DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 9/5/18
Update (6:41 PM) - With Ohtani needed Tommy John, there is a good chance he is scratched tonight. I've made my adjustments to be on the safe side. Image is updated below! Good Luck!
Update (6:16 PM) - Hi Everyone! Updated the lineup as Trout is out. Decided to save a little money on pitcher and go with Jose Quintana who has a 2.63 ERA in 4 starts agianst the Brewers this season while holding Milwuake to just a .181 average. We still have a solid amount of PIT and LAA players in their solid match-ups and got Trevor Stroy at Coors agianst a LHP which is always a good thing. Image is updated below. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! Couldn’t keep the winning going last night as our 72.5-point performance wasn’t good enough for us to cash in our 50/50’s or GPP’s. We were spot on going with Cleveland’s Mike Clevinger who had a monster 33.1-point performance, however, the highly owned Lucas Giolito disappointed a lot of DFS players last night as he got rocked in the 2nd inning in his game against the Tigers and finished with -2.6 points. The offense was disappointing as outside of Stephen Piscotty who had a 16-point performance, we didn’t get double digit points from anyone else in our lineup as our White Sox stack did very little and the Cardinals Jose Martinez and Yairo Munoz seemed like the only two St. Louis players that didn’t have a big offense game in their 11-8 victory over Washington. Let’s get back on the winning track as we take a look at the 12-game “featured” stack that starts at 7:05pm tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be rostering the Rays Tyler Glasnow (P) and the Phillies Nick Pivetta (P). Glasnow comes into this game with a 3.95 ERA & 1.23 WHIP on the season and has a decent match-up against the Toronto Blue Jays. Since being traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Glasnow has been a starter for Tampa Bay and has had great results as the has posted a 3.23 ERA over 6 starts and has lasted at least 5 innings in each of his last 4 starts. Glasnow has a great arsenal to cause hitters to swing and miss as he comes into this game with an incredible 11.2 K/9 ratio over his 6 starts with the Rays. Toronto is a below average team when it comes to batting average vs. RHP (.247) and Glasnow looked solid against the Blue Jays in early August as although he will still on a pitch count to help build his arm strength up to be starter, he still lasted 5 innings, giving up just 1 ER on 2 hits while striking out 6. Pivetta is a bit more risker in my opinion than Glasnow, however, he certainly has the same upside in his solid match-up against the Miami Marlins. Pivetta has been hit or miss lately and comes into this game with a 4.66 ERA and 1.30 WHIP on the season. Pivetta always is a solid DFS target in good match-ups as he has overpowering stuff and as K/9 ratio of 10.7. Miami ranks 23rd in MLB in team batting average vs. RHP (.244) and rank 15th in team strikeout rate at 8.45 K/g. Pivetta has looked great agianst Miami this season as in two starts, he has posted a 1.54 ERA while striking out 16 hitters over 11.2 IP.
On the offensive side tonight, we’re going to start off with a stack of the Los Angeles Angels in Jose Fernandez (1B), Taylor Ward (3B) and Mike Trout (Utility) in their great match-up against Bartolo Colon of the Texas Rangers. Colon comes into this game with a 5.45 ERA & 1.30 WHIP on the season and had a real rough month in August as he posted a 7.41 ERA while allowing 5 HR’s in 3 starts. Colon has allowed 29 HR’s on the season and has been hit hard by RHB’s as they’ve posted a .296 average/.602 slugging percentage/.913 OPS against him. Fernandez is more of a “punt” play tonight to save some salary as he comes into this game with a .281 average and 4 RBI’s in 18 games with the Angels this season. With Pujols out of the lineup, Fernandez has been getting regular playing time as of late and has been solid with Triple-A Salt Lake this season as in 91 games, he has posted a .333 average with 17 HR’s. Ward comes into this game with just a .197 average but does have 3 HR’s and 8 RBI’s in his 19 games since being called up. Ward hit an incredible .349 with 14 HR’s and 18 SB’s in 102 games in the minors this season and I think he a great value at this price agianst Colon tonight. Trout comes into this game with a .305 average, 31 HR’s, 63 RBI’s, and 22 SB’s on the season and is almost a must play agianst Colon tonight. Trout has posted a 1.067 OPS on the road this season and is 11 for 20 with 3 HR’s against Colon in his career.
We’re also going to be stacking the Pittsburgh Pirates outfield tonight as we are going to roster Francisco Cervelli (C), Corey Dickerson (OF), and Gregory Polanco (OF) in their plus match-up against the RHP Homer Bailey of the Cincinnati Reds. Bailey comes into this game with a 6.13 ERA & 1.65 WHIP on the season and has allowed at least 3 ER’s in each of his last 5 starts. Bailey has a 2.0 HR/9 ratio on the season and is allowing his opponents to post a .313 average/.550 slugging percentage/.911 OPS against him on the season. Cervelli comes into this game with a .262 average on the season with 11 HR’s and 50 RBI’s. Cervelli has been much better vs. RHP’s this season, posting a .271 average/.850 OPS and is 4 for 10 lifetime agianst Bailey with a double and HR. Dickerson comes into this game with a .291 average with 11 HR’s and 46 RBI’s on the season. Dickerson has struggled a bit as of late, however, is still hitting .390 (23-59) with 5 HR’s agianst the Reds on the season and is 4 for 9 with a triple agianst Bailey in his career. Polanco comes into this game with just a .253 average however, does have 23 HR’s, 80 RBI’s, and 12 SB’s on the season. Polanco is hitting .370 over the past week with 2 HR’s and is 3 for 9 with a HR agianst Bailey in his career.
At second base, we’re going to go with the Tampa Bay rookie, Brandon Lowe (2B), as I feel that he is still so underpriced on DraftKings. Lowe is one of the top Tampa Bay prospects and has a nice match-up agianst the RHP Aaron Sanchez of the Toronto Blue Jays who comes into this game with a 5.22 ERA and 1.63 WHIP. Sanchez posted a 11.88 ERA in his two starts in the month of August and has struggled agianst LHB’s this season allowing them to post a .314 average and .911 OPS agianst him. Lowe is hitting .254 with 3 HR’s and 12 RBI’s in his 21 games with the Rays this season. Lowe have been much better as of late, as he is hitting .375 with 2 HR’s over the past week and has a .862 OPS vs. RHP in 53 AB’s this season.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to be going with the Orioles Tim Beckham (SS) in his solid match-up agianst the RHP Mike Leake of the Seattle Mariners. Leake comes into this game with a 4.25 ERA & 1.30 WHIP on the season and has struggled as of late as over his last two starts, he has allowed 11 ER’s on 18 hits (3 HR’s) over 10.1 IP. Leake has struggled more against RHB’s on the season as he is allowing them to post a .280 average/.815 OPS against him. Beckham is hitting just .228 on the season but does have 10 HR’s and is swinging a hot bat as of late, posting a .375 average over the past week. Beckham has 7 of his 10 HR’s vs. RHP’s on the season and we like how he has been recently been hitting 5th in the Orioles lineup.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
