DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – 9/21/18
Update (5:49 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some adjustments to the lineup. Sticking with the KC stack agianst Lirano however, put Perez in their as Dozier hasn't fared that well against LHP on the season. We kept Castellanos and I don't mind rolling with Davers at his price hitting out of the 3-hole as he should only have to face Bauer once tonight. Good Luck!
It’s that time of the season that we really need to keep a close eye on the confirmed lineups as many teams are already well out of it or have clinched their division so we’ll be seeing a lot of different faces in the starting lineups. The lineups right now are more of a general direction on games I like in the morning but things will most likely change when the lineups are confirmed.
Let’s take a look at tonight’s 14-game “Featured” Slate that starts at 7:05 PM!
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with the Rockies German Marquez (P) and the Reds Luis Castillo (P). Marquez comes into his match-up agianst the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 3.96 ERA and 1.23 WHIP on the season and has been one of the top pitchers in all of baseball in the 2nd half of the season as he has posted a 2.78 ERA over 11 starts. Marquez is holding his opponents to a .245 average/.705 OPS on the season and has a great matchup tonight against the Diamondbacks who rank dead last in MLB in terms of batting average vs. RHP (.231). Marquez has a solid 10.1 K/9 ratio on the season and should be in line for a nice night in the strikeout department as Arizona ranks 25th in team strikeout rate. Marquez was lights out agianst Arizona two starts ago at home (7.0 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 11 K’s) and as he has 33 K’s in 27.0 IP agianst the Diamondbacks tonight, I can see Marquez getting a 30-point if he has his stuff going for him. Castillo comes into this game with a 4.52 ERA and 1.25 WHIP however, similar to Marquez, has been outstanding in the 2nd half of the season, posting a 2.79 ERA over 10 starts. Since the All-Star break, Castillo is holding his opponents to a .210 average and has recorded a 64 K’s over 58.0 IP. Castillo will be up agianst a Miami team that ranks just 23rd in team batting average vs. RHP (.241 average) and has been striking out more as of late, as over the last three games, they are averaging 10.7 K/game. Castillo has struggled a bit on the road this season, however, Miami is a great pitchers ball park and if he can pile up some strikeouts tonight, I can see 25-30 points out of the right-hander.
There was a bunch of offense in the KC/DET game last night and as the wind is going to be blowing out hard (15-20 mph) to left field tonight, I’m initially targeting this match-up today.
For the Royals, we’re going to go with a 4-man stack of Whit Merrifield (2B), Hunter Dozier (3B), Adalberto Mondesi (SS), and Jorge Bonifacio (OF) in their match-up agianst the LHP Francisco Liriano of the Detroit Tigers. Liriano has had a below average season with the Tigers as he comes into this game with a 4.54 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. Liriano has fared well against the Royals this season, however, he still is allowing opponents to post a .775 OPS agianst him and has a HR/9 ratio of 1.4. Merrifield comes into this game with a .303 average on the season with 12 HR’s, 57 RBI’s, & 37 SB. Merrifield is hitting .323 over the past week and has crushed LHP all season to the tune of a .360 average/.541 slugging percentage/.946 OPS. Dozier comes into this game with just a .236 average, however, has shown some decent power as he has 10 HR’s & 32 RBI’s on the season. Dozier currently has a 4-game hitting streak and has posted a .270 average/.816 OPS in the month of September. Mondesi has been outstanding in his 66 games with the Royals this season as he is currently hitting .290 with 11 HR’s, 31 RBI’s & 26 SB. Mondesi is hitting .344 over the past week and has a .785 OPS vs. LHP on the season. Bonifacio hasn’t had a great season as he is hitting just .234 with 4 HR’s and 23 RBI’s, however, he does have a .789 OPS vs. LHP on the season and is 3 for 5 with two doubles and a HR against Liriano in his career.
For the Tigers, we’re going to be rolling with Nicholas Castellanos (OF) and Christin Stewart (OF) in their matchup agianst the RHP Ian Kennedy of the Royals. Kennedy has pitched well as of late, however, he still comes into this match-up with a 4.73 ERA and 1.42 WHIP on the season. Kennedy is allowing his opponents to post a .267 average/.791 OPS agianst him on the season and has a 1.5 HR/9 ratio. Castellanos has been one of the few bright spots for the Tigers this season as he enters this game with a .299 average with 22 HR’s & 83 RBI’s. Castellanos is hitting .400 over the past week and is hitting a ridiculous .533 over his past 4 games. We almost went with Stewart yesterday and it was big mistake that we didn’t as he Tigers rookie had his first big game at the MLB level, going 2 for 4 with 2 HR’s and 6 RBI’s. Stewart showed a bunch of power in the minors this season as over 125 games, he hit 25 HR’s and drove in 80 RBI’s and with this match-up tonight, he has some tremendous value with his HR-upside.
At the catcher’s position tonight, we’re going to be going with the Pirates Francisco Cervelli (C) in his match-up agianst the RHP Jhoulys Chacin of the Milwaukee Brewers. Chacin has pitched well this season for the Brewers, however, it’s been more of a struggle as of late as he has failed to make it past the 5th inning in his last three starts. Cervelli comes into this game with a .255 average with 11 HR’s and 53 RBI’s and has been solid agianst RHP on the season, posting a .822 OPS. Cervelli has a career .429 average agianst Chacin in his career and we like the extra value that he has had as of late as he has been hitting clean-up for the Pirates.
Rounding out the team today will be the Blue Jays Kendrys Morales (C/1B) who will be up against the RHP Diego Castillo of the Tampa Bay Rays. Castillo comes into this game with a 3.14 ERA and 0.97 WHIP and has pitched very well however, he will only be in the game for two innings at the most until they turn it over to their bullpen. Morales comes into this game with a .252 average with 21 HR’s and 57 RBI’s on the season and I like rolling with Morales as he is switch-hitter so we don’t need to worry as much about trying to figure out the various match-up with the Rays bullpen.
Please check back later as I’ll make any necessary edits to the lineup due to “confirmed lineups” and/or weather.
