Update (5:56 PM) - Hi Everyone! I decided that we can enough value from the DET/CHW game to get Verlander in the lineup. I like Verlander tonight as the Rockies can strikeout a bunch against RHP and the Astros are in desperite need of a win so I imagine Verlander will be at his best tonight. I've updated the image below and good luck!

Hi Everyone! It was a disappointing night for us last night as our team fell short in both the 50/50’s and GPP’s with a 123.6-point performance. We paid up for pitcher last night in the Yankees Luis Severino and that was a mistake as he just didn’t look like himself and got us only 18 points which was too big of a hole for our offense to dig us out of. On the offensive end, we did get solid production from our Cardinals stack of Jose Martinez (12 Points), Jedd Gyorko (24.7 points), Paul DeJong (18.7 points), and Marcell Ozuna (9.5 points), however, our offense would have needed to have multiple 20+ players to cash due to the poor performance by Severino. Let’s shake off that rough Monday and take a look at the 14-game “Main” slate tonight.

There are plenty of solid arms on the mound tonight however, I’m going to look at going for value with the Blue Jays rookie LHP, Ryan Borucki (P), who comes into this game with an impressive 2.81 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 8 starts this season. Borucki’s only difficult starts have both come agianst the Red Sox, which shouldn’t be surprising, as in his other six starts this season, he has only allowed 7 ER’s in 40.0 IP. Borucki has a nice matchup against the very beatable Kansas City Royals who rank dead last in MLB in runs scored and over the last three games, are hitting just .195 as a team. Borucki doesn’t pile up the K’s as he has just a 6.0 K/9 ratio, however, if he has shown the ability to pitch deep into the games and if he can go at least 6 innings and get about 5 K’s, I think we can see a 35-40 point night from him.

With the money we’re saving on Ryan Borucki, we’re able to go with a stack of Arizona Diamondbacks in their solid matchup agianst the RHP Yovani Gallardo of the Texas Rangers. Gallardo actually had a nice month of July for the Rangers, however, this is the same pitcher that still comes into this matchup with a 6.11 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. Gallardo is allowing opponents to post a .812 OPS against him on the season and has allowed 7 ER’s (3 HR’s) over his last two starts. For the Diamondbacks, we’re going to be stacking Paul Goldschmidt (C/1B), Eduardo Escobar (3B), David Peralta (OF), and A.J. Pollock (OF). Goldschmidt comes into this game with a .283 average, 26 HR’s and 64 RBI’s and has been on a tear the last week, posting a .440 average with 2 HR’s. Goldschmidt is 6 for 12 vs. Gallardo in his career and is posting a .332 average/1.075 OPS on the road this season. Escobar has 17 HR’s and 74 RBI’s on the season and has been a solid addition to the Diamondbacks as he is hitting .300 in his 14 games with them. The switching-hitting Escobar has posted a .285 average/.920 OPS vs. RHP on the season and is hitting .289 in the month of August. Peralta comes into this game with a .302 average with 21 HR’s and 61 RBI’s. Peralta is hitting .375 over the past week with 2 HR’s and is 2 for 6 with a triple agianst Gallardo in his career. Pollock had a solid 2 for 4 performance last night with a double and RBI and is now hitting .284 on the season with 15 HR’s, 46 RBI’s, and 10 SB. Pollock has posted a .290 average vs. RHP’s on the season and has a .429 career average against Gallardo in 7 AB’s.

We have a mini-stack of Cleveland Indians tonight as they have a nice matchup in Cincinnati against the RHP Sal Romano of the Reds. Romano has pitched better as of late, however, he still has a 4.94 ERA and 1.39 WHIP on the season and has given up a bunch of HR’s as he has a 1.5 HR/9 ratio. Romano has really struggled with LHB’s on the season allowing them to post a .294 average and .887 OPS agianst him. Lindor has the highest upside of any shortstop on the slate tonight and comes into this game with a .294 average with 29 HR’s, 74 RBI’s, and 19 SB. For the Indians, we’re going to be rostering Francisco Lindor (SS) and Yandy Diaz (Utility). Lindor has just a .267 average vs. RHP on the season, however, most of his power has come from that side of the plate as he has posted 24 of his 29 HR’s vs. RHP. Yandy Diaz was recently called up with Edwin Encarnacion going on the DL and he hasn’t disappointed as in his last two games, he has gone 4 for 6 with a double and 3 RBI’s. Diaz is an incredible 11 for 20 in his limited time at the MLB level this season and as if he gets the start tonight, should be in a good spot agianst Romano for an affordable price.

Rounding out the team tonight will be another mini-stack as we’re going to be going with the Tigers Niko Goodrum (2B) and Nicholas Castellanos (OF) in their matchup agianst the RHP Lucas Giolito. Giolito has shown some flashes this season of his potential, however, the overall product has been disappointing as the RHP comes into this game with a 6.23 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Giolito has struggled with the Tigers this season, posting an 8.18 ERA in his two starts against them and has really been hurt by the HR ball throughout his career as he currently has a career HR/9 ratio of 1.7. Goodrum is hitting just .231 on the season, but does have some nice pop in his bat as he has collected 12 HR’s this season. Goodrum has 2 HR’s and 5 RBI’s over his last 4 games and we like his opportunity to hit for power tonight agianst Giolito who is allowing LHP to post a .858 OPS against him. Castellanos has been on a tear as of late as over the past week, he is hitting .429 which includes an impressive 5 for 5 performance last night with a HR and 5 RBI’s. Castellanos has multiple HR’s against Giolito in his career, and I like him tonight as he is hitting .419 against the White Sox on the season.

Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.

Good Luck!
