Update (5:47 PM) - Hi Everyone! Keeping the original lineup tonight. Still need to make sure N. Cruz (SEA) is a go, but other then that we are good! Image is updated below! Good Luck!.
Hi Everyone! We came up short last night in our DK lineup as our 88.25 point performance wasn’t good enough to cash in either our 50/50’s and GPP’s. We got solid pitching performances from David Price (31.95 points) and Felix Pena (19.3 points) however, outside of Jose Fernandez (16 points) and Eduardo Escobar (16 points), we didn’t get much from our offense as we were very disappointed in Trevor Story and Mike Trout who combined for 0 points. Let’s get back on the winning track as we take a look of 6-game “featured” slate that starts at 7:05pm tonight!
On the mound tonight, we’re going to take a chance and pivot away from Clayton Kershaw and roster the Red Sox Eduardo Rodriguez (P) and the Cardinals Austin Gomber (P). Rodriguez comes into this game with a 3.64 ERA and 1.24 WHIP on the season and has a nice match-up against the Toronto Blue Jays tonight. Rodriguez got hit pretty hard in his last start against the Astros, however, the Red Sox left-hander had a gem of an outing agianst the White Sox before that (5.2 IP, 3 H, ER, 12 K) and was pitching real well before he went on the DL as Rodriguez has allowed 1 ER or less in 4 of his last 5 starts. Rodriguez has an impressive 10.0 K/9 ratio and faces a Blue Jays team that ranks just 27th in terms of team batting average vs. LHP (.231) and just 15th in team strikeout rate (8.5 K/game). Rodriguez has fared well against the Blue Jays this season as in three starts, the left-hander has held Toronto to just a 2.41 ERA (5 ER in 18.2 IP) while holding them to just a .191 average. Gomber has been outstanding in his first season with the Cardinals as the young LHP has posted a 2.93 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. Gomber has allowed 3 or more ER in just two of his 8 starts this season and is holding his opponents to just a .244 average/.693 OPS. Gomber has a tough match-up agianst the Dodgers as they have a lot of get RHB’s, however, Gomber has fared well against RHB’s on the season, holding them to just a .222 average/.333 slugging percentage. Gomber has an average 7.5 K/9 ratio and although it will be tough to get the win going against Kershaw, there really isn’t many other options if you’re not paying up Kershaw.
Oakland has one of the match-ups on the slate tonight as they are going up agianst the struggling RHP Dylan Bundy of the Baltimore Orioles and we’re going to have plenty of action against him as we’re stacking Oakland’s Matt Olsen (C/1B), Matt Chapman (3B), and Ramon Laureano (OF). Bundy comes into this game with a 5.58 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the season and has posted an 8.29 ERA since the All-Star break. Bundy is allowing his opponents to average .274 on the season and has really bit hurt by the HR ball as he has allowed 37 HR’s on the season and currently has a 2.2 HR/9 ratio. Olsen comes into this game with just a .241 average with 26 HR’s and 72 RBI’s. Olsen is hitting .353 over the past week and is 2 for 6 lifetime with a HR against Bundy in his career. Chapman comes into this game with a .282 average with 22 HR’s & 63 RBI’s and has been solid on the road this season, posting a .319 average with 14 of his 22 HR’s. Chapman has been incredible since the All-Star game as he has posted a .328 average/.652 slugging percentage/1.046 OPS. Ramon Laureano has been a nice surprise for the A’s as the lead-off man comes into this game with a .293 average with 5 HR’s and 14 RBI’s on the season. Laureano has a .959 OPS on the road and has posted a .313 average/1.007 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
We’re also going to have a mini-stack of the Minnesota Twins in Logan Forsythe (2B) and Jake Cave (OF) in their match-up against the RHP Heath Fillmyer of the Kansas City Royals. Fillmyer comes into this game with a 4.75 ERA and 1.48 WHIP and similar to Stephen Gonsalves, struggled in his recent match-up agianst the Twins, lasting just a 2.1 IP while giving up 6 ER’s on 6 hits. Fillmyer is allowing their opponents to hit .268 on the season however, in his two starts in September, he has a 7.71 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .375 against him. Forsythe comes into this game with just a .235 average with 2 HR’s and 24 RBI’s, however, has been solid since joining the Twins, posting a .275 average. Forsythe has been better on the road this season (.266 average) and is 2 for 2 lifetime agianst Fillmyer in his career. Cave comes into this game with a .261 average with 10 HR’s and 33 RBI’s on the season. Cave is coming off a decent series agianst the Yankees, going 4 for 12 (.333 average) and is 2 for 3 with a double and RBI against Fillmyer in his career.
We’re going to stay in this match-up and go with the Royals Salvador Perez (C) and Adalberto Mondesi (SS) in their nice match-up against the LHP Stephen Gonsalves of the Twins. It’s been a struggle for the Minnesota LHP as over his 4 starts this season, he is posting a 11.68 ERA and 3.00 WHIP. Gonsalves is allowing his opponents to post a .414 average/1.148 WHIP and was recently hit hard by the Royals as he lasted just 2.1 IP while giving up 5 ER’s on 5 hits. Perez comes into this game with just a .233 average however, has had some nice power on the season, posting 24 HR’s and 68 RBI’s. Perez has been better agianst LHP on the season and has 4 HR’s against the Twins on the season. Mondesi comes into this game with a .284 average with 7 HR’s, 25 RBI’s & 22 SB’s. Mondesi is hitting .400 over the past week and has posted a solid .807 OPS vs. LHP on the year.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to go with Seattle Nelson Cruz (OF) as he had a decent match-up agianst the RHP Odrisamer Despaigne of the Los Angeles Angels. Despaigne has struggled in his limited time on the mound this season as he currently is posting a 6.40 ERA and 1.79 WHIP. Despaigne is allowing his opponents to post a .847 OPS and is allowing RHB to post a .306 average/.836 OPS. Cruz comes into this game with just a .263 average however, still has his power as he currently has 35 HR’s and 86 RBI’s on the season. Cruz is hitting .305 on the road this season and has posted a .265 average/.859 OPS vs. RHB on the season.
Please check back later as we’ll make any necessary updates to the lineups due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
