DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 8/29/18
Update (5:53 PM) - Hi Everyone! Had to make some adjustments as Voit (NYY) isn't starting tonight. I decided just to move Ramos to the C/1B postion and put Sano (MIN) at my Utility. Lineup is confirmed. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! Our GPP lineup didn’t pan out yesterday as our 90-point performance didn’t get the job done in our GPP’s last night. Brian Johnson started off well and only gave up 1 ER for the Red Sox but escaped a bunch of trouble after getting hit hard in the 3rd and 4th innings and was quickly yanked at the start of the 5th inning and was only able to get us 19 points. Our hitters were extremely frustrating last night as although we racked up a decent amount of hits and walks, we didn’t get one extra base hit. Leading the way for our offense was J.D. Martinez (15.4 points), Mookie Betts (15.2 points), and Phillip Ervin (13 points). Let’s get on the winning track this week as we take a look at the 9-game “Main” slate that starts at 7:05 PM.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with the Yankees CC Sabathia (P) in his solid match-up against the Chicago White Sox. Sabathia has been having an outstanding season with the Yankees as the veteran LHP comes into this match-up with a 3.30 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. Sabathia has been outstanding in the month of August, posting a 2.18 ERA over 4 starts while holding his opponents to just a .171 average. We love the match-up Sabathia has tonight as the White Sox rank just 19th in MLB in team batting average vs. LHP (.244) while also ranking dead last in team strikeout rate (9.62 K/game). Sabathia was outstanding in his only outing against the White Sox this season (5.2 IP, 4 H, ER, 12 K) and I don’t see any reason why he can’t put up another solid performance tonight.
We’ll have to keep an eye on the weather but as of this morning, I’m going to be stacking Jason Kipnis (2B), Jose Ramirez (3B), and Francisco Lindor (SS) in their solid match-up agianst the RHP Kohl Stewart of the Minnesota Twins. Stewart has really struggled in his three starts with Twins as he has failed to make it past the 5th inning in any of his starts and is currently posting a 6.94 ERA and 2.14 WHIP. Stewart is allowing his opponents to post a .353 average and .960 OPS against him on the season. Kipnis has had a tough season for the Indians as he is hitting just .226 on the year, however he does have 12 HR’s & 53 RBI’s and is starting to finally swing the bat well as he is hitting .333 over the past week and is 6 for 8 with a double, HR, and 4 RBI’s over his past two games. Ramirez has been slumping a bit as of late, but that is no reason not get him in your lineups tonight as the slugging 3B comes into this game with a .292 average with 37 HR’s and 94 RBI’s on the season. Ramirez is hitting .333 (20 for 60) with 5 HR’s agianst the Twins this season and has posted a .646 slugging percentage/1.069 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Lindor is starting to heat up again as the star shortstop is hitting .321 over the past week which included a solid 4 for 5 performance last night. Lindor comes into this game with a .291 average with 29 HR’s, 78 RBI’s, and 19 SB’s on the season and like Jose Ramirez, has crushed the Twins this season to the tune of a .324 average/1.067 OPS with 6 HR’s and 15 RBI’s.
Completing the infield tonight will be Luke Voit (C/1B) of the New York Yankees in his matchup agianst Reynaldo Lopez of the Chicago White Sox. Lopez comes into this game with a 4.66 ERA and 1.38 WHIP and although he recently pitched well agianst the Yankees, he has been a solid DFS pitcher to go against this season as he has allowed 23 HR’s on the season and is allowing RHB’s to post a .809 OPS against. Voit has been solid since being inserted in the Yankees lineup as the slugging first baseman has posted a .351 average and .995 OPS in 37 AB’s for the Yankees. Voit has great power to get us a HR and has been much better against RHP this season as in 24 AB’s he has posted a .375 average/.750 slugging percentage/1.194 OPS.
Starting off our outfield tonight, we’re going to pay up for the red-hot Christian Yelich (OF) of the Milwaukee Brewers in his match-up against the RHP Matt Harvey of the St. Louis Cardinals. Harvey has pitched well as of late, but still is very hittable and comes into this game with a 4.77 ERA and 1.28 WHIP on the season. In his 8 starts at Great American Ball Park this season, Harvey has allowed 10 HR’s. Yelich has become one of the better players in all of baseball as he comes into this game with a .310 average with 25 HR’s, 72 RBI, and 14 SB. Yelich is hitting .348 with 5 HR’s over the past week and has absolutely destroyed Cincinnati this season as he has posted a .412 average (14-34) with 5 HR’s and 9 RBI’s.
We’re going to be going to the TOR/BAL to complete our outfield tonight as we’re going with the Blue Jays Billy McKinney (OF) and the Orioles Trey Mancini (OF). McKinney will be up agianst the RHP Alex Cobb of the Orioles who although has pitched better as of late, still comes into this game with a 5.00 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. Cobb is allowing his opponents to hit .287 against him on the season and has been absolutely crushed by the Blue Jays this season as in his two starts against them he has posted a 10.38 ERA while giving up 15 hits & 10 ER’s over 8.2 IP. McKinney has been a nice addition to the crowded Blue Jays outfield as in his 12 games this season, he has posted an impressive .353 average with 3 HR’s and 9 RBI’s. In 29 AB’s vs. RHP on the season, McKinney has a .379 average and 1.279 OPS. Mancini will be up agianst the LHP Ryan Borucki who enters this game with a 4.12 ERA and 1.53 WHIP. Borucki had a nice start agianst the Phillies in his last outing, however, has struggled for the most part as of late as in his 5 starts in August, he has posted a 6.00 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .306 against him. Mancini continued his recent surge last night (2-4, 2B, 3B, 2 R, 1 RBI) and is now hitting .333 with 7 extra base hits over the past week. Mancini has 19 HR’s on the season and although he has struggled against LHP on the season, he has shown in the past that he can hit LHP well as he came into this season with a .299 average/.805 OPS vs. LHP in his career.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to be going with Philadelphia’s Wilson Ramos (C) in his matchup against the LHP Gio Gonzalez of the Washington Nationals. Gonzalez has fared well in his career agianst the Phillies but has struggled as of late, posting a 6.84 ERA in the month of August. Gonzalez is allowing RHB’s to post a .281 average and .800 OPS agianst him on the season. Ramos is getting plenty of time off since recently returning from an injury, but has looked phonemical since joining the Phillies as he is 14 for 30 (.467 average) with 6 doubles, 1 HR, and 9 RBI’s since joining the Phillies. Ramos has crushed LHP all season, posting a .337 average/.600 slugging percentage/.960 OPS and expect him to continue that success tonight.
Please check back later as we’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
