DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 9/7/18
Update (6:03 PM) - Hi Everyone! Needed to make some adjustments as C.J. Cron isn't getting the start tonight. We got some solid value with Aaron Altherr as a "punt" play batting 3rd tonight against a LHP who gives up HR's and we ensured we got some action with STL & TB players in their good matchups while keeping our Oakland stack and Blake Snell. Image is updated below! Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! We couldn’t find the cash line last night as our 107.8-point performance didn’t get it done in the GPP’s and feel agonizingly short in our 50/50’s. We didn’t get the great outing from Luis Castillo that we expected agianst the Padres and although we got some solid performances from Jason Kipnis (25.7 points) and Scott Schebler (18.7 points), we went with the wrong Cleveland Indians in the Utility spot as we went with Jose Ramirez (3 points) instead of Francisco Lindor who had a monster 53.6-point performance. Let’s go into this weekend with a win as we look at the 14-game “main” slate that starts at 7:05 tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be paying up for Tampa Bay’s Blake Snell (P) who comes into this game with arguably that best match-up on the slate as he will be up agianst strikeout prone Baltimore Orioles. Snell has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season as he comes into this game with a 2.02 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. Snell has been outstanding as of late, as over his last 6 starts, he has allowed just 4 ER’s. Snell is holding his opponents to just a .186 average and faces a Baltimore team that ranks just 25th in terms of batting average vs. LHP (.233). Snell is posting a solid 10.5 K/9 ratio and could be in for a big strikeout night as Baltimore ranks 21st in MLB in team strikeout rate (8.65 K/game). Snell actually had his worst outing of the season agianst Baltimore earlier this season, however, I’m not concerned about that at all and I think the talented LHP can have a 60-point night.
We’re going to start our offense off tonight with a solid stack of Oakland Athletics in Matt Olson (C/1B), Matt Chapman (3B), and Khris Davis (OF) in their match-up agianst the Rangers RHP Yovani Gallardo. Gallardo comes into this game with a 5.97 ERA and 1.55 WHIP on the season and is currently allowing his opponents to post a .280 average/.833 OPS. Gallardo has posted a 7.24 ERA on the road this season and it could be a rough night tonight as the wind is blowing out to center field tonight at Oakland Coliseum tonight. Olsen comes into this game with just a .237 average however, has some of the best power on the Athletics as he comes into this game with 24 HR’s and 67 RBI’s. Olsen has posted a .796 OPS with 20 of his 24 HR’s vs. RHP on the season. Chapman comes into this game with a .282 average with 22 HR’s and 56 RBI’s on the season and has been on a tear since the All-Star break, posting a .333 average and 1.074 OPS. Chapman is hitting .304 over the past week and has been trouble for Texas this season, posting a .311 average (19-61) against the Rangers with 2 doubles, 3 triples, and 3 HR’s. Davis comes into this game with just a .248 average, however, there is no denying his power as he currently has 40 HR’s and 106 RBI’s on the season. Davis is hitting .302 against Texas this season with 9 HR’s and is 3 for 10 lifetime agianst Gallardo with all 3 hits being HR’s.
We’re also going to have a mini-stack of Tampa Bay Rays tonight in Kevin Kiermaier (OF) and C.J. Cron (Utility) in their good match-up agianst the HR-prone RHP Dylan Bundy of the Baltimore Orioles. Bundy comes into this game with a 5.36 ERA and 1.40 WHIP and is coming off a dreadful month of August as he posted a 9.24 ERA over 5 starts while allowing opponents to hit .368 off him. Bundy has given up an incredible 35 HR’s this season (2.2 HR/9 ratio) and gave up 3 HR’s to the Rays in his last start agianst them in late July. Kiermaier is hitting just .212 on the season with 6 HR’s and 24 RBI’s, however, has been on a tear as of late, hitting .438 with a double, triple, and 2 HR’s over the past week. Kiermaier is 2 for 7 lifetime with a HR and BB agianst Bundy in his career and has 7 SB’s off RHP on the season. Cron comes into this game with just a .253 average however, has some of the best power on the Rays and has had 26 HR’s and 61 RBI’s on the season. Cron has a .509 slugging percentage/.806 OPS since the All-Star Break and is 4 for 13 (.308 average) with a double and 3 HR’s agianst Bundy in his career.
Rounding out our infield tonight, we head out to the SFG/MIL game as we’re going with Joe Panik (2B) of the Giants and Herman Perez (SS) of the Brewers. Panik will be up agianst the RHP Chase Anderson of the Milwaukee Brewers who despite coming in with a 3.96 ERA & 1.16 WHIP on the season, struggled in the month of August, posting a 5.61 ERA over 5 starts. Panik comes into this game with just a .247 average with 4 HR’s and 20 RBI’s however, he is coming up back to back 2-hit games in Colorado and has fared well agianst Anderson over his career as he is 3 for 10 agianst the right-hander with a double and triple. Panik has been batting at the top of the batting order over the past few games which gives him some extra value and as he has a .282 average/.727 OPS vs. RHP this season, I think he is a good low-value option at 2B tonight. Perez should be in the lineup tonight as he will be up agianst the LHP Derek Holland of the Giants. Holland has been solid for the Giants this season, posting a 3.56 ERA & 1.28 WHIP, and although he has been pitching great as of late, I don’t mind putting an RHB up agianst him as is allowing RHB’s to post a .260 average/.791 OPS (16 HR’s) this season. Perez is hitting .265 on the season with 9 HR’s & 29 RBI’s and has been hitting a solid spot in the Milwaukee lineup when they have been going up against LHP. Perez is hitting .308 over the past week and has posted a solid .286 average/.829 OPS vs. LHP on the season.
Completing the team tonight will be Jake Cave (OF) of the Minnesota Twins. Cave will be up agianst the Royals RHP Heath Filmyer who comes into this game with a 4.01 ERA and 1.39 WHIP on the season. Filmyer is coming off a rough month of August after posting a 5.25 ERA and has really struggled on the road this season, posting a 6.98 ERA in 19.1 IP. Cave has been a nice source of power for the Twins this season as is hitting .261 with 10 HR’s and 30 RBI’s in 69 games played this season. Cave has a .841 OPS vs. RHP on the year and has been great at Target Field, posting a .326 average/.607 slugging percentage/.991 OPS.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
