DFS – Fantasy Football - NFL DraftKings Lineup, Picks & Advice – Week 5 – 10/7/18
Football season is back and let’s take a look at Sunday’s “featured” slate that features 12 games and starts at 1:00 pm (EST)!
QB – Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) – If you haven’t seen the Over/Under for the ATL/PIT game, it’s set at an incredible 57.5 points which means we can expect an incredible amount of scoring in this game and I wanted to make sure I had either Roethlisberger or Ryan in my lineup. Roethlisberger has only put up 8 TD’s while throwing 5 INT over his first 4 games, however, he has been throwing the ball a ton as he is averaging 353.5 passing yds/g. The Falcons are one the best match-ups on the slate as their defense has allowed opponents to average 40.0 ppg over their last 2 games, and 30.5 ppg on the season. Roethlisberger has plenty of outstanding weapons on the offensive end and I can see him having a big day against the Falcons pass defense that ranks just 25th in the NFL, allowing 284.0 ppg.
RB – T.J. Yeldon (JAC) – T.J. Yeldon once against will be a nice option this Sunday as we learned earlier this week that the Jaguars Leonard Fournette has already been ruled out for the Jaguars game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Yeldon has 205 rushing yards and a TD on 49 carries on the ground, but where I really like him this week is a treat out of the backfield in the passing game. Yeldon has 14 receptions out to the backfield for 125 yards and a TD. Jacksonville will have its hands full with the KC offense however, their defense has been questionable this season as they currently rank 31st in pass defense (328.5 yds/g) & 28th in rush defense (123.2 yds/g). Yeldon is currently listed as questionable due to an ankle injury, however, early reports are that he should be ready to go on Sunday.
RB – David Johnson (ARZ) – It’s been a disappointing start to the season for David Johnson, however, for this price, I like him this week in his match-up against the San Francisco 49er’s who rank just 20th in total defense, allowing 380.5 yards per game. Johnson has his most productive game last week against the Seahawks as he has 71 rushing yards and a TD on 22 carries while also having 3 receptions for 41 yards. Johnson is the most talented offensive weapon on the Cardinals and we know he’ll been on the field for the majority of the offensive snaps. The Cardinals will still rely heavily on Johnson with Josh Rosen behind center, however, Rosen should help the production of Johnson as he has shown more of ability to throw it downfield which will hopefully prevent opposing teams stacking the box against Arizona.
WR – Julio Jones (ATL) – Get ready to see a lot of Atlanta & Pittsburgh players as we’ve mentioned that the over/under in this game is one of the highest we’ve seen in years, as it’s currently at 57.5 points. I’m paying up for Julio Jones as their just no one in the Pittsburgh backfield that will be able to stop him. Jones still is having trouble finding the end zone, however, he does come into this game with a 29 receptions for 502 yards on the season. The Steelers secondary has been torched as of late and Pittsburgh currently ranks just 29th in passing defense (304.8 yds/g). Jones has been targeted 46 times already this season and I think he is going to find the end zone on Sunday.
WR – JuJu Smith-Schuster (PIT) – As we’re going with Roethlisberger for our QB, I needed to get at least one of his main targets in our lineup and I’m going with JuJu Smith-Schuster as he has been more productive than Antonio Brown and comes in at lower price. Smith-Schuster is benefiting from the extra attention that Antonio Brown has been getting early in the season and so far, has 36 receptions for 416 yards and a TD. Smith-Schuster has gotten an incredible 41 targets over his last three games and with the Atlanta secondary missing a couple starters in their secondary, I think we’ll see Smith-Schuster get at least 100 receiving yards and could have a monster day if he can find the end zone.
WR – Calvin Ridley (ATL) – Calvin Ridley was pretty much non-existent in Week 1, however, has exploded on the scene since for the Flacons as over the last three weeks, he has 15 receptions for 264 yards and an incredible 6 TD’s. Ridley is the perfect counterpart with Julio Jones as he has incredible speed and if he gets into space, has the ability to take to the house. Ryan obviously has gained trust in the rookie out of Alabama as he has 19 targets over his last three games and when Pittsburgh tries to provide safety help for Jones, Ridley should have some decent opportunities to continue to add onto this TD total.
TE – Vance McDonald (PIT) – Vance McDonald has been a great addition to the Pittsburgh Pirates as in his three games this season he has 12 receptions (12 targets) for 200 yards and a TD. McDonald looks like he is going to be more of the passing threat for the Steelers over Jesse James and we love his YAC ability as over the past two weeks, we’ve seen him stiff-arm and run over anyone that tries to take him down. With the coverage on the outside for Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster, the middle of the field should be wide open for McDonald and for his price, especially with high many points this game might feature, I think he is great value at this price.
FLEX – Ricky Seals-Jones (ARZ) – We only had $2,900 left at this point, so we needed to find some value and I think we did with Ricky Seals-Jones. Seals-Jones hasn’t put up monster numbers as he has just 10 receptions for 123 yards and a TD, however, Seals-Jones should have plenty of opportunities to pile up some offensive stats as he was on the field for over 90.0% of the offensive snaps this season for the Cardinals. Jones had a slow start to last weeks game however, him and the rookie Rosen hooked up on two big catches for 52 total yards in the 2nd half and as the 49ers main focus will be on David Johnson, I think Seals-Jones will have the opportunity for a good game and I like his upside more now that Rosen is behind center.
DEF – Baltimore Ravens – I know this will not be a popular pick as it seems like everyone is rooting for the Browns and Baker Mayfield, however, I really like the Ravens defense this weekend against the rookie who although can make big plays, has shown that he will also turn the ball over as he had 2 fumbles & 2 INT in his recent game against Oakland. The Ravens defense has been solid this season, allowing just 275.8 yards per game and that should even improve as they get one of the best CB’s back this week in Jimmy Smith which should make the Ravens secondary one of the best backfield’s in the NFL.
Please check back Sunday as we’ll make any necessary adjustments due to “confirmed lineups”.
