Update (6:31 PM) - Everything is good to go with the Draftkings Lineup. Image is updated. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! It was a solid day for our DraftKings lineup yesterday as our 118.0-point performance had us cashing in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s. For the 2nd time this season, I adjustment and tweeted and updated lineup and forgot to hit the save button on DK so I actually played the original lineup we had going yesterday. We decided to not pay up for deGrom which ended up being key as the was a late scratch after the lock period and we got one of our best pitching performances on the season from the Angels Andrew Heaney who recorded a 41.95-point night. We didn’t have Michael Conforto like we did in our FanDuel lineup, however, we did get solid performances by Rhys Hoskins (19 points), Francisco Lindor (17 points), Jeff McNeil (15 points), and C.J. Cron (11 points). Let’s take a look at tonight’s 10-game “Featured” slate that starts at 7:05pm tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with Colorado’s German Marquez (P) and Kansas City’s Jakob Junis (P). Marquez comes into this game with a 4.05 ERA and 1.24 WHIP on the season however, has been lights out since the All-Star break as in his 9 starts he has posted a 2.79 ERA while holding opponents to just a .206 average. Marquez has raked up 8 straight quality starts and, in those games, has allowed 2 ER’s or less in 7 of those starts. Marquez has an impressive 10.1 K/9 ratio and has a nice match-up agianst the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight who come into this game ranked dead last in MLB in team batting average vs. RHP (.232) and 24th in team strikeout rate (8.94 K/game). Marquez has pitched well at Coors Field in his last two starts (13.2 IP, 2 ER, 20 K’s) and I think he continues his strong 2nd half tonight against the Diamondbacks. Junis is another pitcher who has turned it on in the 2nd half of the season as although he comes in with a 4.32 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, the right-hander has posted a solid 2.75 ERA in 9 starts since the All-Star break. Junis is holding his opponents to just a .256 average on the season as he has really done a good job limited the HR’s as of late as although he still has allowed 27 HR’s on the season (1.6 HR/9 ratio), he has allowed just 1 HR over his past six starts. Junis has a solid 8.5 K/9 ratio due to an outstanding slider and has a nice match-up agianst the White Sox today as they come into this game ranked 22nd in team batting average vs. RHP (.243) and last in team strikeout rate (9.68 K/game). Junis has struggled a bit agianst the White Sox this season, however, he had back to back 30+ point performances in his last two games and I think he continues his strong recent run tonight.
On the offensive side tonight, we’re going to start off with a 4-man stack of Philadelphia Phillies in Wilson Ramos (C), Carlos Santana (1B), Cesar Hernandez (2B), and Rhys Hoskins (OF) in their solid matchup agianst the RHP Erick Fedde of the Washington Nationals. Fedde comes into this game with a 6.00 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 7 starts this season and is coming off a rough performance agianst the Cardinals in which he gave up 4 ER’s over 5.0 IP. Fedde is allowing his opponents to post a .315 average and .889 OPS against him and is also prone to giving up HR’s as in his 10 career starts, he has posted a 2.0 HR/9 ratio. Ramos comes into this game with a .310 average with 15 HR’s and 64 RBI’s on the season, and I expect Ramos to be back in the lineup tonight after getting yesterday off. Ramos is hitting an incredible .385 since joining the Phillies and has posted a .839 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Santana is hitting just .230 on the season however, has shown some nice power as he has 23 HR’s and 82 RBI’s on the season. Santana is hitting .320 over the past week with 3 HR’s and has a .773 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Hernandez comes into this game with a .258 average with 11 HR’s, 48 RBI’s, and 18 SB’s on the season. Hernandez was recently bumped from the leadoff spot which hurts his value a bit, however, the move seems to have paid off as Hernandez is 6 for his last 8 and is hitting .400 over the past week. Hoskins is hitting just .251 on the season however, the slugging right-hander has some of the best power on the Phillies and comes into this game with 30 HR’s and 88 RBI’s on the season. Hoskins has a HR in three straight games and has been much better against RHP this season, posting a .545 slugging percentage and .898 OPS.
We have a mini-stack of Milwaukee Brewers going tonight in Ryan Braun (OF) and Lorenzo Cain (OF) in their decent match-up against the LHP Jon Lester of the Chicago Cubs. Lester comes in with a solid 3.53 ERA and 1.32 WHIP on the season, however, hasn’t fared well since the All-Star break as in his 9 starts, he has posted a 5.83 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .332 against him. Lester has given up 10 HR’s in those last 9 starts and has fared much worse at home this season, posting a 4.25 ERA. Braun comes into this game with a .256 average with 15 HR’s and 52 RBI’s, however, seems to be warming up for the Brewers playoff push as he has posted a .357 average over the past week and a .333 average in the month of September. Braun has posted a .535 slugging percentage/.883 OPS vs. LHP on the season and is 8 for 18 (.444 average) against Lester in his career. Cain is having a nice season with the Brewers as he comes into this game with a .306 average with 10 HR’s, 35 RBI’s, and 26 SB’s. Cain has been a monster vs. LHP this season, posting a .374 average/.553 slugging percentage/1.011 OPS and as we know that Lester has trouble holding individuals on 1st base despite being a LHP, I feel like Cain can get us a SB if he can get on base tonight.
Staying in this matchup, we’re going to be going with the Cubs Addison Russell (SS) in his match-up against the LHP Wade Miley of the Milwaukee Brewers. Miley has actually been incredible in his 12 starts this season he has posted a 2.12 ERA and 1.18 WHIP however, I’m still not buying that Miley is suddenly one of the better pitchers in MLB after putting up about a combined 5.50 ERA over his last four seasons. It’s been a tough year for the talented shortstop as he comes into this game with just a .256 average with 5 HR’s and 38 RBI’s. Russell has fared much better agianst LHP posting a .275 average/.751 OPS and has been solid against the Brewers, posting a .308 average. Russell is only 1 for 7 agianst Miley in his career, however, the one hit was a HR.
Rounding out he team tonight, we’re going to be going with Evan Longoria (3B) in his match-up against the LHP Sean Newcomb of the Atlanta Braves. Newcomb has had a nice season as he comes into this game with a 3.92 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, however, it seems like the left-hander is starting to struggle down the stretch as he has posted a 5+ ERA in his 11 starts since the beginning of July. Longoria is hitting just .245 on the season but still has some decent power as he has 15 HR’s and 49 RBI’s on the year and he is always a good value play when he is going agianst an LHP as he has posted a .515 slugging percentage/.825 OPS against left-handers on the season.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
