Update (6:28 PM) - Need to replace Bour as he is not getting the start tonight. Going to replace him with with Adalberto Mondesi of Kansas City. Image is updated below. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! It was the first Sunday of football however, we still got our MLB lineups out there and they were great as our 161.3-point performance had us cashing in both our 50/50’s and GPP’s. We decided to go with Andrew Heaney over Jacob deGrom and not only did Heaney have a career 67-point performance, deGrom was a late scratch after the NYM game was locked which knocked out a lot of teams before the action even started. We got some solid offensive performances by Michael Conforto (32.2 points) and Francisco Lindor (21.7 points) and it could have been even a bigger night if we got some more production from Jose Ramirez and Eddie Rosario who combined for just 6 points. Let’s take a look at tonight’s 10-game “Main” slate that starts at 7:05pm tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with the Royals Jakob Junis (P) who comes into this game with a 4.32 ERA and 1.25 WHIP on the season and has a plus match-up against the Chicago White Sox. Junis has been lights out since the All-Star break as in his 9 starts, he has posted an incredible 2.75 ERA. Junis is holding his opponents to just a .256 average on the season as he has really done a good job limited the HR’s as of late as although he still has allowed 27 HR’s on the season (1.6 HR/9 ratio), he has allowed just 1 HR over his past six starts. Junis has a solid 8.5 K/9 ratio due to an outstanding slider and faces a White Sox team that comes into this game ranked just 22nd in team batting average vs. RHP (.243) and last in team strikeout rate (9.68 K/game). Junis has struggled a bit agianst the White Sox this season, however, as Junis has averaged 50+ points over his last two games and I think he’ll continue his recent strong run tonight.
On the offensive side tonight, we’re going to start off with a 4-man stack of Philadelphia Phillies in Carlos Santana (C/1B), Cesar Hernandez (2B), Rhys Hoskins (OF), and Justin Bour (Utility) in their solid matchup agianst the RHP Erick Fedde of the Washington Nationals. Fedde comes into this game with a 6.00 ERA and 1.58 WHIP in 7 starts this season and is coming off a rough performance agianst the Cardinals in which he gave up 4 ER’s over 5.0 IP. Fedde is allowing his opponents to post a .315 average and .889 OPS against him and is also prone to giving up HR’s as in his 10 career starts, he has posted a 2.0 HR/9 ratio. Santana is hitting just .230 on the season however, has shown some nice power as he has 23 HR’s and 82 RBI’s on the season. Santana is hitting .320 over the past week with 3 HR’s and has a .773 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Hernandez comes into this game with a .258 average with 11 HR’s, 48 RBI’s, and 18 SB’s on the season. Hernandez was recently bumped from the leadoff spot which hurts his value a bit, however, the move seems to have paid off as Hernandez is 6 for his last 8 and is hitting .400 over the past week. Hoskins is hitting just .251 on the season however, the slugging right-hander has some of the best power on the Phillies and comes into this game with 30 HR’s and 88 RBI’s on the season. Hoskins has a HR in three straight games and has been much better against RHP this season, posting a .545 slugging percentage and .898 OPS. If Hoskins doesn’t have the best pure power, then it’s probably Jason Bour who comes into this game with just a .228 average however, has 20 HR’s and 56 RBI’s on the season. Bour has 18 HR’s vs. LHP on the season to go along with an impressive .823 OPS.
We have a mini-stack of Milwaukee Brewers going tonight in Ryan Braun (OF) and Lorenzo Cain (OF) in their decent match-up against the LHP Jon Lester of the Chicago Cubs. Lester comes in with a solid 3.53 ERA and 1.32 WHIP on the season, however, hasn’t fared well since the All-Star break as in his 9 starts, he has posted a 5.83 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .332 against him. Lester has given up 10 HR’s in those last 9 starts and has fared much worse at home this season, posting a 4.25 ERA. Braun comes into this game with a .256 average with 15 HR’s and 52 RBI’s, however, seems to be warming up for the Brewers playoff push as he has posted a .357 average over the past week and a .333 average in the month of September. Braun has posted a .535 slugging percentage/.883 OPS vs. LHP on the season and is 8 for 18 (.444 average) against Lester in his career. Cain is having a nice season with the Brewers as he comes into this game with a .306 average with 10 HR’s, 35 RBI’s, and 26 SB’s. Cain has been a monster vs. LHP this season, posting a .374 average/.553 slugging percentage/1.011 OPS and as we know that Lester has trouble holding individuals on 1st base despite being an LHP, I feel like Cain can get us a SB if he can get on base tonight.
Staying in this matchup, we’re going to be going with the Cubs Khris Bryant (3B) in his match-up against the LHP Wade Miley of the Milwaukee Brewers. Miley has actually been incredible in his 12 starts this season he has posted a 2.12 ERA and 1.18 WHIP however, I’m still not buying that Miley is suddenly one of the better pitchers in MLB after putting up about a combined 5.50 ERA over his last four seasons. Bryant has had a down season this year as he is hitting just .277 with 11 HR’s and 45 RBI’s in 84 games, however, has been great against LHP on the season, posting a .358 average/.746 slugging percentage/1.159 OPS. Bryant has also fared well agianst Miley in his career as he has posted a .444 career average in 9 AB’s.
Trevor Story (SS) is playing at Coors Field tonight and although it’s not an LHP, I’m not going agianst the slugging shortstop has been on a tear as of late. Story will be up agianst the RHP Zack Godley of the Arizona Diamondbacks who comes into this game with a 4.51 ERA and 1.38 WHIP on the season. Godley has struggled a bit as of late as he has allowed at least 4 ER’s in three of his last 4 starts and comes into this game with a 4.22 ERA against the Rockies on the season. Story comes into this game with a .293 average with 31 HR’s and 96 RBI’s. Story is hitting .292 over the past week with 5 HR’s and is hitting .344 in the month of September. Story has been great at home this season, posting a .304 average with an incredible 1.020 OPS.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
