NBA – Fantasy Basketball – DraftKings Lineup, Picks, & Advice – 10/25/18
We have a 4-game slate for Thursday, October 25th and let’s take a look at the games, key injuries, and our initial FanDuel lineup.
7:00pm – Cleveland at Detroit (Spread: DET -9.5; O/U 216.5)
7:00pm – Portland at Orlando (Spread: POR -4; O/U 214.5)
8:00pm – Boston at Oklahoma City (Spread: BOS -1; O/U 217.5)
10:30pm – Denver at LA Lakers (Spread: DEN -2.5; O/U 234.5)
Key Injuries/Inactive Players
Rajon Rondo (Suspension) – Out; Will Barton (Groin) – Out; Brandon Ingram (Suspension) – Out; Kevin Love (Foot) - Out
PG – Jamal Murray (DEN) - $5,900 – Let’s just get this out in the open……I’m going to be targeting the DEN/LAL game tonight as the over/under is far above any of the other match-ups. Jamal Murray has generally been a hit or miss DFS player as although he has a high ceiling (40+ points), he also is very prone of putting up a 15-20 point performance. Murray has been solid this season as he is averaging 13.8 ppg, 3.5 apg, 2.8 rpg, & 1.0 spg and although he got banged up a bit against Golden State, he looked good in just 19 minutes against the Kings as he put up 19 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound and a steal. Murray exploded for a 43.25 DraftKings performance against the Suns earlier this season and as this should be a fast-paced match-up agianst the Lakers, I think Murray has a huge night if his shot is falling.
SG – Gary Harris (DEN) - $6,500 – I’m a big fan of Gary Harris with his ability to get at you at both ends and there is no way I’m not getting him in my lineups tonight against a Lakers team that has really struggled defending the SG position this season. Harris is averaging 32.5 mpg and has been outstanding as he is currently posting 21.0 ppg, 3.0 apg, 3.5 rpg, & 1.3 spg. Harris will be relied on a bit more offensively with Will Barton being out for the next month or two and although he has struggled from beyond the arc early in this season, I think Harris is in line for a big game as he is currently shooting 50.8% from the field.
SF – Nik Stauskas (POR) - $4,000 – With Kevin Love out and the value I’ll be getting with a few Cleveland players, I’ve decided to adjust strategies and get Lebron in my lineup. I had to find value in some other areas also, and it started with the SF position with going with Nik Stauskas who has had a surprisingly effective season to date as he is averaging 14.0 ppg, 2.7 apg, & 3.7 rpg. Stauskas looks like he is the top scoring option off the Portland bench and I’ve been encouraged with his playing time in which he is averaging 26.0 mpg including a 30 minutes performance agianst the Wizards last Monday in which he had 15 points (5-10 FG), 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block.
PF – Lebron James (LAL) - $10,700 - As I mentioned above, I’ve decided to pay up for Lebron. Lebron is the best player on the slate and as the DEN/LAL game has by far the highest over/under, I just could resist having both James and Jokic in my lineup. James have been outstanding once again this season as he is averaging 25.3 ppg, 8.8 apg, 8.0 rpg, & 1.8 spg. James has had the ball in hands much more over the last few games while Rajon Rondo is suspended and I’m not afraid of the back to back as he logged just 28 minutes last night. This game is projected to be close one and if it is, Lebron will have a monster stat line and I expect we’ll be getting some extra points for a triple-double.
C – Mason Plumlee (DEN) - $3,900 – Mason Plumlee is only averaging 16.0 minutes per game, however, he has been really effective in limited minutes as he is averaging 7.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.5 apg, & 1.3 spg. Plumlee is shooting a solid 50.0% from the field and faces a Lakers team that has been absolutely destroyed by big men this year, especially when JaVale McGee isn’t on the floor. Plumlee saw 20+ minutes in his last game agianst Sacramento and as I think expect him to get 20-25 minutes in this one, I think he can have some major value.
G – Jordan Clarkson (CLE) - $4,600 – With Kevin Love out, Jordan Clarkson value sky rockets up. Clarkson is averaging a respectable 16.8 ppg, 1.5 apg, & 3.8 rpg on the season even though he is seeing just 23.0 mpg. Even with the low minutes, Clarkson has no trouble getting up his shots as he has at least 12 shots in each of his 4 games this season. With Kevin Love out, Clarkson’s usage has skyrocketed and as the Cavaliers will need a big offensive night from Clarkson to stand any chance, I think he is a great value play with Love out of the lineup.
F – Lance Nance Jr. (CLE) - $4,400 – Larry Nance Jr. made his first appearance of the season last night and although he struggled a bit with his shot, still had a decent DFS night as he had 6 rebounds, 4 assists & 2 steals to go along with 4 points. There is a slight concerning Nance Jr. just came back from injury and the Cavilers are on the 2nd half of a back to back, however, Cleveland will need minutes out of Nance Jr. tonight now that Love is sitting and their going agianst Detroit who has some great size down low.
Utility – Nikola Jokic (Den) -$9,800 – I was tough trying to decide whether to go with Lebron or Jokic, but I decided on the Joker because I think he gives you the same upside that Lebron does at $1,700 less. Jokic is establishing himself as one of the best players in the NBA and in 30.0 mpg this season, is averaging 23.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 7.0 apg, & 1.5 spg. Jokic has had arguably the most impressive game so far this season as against the Suns, Jokic put up a stat line of 35 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals, & a block on a perfect 11 for 11 from the field. Jokic does have a lower floor than Lebron, however, with his ability to rebound and pass the basketball, is a triple-double threat every time he touches the floor and as I think this will be a close, high-scoring game, I think Jokic hits 60+ DraftKings points tonight.
Please remember, this is just an initial lineup which is likely to change depending on the final injury status of some of the key members that we’re listed above The NBA is tough when it comes to DFS do to a lot of the information concerning injuries not being available until shortly before tip-off, however, we will provide an updated lineup about 15-30 minutes prior to the slate starting so please come back for the updates!
