DFS – Fantasy Football - NFL FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – Week 6 – 10/14/18
Update (12:33 PM) - Updated Lineup! Good Luck!
Football season is back and let’s take a look at Sunday’s “Main” slate that features 12 games and starts at 1:00 pm (EST)!
QB – Jameis Winston (TB) – James Winston is back under center for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I think he is in a great spot against the Atlanta Falcons. Winston made his first appearance of the season, coming in off the bench for Ryan Fitzpatrick after the game was well out of hand, and although he did throw two INT’s, he otherwise looked decent as he completed 16 of 20 passes for 145 yards and a TD. Atlanta has really struggled on the defensive end to start the season as they rank 31st in scoring defense (32.6 ppg) and just 23rd in passing defense (277.2 passing yds/g). Winston was solid last season agianst the Flacons, throwing for 299 yards and 3 TD’s and as the Buccaneers playmakers should have plenty of great match-ups against a Falcons defense that has been decimated by injuries, I think Winston is in for a great day for a reasonable price.
RB – Todd Gurley II (LAR) – Gurley is the most expensive RB on the slate, however, he is well worth in his match-up agianst the Denver Broncos this week. Gurley has been an absolute monster for the high-flying Rams offense as he comes into this game averaging 26 FanDuel points per game. Gurley already has 7 rushing TD’s on the season while averaging 83.0 rushing yds/g and has also been heavily involved in the passing game as he has 19 receptions on the season for 230 yards and 2 TD’s. The match-up for Gurley couldn’t be better as he is facing a Broncos team that ranks just 30th against the rush (139.6 rushing yds/g) and is coming off a game in which they allowed Isaiah Crowell to rush for 219 yards and a TD on just 15 carries. Gurley needs a big game to pay off for this price however, the match-up couldn’t be better and I can see Gurley going off for a 30-point game in this one.
RB – Joe Mixon (CIN) – Joe Mixon came back from injury last week and looked healthy as the 2nd year man out of Oklahoma rushed for 93 yards on 22 carries while also grabbing 3 receptions for 22 yards and a TD against the Miami Dolphins. Mixon has a solid matchup agianst the Pittsburgh Steelers who come into this game ranked 15th in rushing defense (105.0 rushing yds/g) and just 29th in total defense (401.2 yards/game). Mixon is a threat out of the backfield in the passing game as he did have 5 receptions for 54 yards in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts and as Mixon should be a three-down back with Giovani Bernard already ruled out, I expect a big game out of Mixon in what could be a high-scoring game.
WR – Mike Evans (TB) – The TB/ATL game will be highly targeted this week as the over/under is currently set at 57 and as we do have Jameis Winston as our QB this week, it was almost necessary to ensure we had Mike Evans going with him. Evans is off to a fantastic start this season as he comes into this game with 3 TD’s while averaging 7.3 rec/game for 106.5 yds/g. Evans is averaging more than 10 targets per game over his last three games and we’ve already mentioned how the Falcons have really had a hard time keeping opponents off the scoreboard as over their last three games, their allowing their opponents to average more than 40.0 ppg. Evans had a TD in last year’s game agianst the Falcons as Atlanta will be very inexperienced in their secondary due to injuries, I just don’t see anyone in the Falcons being able to slow down the physical Evans in this one.
WR – Julio Jones (ATL) – I’m staying in the TB/ATL game as I need to at least have one Falcons WR in my lineup agianst the Buccaneers who recently made the Bears Mitchell Trubisky look like the 2nd coming of Tom Brady two weeks when they allowed the 2nd-year QB to throw for 6 TD’s. The Buccaneers rank dead last in the NFL in passing defense (358.0 yds/g) which means in my eyes, that Julio Jones is in for a monster day. Jones is once against having trouble finding the endzone, however, he still has been outstanding as he currently comes into this game averaging 6.8 rec/g for 112.8 yds/g. Jones has registered at least 9 targets in all but one of the Falcons games this season and as we’ve seen some big performances by fellow star WR’s in Michael Thomas (16 rec; 180 yds; TD) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (9 rec; 116 yds), I expect Jones to have double-digit receptions and a TD in this one.
WR – Chester Rogers (IND) – We’ve gone with a lot of big names so far, so it’s going to be value the rest of the way and it starts with the Colts Chester Rogers in his match-up agianst the New York Jets. With TY Hilton out, the Colts have relied heavily on Rogers as of late as over the past two weeks he has hauled in 16 receptions for 151 yards on 22 targets. The Jets have been below average this season against the pass this season as they are allowing 266.6 passing yds/g which included allowing Case Keenum throw for 377 yards last week. Rogers seems like the #1 option for Andrew Luck outside of Eric Ebron who is questionable with a shin injury and as I expect plenty of targets for Rogers, I think he has some great value at this price.
TE – Cameron Brate (TB) – Cameron Brate has only seen 10 targets this season, however, he is still producing as over the last two games he has 6 receptions for 63 yards and 2 TD’s. Brate should only benefit from Jameis Winston being back behind center as he finished last season with 48 receptions (77 targets) for a respectable 591 yards & 6 TD’s. Brate and Winston showed a solid connection towards the end of last season as Brate had TD’s in 4 straight games. O.J. Howard is currently questionable for the game due to an MCL injury however, even if he does go, I think Brate still sees plenty of opportunities and could have a solid day at this minimum price as I think the middle of the field will be plenty open as the Flacons focus on trying to slow down Evans and Jackson on the outside.
FLEX – Courtland Sutton (DEN) – Courtland Sutton is starting to get more comfortable in the Broncos offense and as the has the best size of any Broncos receiver, I like him as a value play at the “Flex” position this Sunday agianst the Rams. Sutton, the talented rookie out of SMU, has 5 receptions for 69 yards and a TD over the last two weeks and we like Sutton as he is a great red zone target for Case Keenum with his size. I love this matchup against the Rams as I expect that the Broncos will be passing the ball plenty while trying to fight back into this game, which should only help Sutton.
DEF – Baltimore Ravens – On the defense end, I’m going to be going with the Baltimore Ravens as I think they have a nice match-up against the Tennessee Titans who rank just 29th in the NFL in total scoring in 17.2 ppg. The Ravens are holding opponents to a league low, 15.4 ppg and currently rank 4th in the NFL in passing defense (215.4 passing yds/g) and 5th in rushing defense (88.4 rushing yds/g). The Ravens have done a decent job at getting to the QB as they have 15.0 sacks on the season and as they have arguably the best secondary in the NFL, I think the Ravens are a great value at this price for Sunday.
Please check back Sunday as we’ll make any necessary adjustments due to “confirmed lineups”.
