Update (6:28 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some adjustments to the lineup! Image updated below! Good Luck.
Hi Everyone! We have a big 14-game “Main” slate tonight that starts at 7:05pm so let’s see who we’re targeting as of right now!
Please remember, being the last week of the season, we need to pay extra attention to when the “confirmed lineups” are released as the majority of team’s fate for the postseason has already been determined. We’re going to be seeing a lot of different lineups this week so unless you have players on a team that is still fighting for a playoff spot (Cubs, Brewers, Cardinals, Dodgers, Rockies), we need to make sure everyone we like in the morning is going to get the start.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be going with the Dodgers Walker Buehler (P) and the Astros Josh James (P). Buehler has been incredible for the Dodgers this season as the young RHP comes into tonight’s match-up against the Arizona Diamondbacks with an impressive 2.74 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. Buehler has been lights out as of late, as outside of his one start at Colorado, he has allowed 2 or less ER’s in 9 of his last 10 starts. Buehler is holding his opponents to just a .198 average/.569 OPS and has a plus matchup against the Diamondbacks who currently rank dead last in MLB vs. RHP with a .229 average. Buehler has an impressive 10.3 K/9 ratio and should have a good chance to improve that number agianst the Diamondbacks who rank 25th in MLB in team strikeout rate (8.99 K/game). Buehler has posted a 2.14 ERA since the All-Star break and was solid in his recent start agianst Arizona, going 6.1 innings, giving up just 1 ER on 2 hits while striking out 9. James has made only 4 appearances (2 stars) this season for the Astros however, we have seen the potential the hard-throwing RHP has as he comes into this match-up agianst the Toronto Blue Jays with an impressive 2.84 ERA & 1.00 WHIP. James made a start about a week ago agianst the Mariners in which he went 5.1 innings, giving up no runs while striking out 7. What was encouraging was that James threw 87 pitches, so unlike last week, I don’t think we need to worry as much about a pitch limit. James is holding his opponents to a .172 average and has an incredible 13.5 K/9 ratio.
We were able to put together a decent Dodgers stack with our FanDuel lineup, however, the Dodgers are all quite expensive on DraftKings tonight se we needed to find some more value and will start with a 3-man Minnesota stack of Tyler Austin (1B), Ehire Adrianza (3B) and Jake Cave (OF) in their match-up agianst the RHP Spencer Turnbull of the Detroit Tigers. Turnbull struggled in his first MLB start last week agianst this same Twins team as he lasted just 4.0 innings while giving up 6 ER’s on 6 hits. Austin comes into this game with just a .230 average however, does have some decent power as he has 16 HR’s & 40 RBI’s on the season. Austin has posted a .300 average over the past week and has really had success agianst the Tigers this season, posting a .419 (13 for 31) average on the season. Adrianza comes into this game with a .256 average with 6 HR’s & 39 RBI’s, however, has been on fire as of late as he is hitting .500 (8 for 16) with 6 doubles. Adrianza was 2 for 2 agianst Turnbull last week and has shown all his power as an LHB this season. Cave comes into this game with a .261 average, however, has shown some decent pop in his bat as he has 12 HR’s & 40 RBI’s on the season. Cave has posted a .829 OPS vs. RHP on the season and has been great at Target Field, posting a .313 average & .920 OPS.
We have a 2-man stack of San Diego Padres tonight with Freddy Galvis (2B) and Franmil Reyes (OF) in their match-up agianst the San Francisco Giants RHP Chris Stratton. Stratton comes into this game with a 4.88 ERA & 1.37 WHIP on the season and was recently lit up by the Padres as last week he lasted just 3.0 innings while giving up 5 ER’s on 6 hits (1 HR). Stratton has been hit or miss this season and comes into this game allowing his opponents to post a .268 average/.776 OPS agianst him on the season. Galvis comes into this game with just a .241 average with 13 HR’s & 66 RBI’s, however, has been on a tear as of late, posting a .435 average with 2 HR’s over the past week. Galvis has hits in 8 of his last 9 games and will have some extra DFS value if he continues to hit leadoff like he did last night. Reyes comes into this game with a .279 average with 16 HR’s & 29 RBI’s on the season and has been swinging a solid bat as of late, posting a .304 average over the past week. Reyes has a .467 (7-15) average vs. San Francisco on the season and always has the potential for a monster night as he has some of the best pure power in the game.
At second-base tonight we’re going to be going with the veteran Josh Harrison (2B) of the Pittsburgh Pirates in his decent match-up against the LHP Mike Montgomery of the Chicago Cubs. Montgomery comes into this game with a 3.75 ERA & 1.33 WHIP on the season. Montgomery has struggled at Wrigley Field, posting a 4.43 ERA while allowing opponents to hit .298 against him and I think he could be in for another tough night with the wind blowing out tonight. Harrison is hitting just .252 on the season with 8 HR’s & 37 RBI’s and although we’ll have to make sure he gets the start as he has been dealing with a hamstring injury, I like Harrison agianst the LHP as over last three seasons, he has posted a .299 average/.811 OPS vs. LHP.
Completing the infield tonight, we’re going to go with the suddenly streaking Matt Wieters (C/1B) of the Washington Nationals in his match-up agianst the RHP Jeff Brigham of the Miami Marlins. Brigham has struggled in his three starts with the Marlins this season as he comes into this game with a 5.84 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. Brigham has posted a 6.23 ERA on the road this season and has had trouble with his control as he has allowed 9 BB’s in just 12.1 IP. Wieters comes into this game with just a .229 average with 8 HR’s & 29 RBI’s, however, has a HR in two straight games and went 1 for 1 with 3 BB’s last night. Wieters is hitting .304 against the Marlins this season and has posted better numbers as an LHB on the season.
Rounding out the team will be the Los Angeles Angels Shohei Ohtani (OF) who has a great match-up agianst the RHP Yovani Gallardo of the Texas Rangers. Gallardo comes into this game with a 6.59 ERA & 1.67 WHIP and has allowed at least 3 ER’s in each of his last five starts. Gallardo currently is allowing his opponents to post a .294 average/.891 OPS agianst him on the season and currently is posting an 8.83 ERA in the month of September. Ohtani continues to have a great season at the plate despite the arm injury that is preventing him to pitch as he comes into this game with a .280 average with 21 HR's & 56 RBI's. Ohtani has crushed the ball in September as he has posted a .672 slugging percentage/1.024 OPS and has really hit Texas hard this season as he is 16 for 49 (.327 average) with 5 HR’s.
Please check back later as we make any necessary updates to the lineup due to “Confirmed Lineups” and/or weather.
