DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 8/27/18
Update (5:36 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some adjustments to the lineup. We decided to save money at 1B as Voit is a very resaonbale price hitting clean-up tonight for the Yankees which allowed us to pay up for both Altuve and Springer against Brett Anderson who although is pitching well as of late, really struggled against Houston eariler this season (3.0 IP, 10 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, 1 HR). Image is updated below and good luck!
Hi Everyone! It was a decent day for us on DraftKings yesterday afternoon as although we didn’t cash in our GPP’s, our 122.2-point performance allowed us to cash in our 50/50’s. We were led yesterday by solid pitching performances by Michael Kopech (18.1 points) and Blake Snell (29.1 points). Our Mets stack disappointed us in a good match-up, however we did get some solid offensive production by Jonathan Schoop (19 points), Avisail Garcia (14 points), Omar Narvaez (14 points), and Daniel Murphy (12 points). Let’s keep the winning going and start this week off on a right note as we look at the 7-game “Featured” slate that starts at 7:05 PM tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be rolling with the Yankees Masahiro Tanaka (P) and the Rockies Jon Gray (P). Tanaka comes into this game tonight with a 3.90 ERA and 1.11 WHIP on the season and has pitched very well since the All- Star break as the right-hander has posted a 2.45 ERA in 6 starts. Tanaka is holding opponents to a .231 average on the season and has a great matchup against the Chicago White Sox who come into this game ranked 22nd in MLB in terms of team batting average vs. RHP (.244). Tanaka can give up some HR’s if he leaves his splitter up in the zone, however, he also generates a solid amount of K’s as he has a 9.1 K/9 ratio on the season and he couldn’t get a better matchup tonight in terms of strikeouts as White Sox rank dead last in team strikeout rate at 9.64 K/game. Gray will be up agianst the Los Angeles Angels tonight and although he comes into this match-up with a 4.67 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, Gray has pitched much better since the beginning of July and currently is sporting a 2.83 ERA since the All-Star break while holding his opponents to just a .185 average. Gray is always worth a look in the DFS world as he has a great K/9 ratio of 10.4 and will be up agianst a team in the Angels that outside of Trout and Ohtani, don’t currently pose too much of a threat on the offensive end. Gray has had success in a limited data sample against the current Angels roster as he has held them to just a .154 average (4-26) with 10 K’s and as he has been equally tough on both LHB’s and RHB’s, I like Gray at this price tonight.
Washington showed us yesterday with their offensive explosion late in their game agianst Mets yesterday (14 runs combined in the 8th and 9th) inning, that they can put up offense in a hurry and I like their chances to continue that tonight agianst Philadelphia’s Zac Eflin. Eflin comes into this game with a 3.93 ERA on the season, however, has struggled as of late as over his last 6 starts, he has a 5.63 ERA while allowing opponents to post a .292 average against him. Eflin recently got hit rocked by the Nationals as he lasted just 3.1 innings while giving up 4 ER’s on 10 hits last Wednesday. For the Nationals, we’re going to stack Ryan Zimmerman (Utility), Adam Eaton (OF) and Juan Soto (OF).Zimmerman is hitting just .255 on the season however, has shown some good power this year as he has 12 HR’s in just 59 games played. Over the past month, Zimmerman has posted a .307 average/1.058 OPS and has really hurt the Phillies this season as he is hitting .417 (5-12) against them with 2 HR’s. Eaton comes into game coming off a monster 4 for 6 performance last night with a HR and SB and is now hitting .304 on the season with 5 HR’s, 25 RBI’s and 6 SB. Eaton is hitting .381 over the past week and has posted a .325 average/.862 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Soto comes into this game with an impressive .290 average with 15 HR’s and 47 RBI’s in his rookie season. Soto has posted a .905 OPS vs. RHP on the season and is 2 for 5 with a double agianst Eflin in his career.
We will also have a mini-stack of Toronto Blue Jays tonight as we like Russell Martin (C) and Billy McKinney (OF) in their match-up agianst the RHP David Hess of the Baltimore Orioles. Hess just threw one of his best games of the season against the Blue Jays last Wednesday, however, this is still the same pitcher that comes into this game with a 5.50 ERA and is allowing his opponents to post a .824 OPS agianst him (16 HR’s in 13 starts). Martin has been getting more time at 3B as of last however, still qualifies as a Catcher on DraftKings and makes a decent low-cost option tonight. Martin still has some HR power as he has 10 HR’s on the season and has fared much better on the road this season as he has posted a .246 average with 6 of his 10 HR’s. McKinney has been great in his 10 games played for the Blue Jays as the right-fielder has posted a .370 average with 3 HR's and 9 RBI's for the Blue Jays. McKinney has posted a .400 average/1.340 OPS vs. RHP in 25 AB's this season and had another strong perofrmance yesterday, going 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a BB.
Staying the TOR/BAL matchup, we’re going to be going with a “punt” play in Baltimore’s Tim Beckham (SS) in his match-up agianst Toronto’s RHP Sam Gaviglio. Gaviglio comes into this game with a 4.94 ERA and 1.42 WHIP and like with many of the pitchers we’re going agianst tonight, has struggled since the All-Star break as he has posted a 5.50 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .302 against him. It’s been a disappointing season for Beckham as he comes into this game with just a .219 average, however, we don’t mind taking a chance on him tonight as he does have HR pop in his bat and the wind is blowing out at Camden Yards tonight. Beckham has hit RHP better on this season and does have a HR off Gaviglio in his career.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to get some great value in the CHC/NYM game with Daniel Murphy (2B) and Todd Frazier (3B) as the wind will be blowing out hard tonight at Wrigley Field. Murphy has a tough matchup agianst Noah Syndergaard tonight, however, Syndergaard hasn’t looked like the same pitcher we’ve seen in the past as he has allowed 3 or more ER’s in 4 of his last 5 starts. Murphy is hitting .391 over the past week with 2 HR’s and has been great agianst RHP this season as he has posted a .335 average/.901 OPS against them. Murphy has dominated the Mets since they traded him a few years back as his price is a bit down with this match-up tonight, I think he is a great option. Frazier will be up against Jon Lester tonight and although Lester threw a gem against the Mets earlier this season, he has struggled since the All-Star break as he has posted a 7.08 ERA while allowing opponents to post a .350 average against him. Frazier comes into this game with just a .232 average, however he does have 15 HR’s on the season and is hitting .271 with 5 HR’s so far in the month of August. Frazier has 3 HR’s in his last 5 games and with the conditions being primed for HR’s tonight in Chicago, I think Frazier can continue that trend tonight.
Please check back as we’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
