Update (6:05 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some necessary adjustments to the team and have updated the image below! Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! After a solid overall week, we couldn’t end in style yesterday as our 114.6 – point performance was not enough to cash in either our GPP’s or 50/50’s. We got a solid start from Wei-Yin Chen as he hit his 5x value by getting us 34 points, however, our stacked offense didn’t get much production outside of Niko Goodrum (21.7 points) and Giancarlo Stanton (21.7 points). Our Red Sox stack got us 24.5 points which was disappointing as we paid up for both Betts and J.D Martinez and we didn’t really get anything from Miguel Sano or Carlos Correa who combined for just 6.5 points. Let’s try to start this week off well as we take a look at the 7:05 pm “Main Slate” that features 10 games.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to pay for the RHP Luis Severino (P) of the New York Yankees who has a solid matchup agianst the New York Mets. Severino comes into this game with a 3.11 ERA and 1.10 WHIP on the season and although he has looked a lot more hittable since the All-Star break, after getting through a rough 1st inning in his recent start against the White Sox, Severino was solid the rest of the way finishing the game going 7 innings, giving up 3 ER’s while striking out 8. Severino is the top option in my mind tonight due to this matchup against the Mets who comes into this game ranked 25th in team batting average vs. RHP (.233) and 20th in team strikeout rate (8.61 K/game). Severino has been great at home this season, posting a 2.31 ERA while holding opponents to just a .195 average and as he is holding the current Mets roster to just a .182 average (10 for 55) with 22 K’s, I think Severino can hit the 60-point mark tonight.
On the offensive side of the ball, we’re going to start with the 4-man stack of the St. Louis Cardinals agianst the LHP Tommy Milone of the Washington Nationals. Milone has made three starts this season and is comes into this game with a 5.50 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Milone was hit hard in his last outing agianst the Braves (7.0 IP, 10 H, 7 ER, 3 HR) and has really struggled with RHB’s on the season, allowing them to post a .358 average/.642 slugging percentage/1.000 OPS in 53 AB’s this season. For the Cardinals, we’re going to be rostering Jose Martinez (C/1B), Jedd Gyorko (3B), Paul DeJong (SS), and Marcell Ozuna (OF). Martinez is having another solid season for the Cardinals, posting a .299 average with 14 HR’s and 69 RBI’s. Martinez is hitting .361 so far in the month of August and generally hits LHP’s well as coming into this season, he had a .423 average/1.297 OPS vs. LHP in 71 AB’s. Gyorko is hitting just .255 on the season however, has had a nice August in terms of average, as he is hitting .297 for the month. Gyorko has been excellent against LHP on the season, posting a .329 average/1.007 OPS with 5 HR’s in 70 AB’s. DeJong has been on a tear as of late, as over the past week he is hitting .292 with 3 HR’s and 8 RBI’s and should continue to hit right in the middle of the Cardinals lineup. Ozuna is a streaky hitter, however, is on one of his solid streaks as of right now as he has posted a .385 average over the past week. Ozuna is hitting .313 at home this season and has put up an impressive .301 average/.824 OPS vs. LHP on the season.
Completing the infield tonight will be the White Sox’s Yoan Moncada (2B) who will be going up agianst the RHP Artie Lewicki of the Detroit Tigers. Lewicki will be joining the Tigers rotation and it’s safe to say the expectations won’t be high as he comes into tonight’s start with a career 5.08 ERA and 1.71 in the 16 career appearances at the MLB level. Lewicki has struggled agianst LHB’s this season, allowing them to post a .329 average/.880 OPS in 70 AB’s. Moncada has had a disappointing season for the White Sox, however, still has been a decent DFS player at times as he has posted 15 HR’s, 46 RBI’s, and has 11 SB’s. Moncada is a switch-hitter that has shown basically has shown all his power/speed vs. RHP as he comes in with a .765 OPS (14 of 15) HR and has had 10 of his 11 SB’s off right-hander pitchers.
We’re going to be stacking a few Cleveland Indians tonight in Melky Cabrera (OF) and Yonder Alonso (Utility) as they have a nice matchup agianst Homer Bailey of the Cincinnati Reds who current has a 6.19 ERA and 1.59 WHIP on the season. Bailey is allowing LHB’s to post a .282 average/.532 slugging percentage/.875 OPS on the season and has struggled with the HR ball as he has a 1.9 HR/9 ratio. Cabrera has seen more time as of late for the Indians and came through yesterday as he was 2-4 with a 3-run HR. Coming into this season, Cabrera has posted a .287 average vs. RHP and both of his HR’s this season have come as a left-handed batter. Alonso is having a rough August, however, he does have 20 HR’s on the season including two HR’s over the past week. Alonso has a solid .796 slugging percentage vs. RHP and is 3 for 8 lifetime agianst Bailey.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to be paying up for A.J. Pollock (OF). Pollock and the Diamondbacks have a nice matchup against Bartolo Colon of the Texas Rangers who comes into this game with a 5.18 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season. Colon has given up 20 HR’s (4 HR’s) over his last four starts and has had more trouble against RHB’s on the season, allowing them to post a .562 slugging percentage and .858 OPS. Pollock has had a rough month of August, however, this is still a 5-tool player who comes into this game with a .281 average, 15 HR’s, 45 RBI’s, and 10 SB’s on the season. Pollock has posted a .285 average/.848 OPS vs. RHP’s on the season and does have a HR off of Colon in his career.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
