Update (6:13 PM) - Keeping the original lineup! Image updated! Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! Let’s check out who we have going today for today’s 7-game “Main” slate that starts at 7:05pm tonight.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to pay the high price for Washington’s Max Scherzer (P) in his match-up against the New York Mets at home tonight. Scherzer is having another incredible season as he comes into this match-up with an impressive 2.53 ERA and 0.91 WHIP on the season. Scherzer is holding his opponents to just a .188 average on the season and has an impressive K/9 ratio of 12.1. Scherzer has a great match-up tonight as the Mets come into this game ranked just 25th in team batting average vs. RHP (.240) and have averaged 11.3 K/game over their last three contests. Scherzer has been outstanding at home this season and although he is going to be owned by a high percentage of players tonight, I’m ok spending up on him.
To be able to afford Scherzer, we’re going to be going with a 4-man stack of Chicago White Sox in Omar Narvaez (C/1B), Yoan Moncada (2B), Yolmer Sanchez (3B), and Daniel Palka (OF) in their matchup agianst Josh Tomlin of the Cleveland Indians. Tomlin is starting again for the Indians and that is great news for DFS players as he comes into this game with a 6.49 ERA and 1.51 WHIP on the season. Tomlin is allowing his opponents to post a .306 average/.975 OPS and has been really hurt by the HR ball this season as he has a crazy 3.5 HR/9 ratio. Narvaez has had a solid season as he comes into this game with a .276 average with 8 HR’s and 28 RBI’s. Narvaez is hitting .364 over the past week and has a .841 OPS vs. RHP on the season. Moncada hasn’t had the year at the plate as many were expecting as he is hitting just .228, however, he has shown some decent power as he comes into this game with 17 HR’s and 58 RBI’s on the season. Moncada is hitting .318 over the past week and the switch-hitter has hit much better as an LHB as 15 of his 17 HR’s have come from that side of the plate. Sanchez comes into this game with a .246 average with 8 HR’s and 52 RBI’s. Sanchez has posted a .743 OPS as an LHB and has a couple of extra base hits off Tomlin in his career. Palka comes in with just a .243 average, however, there is no denying that he has some of the best power on the White Sox as he currently has 26 HR’s on the season. Palka has posted a .375 average over the past week with 4 HR’s and has a .842 OPS vs. RHP.
We are going to take a couple of Cincinnati Reds in Scott Schebler (OF) and Tucker Barnhart (Utility) in their match-up agianst the RHP Jeff Brigham of the Miami Marlins. Brigham comes into this game with just a 7.36 ERA & 1.91 WHIP on the season over just two starts. Brigham is allowing his opponents to post a .333 average/.935 OPS and as he hasn’t lasted by the 5th inning and that the Miami bullpen is less than stellar, I like the Reds bats tonight. Schebler comes into this game with a .270 average with 17 HR’s and 49 RBI’s. Schebler has a .803 OPS vs. RHP on the season and a solid .930 OPS during “night” games. Barnhart comes into this game with just a .245 average however, has shown a little pop in his bat this season, posting 9 HR’s & 44 RBI’s. Barnhart has struggled a bit as of late, however, as I’m looking for value, so I can pay up for Scherzer, I don’t mind taking a chance on him tonight.
We finish our team tonight was a 2-man stack of Washington Nationals in Trea Turner (SS) and Victor Robles (OF) in their decent match-up against the LHP Jason Vargas of the New York Mets. Vargas has shown some flashes of being a productive pitcher as of late, however, this is still the guy who comes into this game with a 6.47 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. Vargas currently has a 1.9 HR/9 ratio and is allowing RHB’s to post a .303 average/.549 slugging percentage/.907 OPS against him. Turner comes into this game with a .268 average with 17 HR’s, 65 RBI’s & 40 SB. Turner is hitting .305 against the Mets this season and currently is riding a 7-game hitting streak. Robles is one of the top prospects for the Nationals and I expect him to be back at the top of the lineup tonight agianst an LHP. Robes is hitting .308 (4-13) over the past week and recently just flashed his potential in his last start, as he went 2 for 4 with a HR.
Please check back as I’ll make any necessary changes to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
