DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 9/1/18
Update (6:12 pm) - Hi Everyone! Made some adjustments to update at pitcher as we're going to hope that Berrios has his "A-stuff" in a decent strikeout matchup against the Rangers. I've updated the image below. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! Didn’t have the greatest night last night with our DraftKings lineup as our 96.0 point performance fell short of both our 50/50’s and GPP’s last night. Gomber was a decent pick on FanDuel however, his performance wasn’t as good on DraftKings as he allowed 10 hits and finished with 15.75 points. Framber Valdez (12.25 points) was serviceable for the price however, our offense outside of Matt Carpenter (19 points), Aaron Hicks (18 points), and Jose Martinez (16 points). Let’s try to get back on track on DraftKings as we take a look at the 13-game “Featured” slate that starts at 7:05pm tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be paying up for the Diamondbacks LHP Patrick Corbin (P) and take some major value with Miami’s LHP Wei-Yin Chen (P). Corbin is having a phenomenal season for Arizona this season as the veteran LHP comes into his matchup with the Dodgers tonight with a 3.15 ERA and 1.02 WHIP on the season. Corbin has been pitching well as of late as he has lasted at least 6 innings over his last 8 starts and has a 2.91 ERA since the All-Stark break. Corbin has an incredible 11.0 K/9 ratio on the season and could be in a good night against the Dodgers who rank 23rd in team strikeout rate (8.75 K/game). Corbin has been outstanding against the Dodgers this season as in his three starts, he is holding the Dodgers just a 0.98 ERA and a .115 batting average. Corbin has 24 K’s in 18.1 IP against the Dodgers and Los Angeles has struggled much more agianst LHP on the season, I think Corbin is worth his price tag tonight. Wei-Yin Chen comes into this game with a 4.91 ERA and 1.37 WHIP on the season however, if you see the veteran LHP pitching at Marlins Park, he is worth a good look as in his 11 home starts this season, Chen has posted a remarkable 1.86 ERA while holding opponents to just a .199 average. Chen will be up against the Toronto Blue Jays tonight who rank just 24th in MLB in team batting average vs. LHP (.235) and haven’t been great on the road this season, posting a 27-40 record. Chen has a respectable 7.2 K/9 ratio this season however has, 59 K’s in 63.0 IP at home this season and as he is coming off a masterful 10 K performance against a good Braves team, I like Chen as my SP2 tonight.
If you remember what happened to Baltimore’s Dylan Bundy last time he saw the Kansas City Royals, you’ll understand right away why we’re are going with a 4-man stack of Ryan O’Hearn (C/1B), Whit Merrifield (2B), Hunter Dozier (3B), and Brian Goodwin (OF) tonight. Bundy comes into this game with a 5.37 ERA and 1.39 WHIP and really struggled in the month of August, posting a 9.24 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .368 against him. Bundy has given up 34 HR’s this season (2.2 HR/9 ratio) and in his last start against the Royals in early May, Bundy didn’t even record a single out as he was pulled after giving up 7 ER’s on 5 hits (4 HR’s). O’Hearn comes into this game with a .257 average with 7 HR’s and 19 RBI’s in his 21 games this season and has an impressive .933 OPS on the season. O’Hearn has a .357 average over the past week and had a big night last night, going 3 for 5 with a HR and 4 RBI’s. Merrifield is slowing becoming a star in MLB as he comes into this game with an impressive .310 average with 10 HR’s, 48 RBI’s, and 29 SB’s. Merrifield is hitting .450 (9-20) over the past week and had a monster of August, hitting .358 with 5 HR’s. Dozier is hitting just .228 on the season, however, he does have 8 HR’s on the season and like the rest of the Royals we have going, has been hot as of late, hitting .368 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and a HR over the past week. Dozier has been better agianst RHP on the season and has had three consecutive games of two hits. Goodwin came off the DL last night and I think he has some good value at just $2,200 in this match-up agianst Bundy. Goodwin has a .263 average/.784 OPS vs. RHP on the season and certainly has enough power to have HR-upside.
Completing our infield tonight with be the Marlins J.T. Realmuto (C) and the Rangers Elvis Andrus (SS). Realmuto has an outstanding match-up agianst the RHP Macro Estrada of the Blue Jays who comes into this game with a 5.18 ERA and 1.37 WHIP. Estrada has allowed 8 HR’s over his last 4 starts and has struggled against RHB’s this season as he is allowing them to post a .295 average/.916 OPS. Realmuto has been one of the few bright spots for the Marlins this season as he comes into this game with a .285 average with 17 HR’s and 67 RBI’s. Realmuto is hitting .375 over the past week and has been much better against RHP this season, posting a .307 average/.518 slugging percentage/.882 OPS. Andrus has a tougher matchup against the talented RHP Jose Berrios however, he fit into my lineup with the remaining salary that I had. Berrios hasn’t been that great recently, as he has lasted past the 5 inning and has allowed a HR in each of his last 4 starts. Andrus comes into this game with a .269 average with 4 HR’s and 28 RBI’s on the season and has been solid at home this season, posting a .324 average. Andrus has been solid vs. RHP this season (.284 average) and is 2 for 3 lifetime with a double against Berrios.
Completing the team tonight, we’re going to get some value in the outfield tonight with a pair of Minnesota Twins OF’s in Jake Cave (OF) and Max Kepler (OF) in their match-up against the RHP Yovani Gallardo of the Texas Rangers. Gallardo comes into this game with a 6.01 ERA and 1.56 WHIP on the season, and although he has pitched a bit better as of late, he still finished August with a 5.61 ERA while allowing his opponents to post a .283 average. Gallardo is allowing opponents to post a .826 OPS against him on the season and is currently allowing the Minnesota roster to hit .298 (42-141) against him in his career. Cave has been a nice addition to the Twins this season as he comes into this game with an 8 HR’s and 28 RBI’s in his 64 games played this season. Cave has posted a .278 average/.797 OPS vs. RHP on the season and certainly has the HR-upside in this hitter’s park. Kepler is hitting just .229 on the season however, comes into this solid match-up with 18 HR’s and 47 RBI’s on the season. Kepler has a .286 average against Texas on the season and is 3 for 8 lifetime agianst Gallardo.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
