leonys Martin (OF). Alonso has had a rough start to August, as he is currently hitless for the month, however, I like him in this spot today as he will be hitting out of 5-hole and comes into this game with 18 HR’s and 64 RBI’s. Ramirez is putting up MVP like numbers as he comes into this game with a .300 average, 32 HR’s, and 79 RBI’s. Ramirez has a .666 slugging percentage and 1.096 OPS vs. RHP which included 27 of his 32 HR’s. Cabrera is cheap bat and decent “punt” play in this matchup and had a very good month of July as in limited action (33 AB’s), he posed a .364 average and .915 OPS. Martin has been outstanding since joining his new club, and although he is hitting at the bottom of the order, I like him today as he has posted a .417 average with 2 HR’s over the past week.
The Cubs have the highest implied run total today as the wind is blowing out at Wrigley and we’re going to make sure we have some of the action as we’re rostering Wilson Contreras (C/1B), Javier Baez (2B), Addison Russell (SS) and Albert Almora Jr. (Utility). The Cubs will be up agianst the LHP Joey Lucchesi who although has pitched decent this season, is coming off a tough start agianst Arizona (4.1 IP, 5 ER, 3 HR) and seems to be a bit under the weather as he has his start yesterday pushed back due to a stomach bug. Contreras is hitting .278 with 9 HR’s and 40 RBI’s and has been solid at Wrigley Field this season as he has posted a .304 average with 5 HR’s. Baez has become a star in Chicago and rightfully so as the 2nd baseman has posted a .299 average on the season with 23 HR’s and 84 RBI’s. Baez is hitting .391 over the past week and has a .296 average/.900 OPS vs. LHP on the season. It’s been a disappointing season for Russell as he comes into this game with just a .266 average with 5 HR’s and 36 RBI’s on the season. We like Russell today as although it’s bee a tough season for him, he has fared well agianst LHP as coming into this game he has posted a .301 average/.821 OPS in 93 AB’s vs. LHP. Almora Jr. has been solid in limited action this season as he currently is hitting .299 on the season with 4 HR’s and comes in with some extra value this afternoon as he will be leading off for the Cubs.
