DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 8/10/18

Update (4:43 PM) - Hi Everyone! Sandy Leon is not getting the start tonight, however, I really like Mitch Garver's matchup against Zimmerman as he has been solid agianst RHP on the season and Zimmerman has been giving up a bunch of HR's. Everything is staying the same as we look for big nights from the Boston and Arizona bats. Image is updated below! Good Luck!

DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice - 8/10/18

Hi Everyone! We continued our outstanding week as our 129.8-point performance last night saw us cashing in our 50/50’s and GPP’s for the 3rd consecutive day. We stayed away from the high-priced pitchers which paid off as we got solid performance from both J.A. Happ (25.3 points) and Ian Nova (16.5 points). On the offensive end, Mookie Betts led the way as his cycle got us an impressive 34 points and we got solid contributions from Giancarlo Stanton (14 points), Matt Duffy (12 points), and Willy Adames (10 points). Let’s try to get this winning streak going as we take a look at the 7:05 “featured” slate tonight that features 14 games.

We’re going with the same strategy on the mound tonight as we’re going to pay a mid-range price for Cleveland’s Shane Bieber (P) and take an extremely low-cost option in Pittsburgh’s Clay Holmes (P). Shane Bieber comes into this game with just a 4.58 ERA and 1.42 WHIP, however, he has been a pretty consistent pitcher for the Indians this year as he has lasted at least 5.2 IP, in 9 of his 10 starts and if you remove that one bad start he had agianst Pittsburgh, he is averaging 19.02 DraftKings points per outing. Bieber couldn’t ask for a better matchup tonight as he will be up against the Chicago White Sox who have lost three straight games and averaged just 2 runs/game in their recent series against the Yankees. Bieber has an impressive 9.2 K/9 ratio on the season and as the White Sox rank just 22nd in terms of batting average vs. RHP (.242) and rank dead last in team strikeout rate (9.65/game), I think Bieber can get us around 25 points tonight with 30-point potential if he can pile on the K’s. Holmes will be making his third start for the Pirates tonight agianst the Giants and I don’t hate his matchup agianst the Giants who certainly can struggle offensively. Holmes has a 3.65 ERA on the season over 12.1 IP and was extremely effective in his last start in mid-July as he shut down a very good Milwaukee Brewers (6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 6 K). In 16 starts for Triple-A Indianapolis this season, he has posted a respectable 3.43 ERA over 89.1 IP and has had a solid k/9 ratio of 9.3. The Giants are missing one of their better LHB in Brandon Belt and have been nothing more than average agianst RHP this season, posting a .250 average/.707 OPS. The Giants rank 23rd in team strikeout rate and as I like the Pirates being able to get a win in this one, I think Homes could get us 15-20 points if he can last 5 innings.

There are a lot of decent offensive lines to target tonight, and I’m going to start off with the Boston Red Sox, who have a decent matchup agianst the RHP Dylan Bundy of the Baltimore Orioles. Bundy has looked a bit better as of late, however, he does tend to give up HR’s (2.0 HR/9 ratio) and has really struggled agianst LHB’s allowing them to post a .297 average/.500 slugging %/.864 OPS. Bundy’s numbers agianst the Red Sox aren’t awful, however, in his last outing at home agianst the Red Sox he gave up 3 HR’s (Betts, Benintendi, Martinez) before being saved by a rain out. I’m going to get a full stack of Red Sox in my lineup tonight in Sandy Leon (C), Rafael Devers (3B), Andrew Benintendi (OF), and Mookie Betts (OF). Leon is more of a “punt” play but is just an LHB in a solid matchup in a great hitters park. Leon has enough pop in his bat still to get us a HR and is 4 for 12 (.333 average) with a double and HR agianst Bundy in his career. Devers is hitting just .248 on the season but has shown his power upside as he has 16 HR’s and 54 RBI’s on the season. Devers came back from the DL in great fashion on Wednesday as for a min price on FanDuel, he went 2 for 4 with a double, HR, and 2 RBI’s. Devers has hit 13 of his HR’s vs. RHP’s on the season and has a career .300 average with a HR agianst Bundy. Benintendi’s name is at the top of many of the leaderboards as the Red Sox outfielder comes into this game with a .304 average, 14 HR’s, 67 RBI’s, and 20 SB’s on the season. Benintendi is hitting .391 over the past week and .414 so far in the month of August. Benintendi has a .332 average/.964 OPS vs. RHP’s on the year and is hitting .348 (8 for 23) agianst Bundy in his career. Betts is coming off another incredible game as he hit for the cycle last night against the Blue Jays and currently is hitting .347 on the season with 27 HR’s and 59 RBI’s. Betts has always dominated the Orioles and comes into this game with 3 HR’s agianst Bundy in his career.

For our other mini-stack of the night, we’re going to spend up for Arizona’s Paul Goldschmidt (C/1B) Eduardo Escobar (SS) and David Peralta (OF) as they will be at the very hitters-friendly Great American Ball Part taking on the RHP Andrew DeSclafani of the Cincinnati Reds. DeSclafani is coming off a solid start agianst the Washington Nationals however, it’s still be a struggle for the RHP as he comes into this game with a 4.98 ERA on the season. DeSclafani has posted a 5.65 ERA at home this season and in those games, he is allowing opponents to hit .287 against him. DeSclafani has really struggled against LHB’s as he is allowing them to post a .985 OPS agianst him as he has allowed 11 HR’s in just 115 AB’s vs. LHB. Goldschmidt is starting to heat up agianst as he is hitting .304 over the past week and although he is not an LHB, he has owned DeSclafani as he is 6 for 8 with 2 doubles and HR against the RHP. Goldschmidt has posted a .321 average/1.044 OPS in away games this season and is hitting .333 against the Reds this season. Escobar has been everything the Diamondbacks were hoping for when they acquired him from the Twins as since joining Arizona the switch-hitting shortstop is hitting .333 with 5 doubles and 7 RBI’s in 10 games. Escobar is hitting .348 over the past week and has posted a .914 OPS (13 of his 15 HR’s) vs. RHP on the season. Peralta is having a monster season for the Diamondbacks as he is hitting .306 with 19 HR’s and 58 RBI’s and is coming off a monster series agianst the Phillies as he went 10 for 16 with a double, triple, 2 HR’s and 4 RBI’s. Peralta has a .333 average/.964 OPS vs. RHP’s on the season and is 3 for 6 lifetime agianst DeSclafani.

Rounding out the team tonight will be a value play in the Cardinals Kelton Wong (2B). Wong has a nice matchup agianst the struggling Burch Smith of the Royals who has a 6.41 ERA & 1.53 WHIP on the season and has given up 11 ER’s (3 HR’s) in his last two starts. Wong is hitting just .229 on the season with 7 HR’s and 25 RBI’s, however, has been on a tear over the past 6 weeks as he hit .309 in the month of July and is currently hitting .412 in the month of August. Wong has posted a .719 OPS vs. RHP on the season and has been much better during “night” games, hitting .266.

Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.

Good Luck!
