NBA – Fantasy Basketball – Fanduel Lineup, Picks, & Advice – 10/25/18
We have a 4-game slate for Thursday, October 25th and let’s take a look at the games, key injuries, and our initial FanDuel lineup.
7:00pm – Cleveland at Detroit (Spread: DET -8; O/U 221.5)
7:00pm – Portland at Orlando (Spread: POR -3; O/U 218)
8:00pm – Boston at Oklahoma City (Spread: BOS -1; O/U 212.5)
10:30pm – Denver at LA Lakers (Spread: DEN -3.5; O/U 238)
Key Injuries/Inactive Players
Rajon Rondo (Suspension) – Out; Will Barton (Groin) – Out; Brandon Ingram (Suspension) – Out
Jamal Murray (DEN) - $6,800 – Let’s just get this out in the open……I’m going to be targeting the DEN/LAL game tonight as the over/under is far above any of the other match-ups. Jamal Murray has generally been a hit or miss DFS player as although he has a high ceiling (40+ points), he also is very prone of putting up a 15-20 point performance. Murray has been solid this season as he is averaging 13.8 ppg, 3.5 apg, 2.8 rpg, & 1.0 spg and although he got banged up a bit against Golden State, he looked good in just 19 minutes against the Kings as he put up 19 points, 4 assists, 1 rebound and a steal. Murray exploded for a 43.1 FanDuel performance against the Suns earlier this season and as this should be a fast-paced match-up agianst the Lakers, I think Murray has a huge night if his shot is falling.
Reggie Jackson (DET) - $6,600 – Reggie Jackson has been pretty consistent this season as he has scored between 26.2 – 30.1 points in his three games this season however, you have to love the value he brings tonight against a Cleveland Cavaliers team that currently ranks 29th in team defense. Jackson has seen plenty of playing team this season as he is averaging 34.0 mpg to start the season and is currently posting a stat line of 20.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, & 2.0 rpg. Cleveland has been awful defending the PG & SG positions this season and as Jackson has no problem taking shots (20 shots agianst BKN earlier this season), I think we can see a 35-40 point night from him.
Gary Harris (DEN) - $7,100 – I’m a big fan of Gary Harris with his ability to get at you at both ends and there is no way I’m not getting him in my lineups tonight against a Lakers team that has really struggled defending the SG position this season. Harris is averaging 32.5 mpg and has been outstanding as he is currently posting 21.0 ppg, 3.0 apg, 3.5 rpg, & 1.3 spg. Harris will be relied on a bit more offensively with Will Barton being out for the next month or two and although he has struggled from beyond the arc early in this season, I think Harris is in line for a big game as he is currently shooting 50.8% from the field.
Evan Fournier (ORL) - $6,300 – Evan Fournier isn’t the flashiest of picks however, I think he is one of the best values on the board tonight at this price range in his match-up against the Portland Trailblazers. Fournier is really the only go-to option on the perimeter for the Magic and you know he is going to get his shots up as over the Magic first 4 games, he is averaging 16.5 shots per game. Fournier has a respectable scoring average of 17.5 ppg but what has been real encouraging is that he is producing more in the other categories as he averaging 4.8 apg & 3.5 rpg which currently would both be career highs for the 6-year veteran out of France. Portland has been below average defending the shooting guard position, I think Fournier can continue his recent strong play as he has averaged 39.3 FanDuel points over his last 2 games.
Lance Stephenson (LAL) - $3,900 – Let’s be clear…..I don’t expect Lance Stephenson to put up another 47.6 FanDuel points tonight agianst Denver, however, as he certainly has that upside in this match-up, I’m willing to take a chance with him at this price-point, especially knowing my low score gets dropped. Stephenson is averaging 11.0 ppg, 3.8 apg, & 4.3 rpg on 20.5 mpg this season, however, with Brandon Ingram out, he certainly has the potential to see the floor more over the next couple of games. Stephenson has his shot falling last night as he was 10 for 14 from the field to go along with 8 assists & 8 rebounds and as this should be a high-scoring game in which he sees about 25 minutes, I like his upside again tonight.
Gordon Hayward (BOS) - $5,600 – Hayward is certainly not an outstanding GPP play as he currently is minutes limits coming back from injury, however, you have to still give him a look tonight as outside of Lebron, the SF position is somewhat weak. Hayward has been productive in his limited minutes as the talented SF is averaging 11.7 ppg, 1.7 apg, 5.3 rpg, & 2.0 spg. The match-up couldn’t be better for Hayward as the Thunder have been the worst team in the NBA when it comes to defending the SF position this year and as I think Hayward is pretty safe for 25-30 points, I think he is solid play at this price point.
Kyle Kuzma (LAL) - $7,200 – Kyle Kuzma was a bit of a disappointment last night in a solid match-up agianst the Phoenix Suns, however, I’m not going to be shy plugging him right back in my lineup as he will get another start agianst the Denver Nuggets. Kuzma exploded for a 37-point performance in his last home game in which he went 15 for 25 from the field and comes into this game averaging 20.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg & 1.8 apg on the season. Denver has been solid defensively agianst the PF position this season however, Kuzma always will have huge upside as he has no hesitation, even with Lebron on the floor, putting up shots as he has hoisted 40 FG attempts over his last two games.
Nikola Jokic (Den) -$10,300 – I was tough trying to decide whether to go with Lebron or Jokic, but I decided on the Joker because I think he gives you the same upside that Lebron does at $1,700 less. Jokic is establishing himself as one of the best players in the NBA and in 30.0 mpg this season, is averaging 23.3 ppg, 10.5 rpg, 7.0 apg, & 1.5 spg. Jokic has had arguably the most impressive game so far this season as against the Suns, Jokic put up a stat line of 35 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 steals, & a block on a perfect 11 for 11 from the field. Jokic does have a lower floor than Lebron, however, with his ability to rebound and pass the basketball, is a triple-double threat every time he touches the floor and as I think this will be a close, high-scoring game, I think Jokic hits at least 55-60 FanDuel points tonight.
JaVale McGee (LAL) - $6,200 –JaVale McGee is playing like a man trying to prove that he is a good NBA center (despite what Shaq thinks…) and has been a very productive DFS player early this season as he is averaging 38.2 FanDuel ppg and has hit at least 30 in all 4 of the Lakers games this season. McGee is averaging just 23.8 mpg on the season, however, has an impressive stat line of 16.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.5 apg & 3.3 bpg. McGee has put up double-digit shot attempts in each of his last 3 games and as his price has caught up to his productivity as of yet, I think he is almost a most play tonight as he has 40 FanDuel point upside.
Please remember, this is just an initial lineup which is likely to change depending on the final injury status of some of the key members that we’re listed above The NBA is tough when it comes to DFS do to a lot of the information concerning injuries not being available until shortly before tip-off, however, we will provide an updated lineup about 15-30 minutes prior to the slate starting so please come back for the updates!
