DFS – Fantasy Football - NFL FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – Week 7 – 10/21/18
Football season is back and let’s take a look at Sunday’s “Main” slate that features 10 games and starts at 1:00 pm (EST)!
I’m away this weekend but I’ll do my best to make any updates prior to kickoff on Sunday!
QB – Kirk Cousins (MIN) – I’m all in on Minnesota this week and it begins with their QB Kirk Cousins who comes into this game completing a career best 71.2% of his passes for 12 TD & 3 INT while averaging an incredible 320.2 passing yds/game. Cousins has some great weapons at his disposal in Adam Thielen & Stefon Diggs and gets a great match-up against a New York Jets defense that ranks just 22nd in the NFL in passing defense as they are allowing 272.3 passing yards/game.
RB – Tarik Cohen (CHI) – Tarik Cohen has the best nickname in all of the NFL with the “human joystick” and with the struggles of Jordan Howard, looks more and more like the lead back for the Bears. Cohen has break away potential whenever he touches the ball and has been effective as both a runner (32 rushes, 170 yds, TD, 5.3 yds/carry) and a receiver (21 recpetions, 259 yards, TD). I imagine the Bears will be playing from behind which give Cohen additional chances in the passing game and as I think he’ll be a nightmare matchup for the Patriots linebackers out of the backfield, I’m expecting a big game for Cohen on Sunday.
RB – Nick Chubb (CLE) – With Carlos Hyde no longer in Cleveland, it looks like Nick Chubb is going to be the featured back out of the Browns backfield going forward and obviously has some great value at his current price tag that will no doubt go up after this week. Nick Chubb only has 16 rushing attempts so far this season but he has made the most of his chances as he has 173 rushing yards (10.8 yds/carry) & 2 TD’s. Chubb was one of the best RB’s in all of College Football before he injured at Georgia and showed earlier this season he still has the breakaway speed for big plays as he had TD’s runs of 63 & 41 yards against Oakland earlier this season.
WR – Adam Thielen (MIN) – Adam Thielen plays with a chip on his shoulder and he proving to everyone that his breakthrough season in 2017 (91 receptions, 1276 yards, 4 TD) was no fluke as over the first 6 weeks of this season, Thielen has already compiled 58 receptions (79 targets) for 712 yards (118.7 yds/g) & 4 TD. Thielen has recorded a TD in three straight games and as he has seen at least 12 targets in 5 of his 6 games this season, I think he dominant season continues against the Jets on Sunday.
WR – Stefon Diggs (MIN) – With Thielen putting up video game like numbers, Diggs is somewhat being forgotten about which is crazy as the talented WR out of Maryland comes into this game with 40 recpetions (59 targets) for 435 receiving yards & 3 TD. Diggs has some of the best hands in the NFL and the breakaway speed to turn any reception into a TD and as I think Minnesota is going to put up 30+ points, I’m perfectly comfortable rostering both Thielen & Diggs.
WR – Brandin Cooks (LAR) – With the money I’m saving on Nick Chubb, I’m able to spend up across the board at the WR position and going to take a chance on the speedy Brandin Cooks in his good match-up against the San Francisco 49ers. This should be a high scoring game and I think we could Cooks with a long TD receptions against the 49ers defense that ranks 25th in passing defense (279.0 passing yds/g). Cooks has had a nice first season with the Rams, collecting 28 receptions, 505 yards, & a TD.
TE – David Njoku (CLE) – David Njoku brings some nice value this week as it looks like he has become one of Baker Mayfield targets over the past two weeks. Njoku has 27 receptions on the season for 245 yards and a TD however, has collected 13 receptions (23 targets) for 124 yards & a TD over the past two weeks. Njoku and the Browns couldn’t ask for a better matchup as they will up against the Buccaneers who ranks dead last in the NFL in passing defense (355.8 passing yds/g).
FLEX – Josh Gordon (NE) – Josh Gordon is starting to look like the old Josh Gordon and that has that has to be a scary thought for the rest of the NFL now that the fact he has Tom Brady throwing to him. Gordon has 10 receptions for 141 yards & 2 TD’s on the season and is coming off a game against Kansas City with 9 targets. Gordon seems fully up and going now that he has been with the Pats for a few weeks and as I’m not afraid of a Bears defense that just allowed Brock Osweiler to throw for 380 yards & 3 TD’s, I think Gordon is line for a big game.
DEF – Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jacksonville defense has looked like a shell of itself over the past two weeks, but after last week’s embarrassing performance against the Cowboys, I think Jacksonville bounces back here in a good match-up against Houston. I like this match-up against Houston as although they have a talented QB in Deshaun Watson, the Texans have little to no ground game and Watson has actually struggled with turnovers, committing 9 turnovers so far this season. Jacksonville is talented to getting pressure on the QB and as the Texans have allowed the 2nd most sacks in the NFL this, I like Jacksonville this week.
Please check back Sunday as we’ll make any necessary adjustments due to “confirmed lineups”.
