DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 8/12/18

Update (12:06 PM) - Hi Everyone! Had to make some adjustments to the initial lineup as a few regulars are getting the Sunday off. I've added acouple of solid RHB's of the Yankees in their good matchup at home agianst Martin Perz and still will be hoping that the big bats of the Red Sox can go big against Alex Cobb! I've updated the image below and as always, good luck!

DFS - Fantasy Baseball - MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice - 8/12/18

Hi Everyone!  It was a low-scoring night last night in the MLB “Main” as although out team scored only 99.3 points, we still were able to continue our recent winning streak as it was enough to cash in our 50/50 contests. We got a solid 50-point outing by Trevor Bauer before he was removed from the game early due to a line drive hitting his ankle and although our Houston offensive stack didn’t pay off, solid games by Nick Williams (21.7 points) and Derek Dietrich (9.2 points) got us over the 50/50 cash line. Let’s try to end the week well as we take a look at the 1:05 PM “Main” slate which features 10 games.

Chris Sale & Carlos Carrasco have great matchups on Sunday afternoon, however, as I’m going to be spending up on some bats this afternoon, I’m going to take value in Miami’s Wei-Yin Chen (P) who has a solid matchup agianst the New York Mets. Chen hasn’t had his greatest year as he comes into this game with a 5.48 ERA and 1.43 WHIP, however, he has been outstanding when has been at home at the pitchers friendly Marlins Park, posting a 1.94 ERA in 9 starts. Chen has a great matchup against the Mets who we’ve been exploiting all season when they’ve been up against an LHP as they rank 29th in MLB in batting average vs. LHP (.217 average). Chen is holding the current Mets roster to just a .232 average over his career and is holding opponents at home to just a .193 average. Chen has just a 6.7 K/9 ratio on the season however, as he is averaging 32.0 FanDuel points per home start this season, I like Chen’s value this Sunday afternoon.

With the money that we’re saving, we’re are stacking the heart of the Red Sox lineup in Xander Bogaerts (SS), Mookie Betts (OF), J.D. Martinez (OF), and Andrew Benintendi (OF) in their outstanding matchup agianst Baltimore’s RHP Alex Cobb. It’s been a tough first season in Baltimore for Cobb as he comes into this game with a 3-14 record while posting a 5.55 ERA and 1.51 WHIP. Cobb is allowing his opponents to post a .302 average/.849 OPS against him on the season and has been rocked by the Red Sox in his two starts against them this season, giving up 10 ER’s (3 HR’s) on 20 hits in just 10.0 IP while allowing the Red Sox to hit .435 against him. Bogaerts is having a nice season for the Red Sox as he has 17 HR’s and 72 RBI’s on the season and has been great in this current series agianst the Orioles, hitting .333 with a double, HR, 4 runs scored, and 4 RBI’s. Bogaerts has a .884 OPS (16 of 17 of his HR) vs. RHP and has a career .300 average vs. Cobb. Betts comes into this game with a .351 average with 27 HR’s, 62 RBI’s, and 23 SB’s and has continued his MVP caliber play as over the past week he has posted a .458 average (3 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR). Betts has posted a .375 (9-24) average/1.167 OPS with 2 HR’s vs. Cobb in his career. Martinez continued his incredible season last night with a 2-HR performance and now how an incredible 37 HR’s and 104 RBI’s on the season. Martinez is hitting .423 over the past week and on top of posting a 1.298 OPS against Baltimore on the season, he has a .538 average (7-13)/1.571 OPS vs. Cobb in his career. Benintendi got the night off last night, so he should be well-rested to improve on his .301 average, 15 HR’s, 70 RBI’s and 20 SB’s stat line on the season. Benintendi is hitting .382 so far in the month of August, and has a .388 average/1.227 OPS vs. Baltimore on the season.

Our Houston offensive stack disappointed us yesterday, however, I’m going right back to the Astros tonight as they have one of the better matchups on the slate agianst the RHP Erasmo Ramirez of the Seattle Mariners. Ramirez has only made two starts on the season before he went on the DL due to a shoulder injury and it was pretty for the right hander as over those starts he gave up 11 ER’s on 7 HR’s in just 9.2 IP. Ramirez has allowed his opponents to post a .333 average/.976 slugging percentage/1.332 OPS on the season and has really struggled with HR’s over the past couple of seasons. For the Astros, we’re going to be going with the heart of their current lineup in Evan Gattis (C/1B), Marwin Gonzalez (2B), and Yuli Gurriel (Utility). Gattis has been struggled since the beginning of July and is hitting just .238 on the season, however, he always can go off for a big DFS night as he still has great power and has hit 21 HR’s on the season. Gattis has a .792 OPS vs. RHP on the season and is 4 for 9 with 2 HR’s against Ramirez in his career. Marwin Gonzalez has done a nice job as of late providing offensive production to the banged up Astros lineup as he is hitting .387 so far in the month of August and has posted a .455 average with 2 HR’s over the past week. Gonzalez is a switch-hitter who has shown the majority of the power (7 of 10 HR’s) from the left-side of the plate and has collected hits in 8 of his last 10 games. Gurriel has struggled over the past week, however, he still has had a solid season, posting a .279 average with 6 HR’s and 56 RBI’s.  Gurriel has posted a .283 average at home this season and is 2 for 5 with a HR vs. Ramirez in his career.

Rounding out the team tonight will be Miguel Sano (3B)  as we love his HR upside and matchup against the LHP Matthew Boyd of the Detroit Tigers. Boyd has been up and down this season, however, is coming off a tough start recently agianst the Angels, giving up 4 ER’s (2 HR) on 6 hits in just 5.1 IP. Sano has looked much better since returning the majors and over his last three games, he has posted a .417 average with a double and HR. Sano doesn’t have great numbers against Boyd, but does have a HR agianst him and I’m hoping he can add to that total on Sunday.

Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineups due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.

Good Luck.
