DFS – Fantasy Baseball – MLB FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – 9/26/18
Hi Everyone (6:20 PM) - I've made some update to the lineups. As expected, the Red Sox have some value in the 2nd game of their double header today and I've added a few of their LHB's as they'll be up against Jimmy Tacabonis of the Orioles who is allowing LHB's to post a .333 average/.943 OPS. Image is updated below. Good Luck!
Hi Everyone! We got a 12-game “Main” slate going tonight at 7:05pm and let’s take a look of who we are targeting as of this morning!
Remember, being the last week of the season, we need to pay extra attention to when the “confirmed lineups” are released as the majority of the teams’ fate for the postseason has already been determined. We will be seeing a lot of different lineups so unless you have players on a team that is still fighting for a playoff spot (Cubs, Brewers, Cardinals, Dodgers, Rockies), we need to make sure we reevaluate once the lineups are released.
As for the weather, as of right now, the only game that looks like it could possibility be affected by rain is the Braves/Mets match-up at 7:10pm.
On the mound tonight, we’re going to be paying up for the Rockies German Marquez (P) in his match-up agianst the Philadelphia Phillies. Marquez comes into this game with a 3.91 ERA and 1.22 WHIP and has been lights out in the 2nd half of the season as he has posted a 2.77 ERA while holding his opponents to a .219 average in 12 starts since the All-Star break. Marquez is holding opponents to just a .245 average/.703 OPS on the season and faces a slumping Philadelphia team that ranks 27th in MLB in terms of batting average vs. RHP (.237). Marquez is posting a career high 10.3 K/9 ratio and could be in for a solid strikeout night as the Phillies rank just 28th in team strikeout rate. Marquez struggled agianst the Phillies earlier in the season, however, he has gone 11 straight starts without giving up more than 3 ER’s and as the Phillies just don’t seem to be playing inspired baseball at the moment, I think Marquez is in for a big night.
We’re going to start our offense tonight with a 4-man Oakland stack of Marcus Semien (SS), Nick Martini (OF), Stephen Piscotty (OF), and Matt Olsen (Utility) in their match-up against the RHP Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners. It’s been a tough year for “King Felix” as the long time Seattle “ace” comes into this game with a 5.46 ERA and 1.40 WHIP on the season. Hernandez is allowing his opponents to post a .796 OPS agianst him on the season and has posted a 6.22 ERA in 9 appearances since the All-Star break. Semien is having an average year as the shortstop comes into this game with a .255 average with 14 HR’s, 66 RBI’s & 14 SB. Semien loses a little value as he has been batting at the bottom of the A’s lineup, however, he has a reasonable price tag and has a career .341 average (14-41) with 4 HR’s off Hernandez in his career. Martini isn’t a huge threat when it comes to the power department, however, he has impressed at the plate this season as he is hitting .303 over his 142 AB’s on the year. Martini hit leadoff last night which gives him some extra value and is hitting .375 (9-24) over the past week. Piscotty has had a great first year with the A’s as he comes into this game with a .270 average with 26 HR’s & 85 RBI’s. Piscotty is hitting .381 over the past week and is 4 for 10 lifetime with 2 doubles and HR agianst Hernandez. Olsen is hitting just .248 on the season, however, has shown some great power as he has 28 HR’s & 80 RBI’s on the season. Olsen is hitting .292 over the past week and is hitting .301 with 4 HR’s in the month of September.
For a value play today, we’re going to be going with the White Sox Omar Narvaez (C/1B) in his match-up agianst the RHP Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Indians. Bieber has pitched well this season for the Indians, however, still comes in with just a 4.80 ERA and 1.37 WHIP on the season. Bieber has given up 11 ER’s over his last two starts and has struggled against LHB’s this season, allowing them to post a .323 average/.930 OPS. Narvaez comes into this game with a .275 average with 9 HR’s and 29 RBI’s. Narvaez has picked up hits in 7 of his last 8 games and has posted a .295 average/.841 OPS vs. RHP on the season.
I’m still kicking myself for taking Freddy Galvis (2B) out of my lineup yesterday and I’m not making that same mistake tonight as Galvis has a nice match-up agianst Casey Kelly of the San Francisco Giants. Kelly comes into this game with a 2.89 ERA & 1.45 WHIP on the season, however, we shouldn’t read into those numbers that much as he has pitched just 18.2 innings this season. In his career, Kelly has posted just a 5.58 ERA & 1.67 WHIP and before this season, was allowing opponents to hit .340 against him. Galvis comes into this game with a .246 average with 13 HR’s & 66 RBI’s on the season however, has been on a tear as of late as he is hitting .435 (10-23) over the past week. Galvis has been leading off for the Padres the last couple of nights and the switch-hitter is having the best of month of his season as he has posted a .288 average/.787 OPS so far in the month of September.
Eduardo Escobar (3B) played the hero card last night for the Diamondbacks as he won the game with a walk-off pinch hit HR in the bottom of the 9th. I’m going with Escobar today as he is at a decent price and I don’t mind his match-up against the RHP Ross Stripling of the Dodgers. Stripling comes into this game with a 2.84 ERA & 1.15 WHIP on the season, however, has looked a bit rusty since coming back from injury and over his last three starts, he has given up 6 ER’s (3 HR’s) in just 10.0 IP. Eduardo Escobar is hitting .271 on the season and has shown some nice power as he has 23 HR’s & 84 RBI’s on the season. The switch-hitting Escobar has been much better agianst RHP on the season, posting a .858 OPS, and is also hitting .353 over the past week.
Rounding out the team tonight, we’re going to be going with Colorado’s David Dahl (OF) in his match-up agianst Philadelphia’s RHP Nick Pivetta. Pivetta comes into this game with a 4.58 ERA & 1.29 WHIP on the season and really struggled in his only other start against the Rockies this season as he lasted just 5.0 inning, giving up 6 ER’s on 8 hits (1 HR). Pivetta is allowing LHB’s to post a .777 OPS against him and comes into this game at Coors Field with a career 1.5 HR/9 ratio. Dahl is hitting .274 on the season with 12 HR’s & 39 RBI’s however, has been crushing the Phillies in this series, as he is 4 for 10 with 2 HR’s & 6 RBI’s. Dahl has posted a .916 OPS vs. RHP and has posted a .331 average/1.001 OPS at Coors Field on the year.
