Update (6:41 PM) - With Ohtani needed Tommy John, there is a good chance he is scratched tonight. I've made my adjustments to be on the safe side. Image is updated below! Good Luck!
Update (6:07 PM) - Hi Everyone! Needed to switch some things around here as Trout is not getting the start tonight. We seitched some things around a got a good core of Colorado Rockies in there to with the solid PIT and LAA match-ups. Image is updated below. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! Couldn’t keep the winning going last night as our 119.0-point performance wasn’t enough as we failed to cash in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s last night. We had a solid start from Verlander (52 points), however, we should have kept with our original pick, Mike Clevinger, who had a monster game and got 55-points at lower cost. Our offense was disappointing as it felt like we had the only two St. Louis Cardinals in their lineup that didn’t do any damage in their 11-8 victory and outside of Lorenzo Cain who had a nice 30.4-point performance, no one else in our offense reached double digits. Let’s get back to it as we take a look at tonight’s 12-game “Main” slate that starts at 7:05pm tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to take some great value with Tampa Bay’s Tyler Glasnow (P). Glasnow comes into this game with a 3.95 ERA & 1.23 WHIP on the season and has a decent match-up against the Toronto Blue Jays. Since being traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates, Glasnow has been a starter for Tampa Bay and has had great results as the has posted a 3.23 ERA over 6 starts and has lasted at least 5 innings in each of his last 4 starts. Glasnow has a great arsenal to cause hitters to swing and miss as he comes into this game with an incredible 11.2 K/9 ratio over his 6 starts with the Rays. Toronto is a below average team when it comes to batting average vs. RHP (.247) and Glasnow looked solid against the Blue Jays in early August as although he will still on a pitch count to help build his arm strength up to be starter, he still lasted 5 innings, giving up just 1 ER on 2 hits while striking out 6.
On the offensive side tonight, we’re going to start off with a stack of the Los Angeles Angels in Taylor Ward (3B), Andrelton Simmons (SS), and Mike Trout (Utility) in their great match-up against Bartolo Colon of the Texas Rangers. Colon comes into this game with a 5.45 ERA & 1.30 WHIP on the season and had a real rough month in August as he posted a 7.41 ERA while allowing 5 HR’s in 3 starts. Colon has allowed 29 HR’s on the season and has been hit hard by RHB’s as they’ve posted a .296 average/.602 slugging percentage/.913 OPS against him. Ward comes into this game with just a .197 average but does have 3 HR’s and 8 RBI’s in his 19 games since being called up. Ward hit an incredible .349 with 14 HR’s and 18 SB’s in 102 games in the minors this season and I think he a great value at this price agianst Colon tonight. Simmons is having a solid season with the Angels as he comes into this game with a .292 average with 9 HR’s and 66 RBI’s. Simmons is hitting .315 on the road this season and has a career .464 average/1.090 OPS vs. Colon in 28 AB’s. Trout comes into this game with a .305 average, 31 HR’s, 63 RBI’s, and 22 SB’s on the season and is almost a must play agianst Colon tonight. Trout has posted a 1.067 OPS on the road this season and is 11 for 20 with 3 HR’s against Colon in his career.
We’re also going to be stacking the Pittsburgh Pirates outfield tonight as we are going to roster Adam Frazier (OF), Corey Dickerson (OF), and Gregory Polanco (OF) in their plus match-up against the RHP Homer Bailey of the Cincinnati Reds. Bailey comes into this game with a 6.13 ERA & 1.65 WHIP on the season and has allowed at least 3 ER’s in each of his last 5 starts. Bailey has a 2.0 HR/9 ratio on the season and is allowing his opponents to post a .313 average/.550 slugging percentage/.911 OPS against him on the season. Frazier comes into this game with a .289 average with 8 HR’s and 28 RBI’s on the season. Frazier is hitting .409 (9-22) over the past week and has been outstanding agianst Cincinnati this season, posting a .412 average against the Reds. Dickerson comes into this game with a .291 average with 11 HR’s and 46 RBI’s on the season. Dickerson has struggled a bit as of late, however, is still hitting .390 (23-59) with 5 HR’s agianst the Reds on the season and is 4 for 9 with a triple agianst Bailey in his career. Polanco comes into this game with just a .253 average however, does have 23 HR’s, 80 RBI’s, and 12 SB’s on the season. Polanco is hitting .370 over the past week with 2 HR’s and is 3 for 9 with a HR agianst Bailey in his career.
We’re going to be paying up for Anthony Rizzo (1B) tonight as we like his match-up agianst the RHP Jhoulys Chacin of the Milwaukee Brewers. Chacin has had a nice season with the Brewers as he has posted a 3.53 ERA and 1.21 WHIP and although he has pitched well agianst the Cubs this year, he still has struggled a bit agianst LHB’s allowed them to post a .263 average and .764 OPS. Rizzo comes into this game with a .283 average with 24 HR’s and 90 RBI’s on the season and is hitting .462 (6 for 13) with 2 HR’s so far in the month of September. Rizzo left last night’s game early after fouling a ball off his foot but it’s already been confirmed that he is going to play tonight due to the fact that this is a pretty big game and I don’t mind paying up for him as he has a .313 average with 2 HR’s in 13 career AB’s against Chacin.
Rounding out the team tonight will be Seattle’s Robinson Cano (2B) in his good matchup against the RHP Andrew Cashner of the Baltimore Orioles. Cashner comes into this game with a 4.86 ERA & 1.53 WHIP on the season and hasn’t pitched well as of late as over his last three starts he has allowed 25 hits (4 HR) and 12 ER’s over 18.1 IP. Cashner is allowing his opponents to post a .827 OPS against him on the season and has a 5.27 ERA on the season. Cano comes into this game with a .287 average with 7 HR’s and 31 RBI’s over 58 games played, however, has looked good as of late as he is hitting .375 with 2 HR’s over the past week. Cano has a .295 average/.839 OPS vs. RHP on the season and has hits in 6 of his last 7 games.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
