DFS - Fantasy Football - NFL DraftKings Thursday Night Showdown - MIA & HOU - 10/25/18

Miami comes into this game losing 3 of their last 4 games and if they have any chance to keep the AFC East competitive, they need to pick up a win on the road tonight. Miami lost to Detroit last week by a 32-21 margin and really struggled against the rush as Miami allowed the Detroit Lions of all teams, to rush for 248 yards on 35 carries (7.1 yds/att).

Houston has bounced back from a tough start to the season to win four straight games and currently sits atop the AFC South after their impressive 20-7 victory agianst Jacksonville last week. Houston’s defense has been tough as they haven’t allowed more than 16 points over their last three games. The offense has had trouble putting up points agianst two solid defenses in the Bills & Jaguars, however, there is no doubting that the Texans have talent in the impact positions with QB Deshaun Watson, WR DeAndre Hopkins, and RB Lamar Miller.

Let’s take a look who we are rolling with for our DraftKings lineup tonight!

MVP – Lamar Miller (MIA) - $11,400 – Lamar Miller has everything going for him in this match-up to have a huge game. Miller is coming off his best performance of the season as he rushed for 100 yards & a TD on 22 carries while also being targeted 3 times out of the backfield. As we mentioned above, the Dolphins rushing defense was exposed by the Detroit Lions in their past game and currently rank just 29th in the NFL in rushing defense as they are allowing 136.7 rushing yds/g. Miller should be motivated going up agianst his former team and as I think the Texans realize that Watson needs to a better job protecting himself, they’ll once agianst give Miller 20-25 carries. Miller as the MVP is a bit of risk, however, I think he has good potential for a huge night and can give us a leg up on the competition at the MVP spot which I think will be filled by DeAndre Hopkins & Deshaun Watson by the majority of teams.

FLEX – Brock Osweiler (MIA) - $8,200 – Brock Osweiler has actually done a nice job filling in for Ryan Tannehill as over his last two games, he has completed 66.6% of his passes for 619 passing yards, 5 TD, & 2 INT. As I think Houston will jump out to a lead in this one, I’m going to target Osweiler as I think he can pile up the stats as the Dolphins will need to throw the ball to get back into this game. Houston is a tough defensive team, however, they are weaker on the defensive side of things when it comes to the passing game as they rank 12th in the NFL in passing yds/g at 237.7 yds/g. Osweiler has done a nice job avoiding taking sacks as the Dolphins have allowed just 4 sacks in his two games and I think he’ll need to throw for 300 yards for the Dolphins have a chance in this game, I’ll take my chances with the former Arizona State QB.

FLEX – DeVante Parker (MIA) - $3,400 – It has not been a great week or year for DeVante Parker as he has seen limited time due to injury/coach decisions and his agent certainly didn’t make things better this week, criticizing the Dolphins head coach, Adam Gase. The good news is that, Parker did come out and publicly stated he disapproved of his agent’s comments and wants to be in Miami, so I’m really hoping that this will help turn a corner in Parker’s season. There is no doubting the talent that Parker brings to the table and the Dolphins will need him tonight as the WR group is very thing with both Kenny Stills & Albert Wilson not available due to injury. Parker has big play ability if he gets in open space and as I think he’ll see a fair share of targets tonight, he has great value at just $6,500.

FLEX – Danny Amendola (MIA) - $6,800 – As we mentioned with DeVante Parker, the Dolphins are very thin at WR tonight which really ups the value of Danny Amendola tonight. Amendola comes into this game with 30 receptions for 294 yards and a TD on the season however, has had a much bigger role in the offense since Brock Osweiler has been under center as Osweiler has targets Amendola 18 times over the past two weeks, compared to just 20 targets from Tannehill over the first five games of the season. As I’m going with Osweiler, I wanted to have two Miami receivers in the lineup and as Amendola showed us last season with the Patriots, he is capable of big games if he gets the targets.

FLEX – Kenyan Drake (MIA) - $7,000 – Kenyan Drake has been in more of an RB timeshare with Frank Gore than expected, however, there is still no doubting that he has the higher upside as he has big play ability. Drake has just 282 rushing yards & 2 TD’s on 58 carries, however, he did rip off a 54-yard TD run last week agianst the Lions and I like him more tonight for his ability to catch balls out of the backfield. Similar with the logic that I’ve mentioned with the Miami players, Drake is clearly the passing back for the Dolphins and has 15 receptions for 105 yards and a TD. Houston should be able to get some pressure on Osweiler which will make him have to check down more to Drake and if he can just break one big play and get us a TD, he’ll have solid value tonight at this price point.

FLEX – DeAndre Hopkins (HOU) - $12,000 – I mentioned that I think that Miami will be playing from behind and although I want a lot of the Texans offensive damage to be done by Lamar Miller as he is in my MVP slot, I’m not going to fade DeAndre Hopkins who is one of the best receivers in the league. Hopkins comes into this game with 47 receptions for 707 yards & 4 TD’s and will face a Dolphins pass defense that ranks just 23rd in the NFL as they are allowing 268.6 passing yds/g. Hopkins has scored TD’s in 3 of his last 4 games and although he has put up just 113 receiving yards over his past two games, he should be able to find more success agianst the Dolphins tonight.
