DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 9/6/18
Updated (5:47 PM) - Hi Everyone! We had to make some changes as Diaz (CLE) isn't playing tonight and Estrada is not longer going for the Blue Jays. We decided to go with Jose Ramirez as 3B and made some other minor changes to the lineup. Image is updated below! Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! What an interesting night last night. We scrambled prior to first-pitch as we weren’t sure that Ohtani was going to play after a late report stated that the Angels recommended that he has Tommy John Surgery after an MRI showed some additional damage and once the dust settled, we made the mistake of keeping him out of our lineup after he had a monster 47-point night. We did make the correct call in getting Trevor Story in our lineup as he had a 3 HR night and solid 42-point performance, however, as we didn’t get a good performance by Nick Pivetta (9.4 points) and only had one other player in double-digits on the offense in Corey Dickerson (10 points), we fell just short of the 50/50’s with a 115.60-point performance. It’s a small 3-game “featured” slate tonight that starts at 6:40pm so let’s try to get back on the winning track.
We’re going to be hoping for a low-scoring game tonight in the Atlanta/Arizona game as on the mound tonight we’re going with Atlanta’s Anibal Sanchez (P) and Arizona’s Zack Greinke (P). Sanchez has been having a great bounce back season as after posting an ERA over 6.00 in his last two seasons in Detroit, the veteran RHP has been lights out for the Braves this season posting a 2.98 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. Sanchez has been holding his opponents to a .214 average on the season and has done a great job limiting the damage done by HR’s as he has just a 1.1 HR/9 ratio. Sanchez has been better on the road this season, posting a 2.85 ERA and is coming off a solid month of August in which he posted a 2.93 ERA. Sanchez has a respectable 8.8 K/9 ratio and faces a Diamondbacks team that ranks just 29th in team batting average (.233) vs. RHP. Sanchez has a solid outing agianst Arizona earlier this season (6.0 IP, 5 H, ER, 6 K’s) and I think he’ll be able to have success against tonight agianst the Diamondbacks. Greinke continues to be one of the best pitchers in the major leagues as he comes into this game with a solid 2.97 ERA and 1.05 WHIP on the season. Greinke has been lights at home this season, posting a 2.16 ERA while holding opponents to just a .199 average and continues to make hitters miss as he comes into tonight’s game with a 9.0 K/9 ratio. Atlanta has fared well against RHP on the season, however, this is a team that had a long travel night last night after that tough loss agianst the Red Sox and Greinke had no trouble with the Braves earlier this season as he picked up a win against Atlanta after going 7.2 innings, giving up no ER’s on 4 hits, while striking out 7.
We’re going to start our offense with a 4-man stack of the Cleveland Indians in Yan Gomes (C), Edwin Encarnacion (1B), Yandy Diaz (Utility), and Greg Allen (OF) in their match-up against the RHP Marco Estrada of the Toronto Blue Jays. It’s been a tough year for Estrada as he comes into this match-up with a 5.43 ERA and 1.41 WHIP on the season. Estrada is allowing his opponents to post a .855 OPS agianst him on the season and has really been hurt by the HR ball as he has posted a 1.8 HR/9 ratio on the season. Gomes comes into this season with just a .255 average, however, he has shown some decent power as he does have 12 HR’s and 41 RBI’s on the season. Gomes has been better on the road this season, posting a .260 average/.761 OPS and is 1 for 3 with a HR in his career against Estrada. Encarnacion comes into this game with just a .234 average, however, does has 29 HR’s and 94 RBI’s on the season. Encarnacion has been much better agianst RHP’s on the season as he has posted a .502 slugging percentage/.817 OPS and has a .937 OPS at the Rogers Centre over his last past three seasons. Diaz has done nothing bit hit the ball in his 22 games at the MLB level this season and comes into this matchup with a .333 average with a HR and 11 RBI’s. Diaz is hitting .375 over the past week with a triple & HR and is hitting .372 vs. RHP on the season. Allen has slowed down a bit after a great August in which he hit .282, however, the switch-hitter has been a solid contributor in the Indians OF this season and has hit RHP’s much better at a .251 clip this season.
Staying with this match-up, we’re going to be going with the Blue Jays Brett McKinney (OF) in his match-up agianst Shane Bieber of the Indians. Bieber has been solid with the Indians posting a 4.66 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, however, has struggled a bit more as of late, allowing at least 3 ER’s in each of his last 4 starts. Bieber is allowing opponents to hit .296 against him on the season and has really struggled with LHB’s as he has allowed them to post a .326 average/.950 OPS. McKinney has been incredible in his 17 games since being called up as he has posted a .352 average with 4 HR’s and 11 RBI’s. McKinney has been hitting leadoff for the Blue Jays and has posted a .348 average/1.066 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
We’re going to spend up a bit for the Nationals Trea Turner (SS) and Bryce Harper (OF) in their match-up agianst the RHP Kyle Hendricks of the Chicago Cubs. Hendricks comes into this game with a 3.77 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, however, has struggled much more on the road this season, posting a 4.03 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .278 against him. Hendricks allowed 8 hits over 6 IP in his start against the Nationals earlier this season and has just a 4.35 ERA over his last three seasons agianst Washington. Turner comes into this game with a .271 average, 17 HR’s, 58 RBI’s, and 35 SB’s on the season and has been great recently, hitting .385 over the past week. Turner has a .308 average against the Cubs on the season and is hitting .286 at home this season. Harper has had an up and down season this year, however, even though the slugger is hitting just .251 on the season, he still has shown that great power as he has 31 HR’s and 89 RBI’s on the year. Harper has picked it up as of late, hitting .333 over the past week, including going 5 for 9 with 2 doubles, a HR, 5 RBI’s and 6 BB’s in his recent series against the Cardinals and has a career .313 average with a HR in 16 AB’s agianst Hendricks.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to be going with the Cubs Daniel Murphy as he returns to Washington to face off agianst the Nationals RHP Stephen Strasburg. Strasburg hasn’t had his best year with the Nationals as the hard-throwing right-hander comes into this game with a 4.09 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Strasburg had a rough June/July as he allowed 13 ER’s over 3 starts and has struggled at home this season, posting a 5.40 ERA. Murphy comes into this game with a .304 average with 10 HR’s & 36 RBI’s and has been outstanding since the All-Star break, posting a .331 average/.909 OPS in 160 AB’s. Murphy has a .326 average/.894 OPS vs. RHP on the season and as he has a knack of causing trouble to his former teams (ask the New York Mets……), I think he has some great value at his price tonight.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
