Key Injuries/Inactive Players
Kris Dunn (Knee) – Out; James Harden (Hamstring) – Out; Bogdan Bogdanovic (Knee) – Out; Iman Shumpert (Hip) – Out; Andrew Wiggins (Quadriceps) – GTD; Harrison Barnes (Hamstring) – GTD; DeMarre Carroll (Ankle) – Out; Bobby Portis (Knee) – Out; Dirk Nowitzki (Ankle) – Out; Kevin Knox (Ankle) – Out; Dwight Howard (Back) – Out; Julius Randle (Foot) – GTD; Kosta Koufos (Hamstring) - Out
Chris Paul (HOU) - $9,700 – As I mentioned on Twitter (@BrettCU05) yesterday, it was going to be hard for me to not play Chris Paul tonight. Paul is coming back from his suspension tonight against his former team, the LA Clippers, and looked in his first two games that he hasn’t lost a step as he is currently averaging 23.5 ppg, 8.0 apg, 6.0 rpg, & 1.5 spg. Houston will be without James Harden tonight so basically the entire Houston offense will run through Paul, so his usage rate should be extremely high. The Clippers have some decent defensive guards in their backcourt, however, they’ve been below average against “all-around” guards and as we know Paul will be motivated coming off the suspension and will want to do damage against the Clippers, I see a big night from him with Harden on the sidelines.
Stephen Curry (GSW) - $9,900 – Stephen Curry as has been light out for the Golden State Warriors so far this season as the outstanding point-guard comes into this game averaging 34.6 ppg, 6.8 apg, 4.8 rpg, & 1.0 spg. Curry was on absolute fire in his previous game agianst the Wizards, as even though he didn’t see the floor in the 4th quarter, he put up 51 points (15-24 FG; 11-16 3PG), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, & a block. The only problem with Curry tonight is that there is a solid chance of this game being a blowout, however, the Warriors generally have struggled a bit more defensively on the road so I think there is a slight chance they’ll need Curry in the 4th and as I think he’ll want to give the folks at Madison Square Garden a show, I expect Curry to have another huge night and at least hit 5-6x value.
Damyean Dotson (NY) - $5,200 – Damyean Dotson is coming off his best game as an NBA player as the shooting guard out of Houston went for 20 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and a steal in 34 minutes against the heat this past Wednesday and I love his potential to have another big game against the Warriors tonight. I like Dotson as he has played 30+ minutes in his last two games and I think he’ll get his minutes tonight whether or not the Knicks can avoid a blowout agianst the Warriors. As we mentioned above, the Warriors generally are a worse defensive team on the road and as I think the Knicks will need Dotson to have a big game for them to stand a chance, I like his value at just $5,200, especially as he has averaged about 35 FanDuel points a game over his last two.
Wesley Matthews (DAL) - $5,100 – We’ll want to make sure that Harrison Barnes doesn’t came back tonight, however, if he doesn’t, I think we have a solid play in Wesley Matthews tonight in his match-up against the Toronto Raptors. Matthews is averaging an impressive 34.0 mpg to start the season and although he is shooting just 40.0% from the field, he comes into this game averaging 19.3 ppg, 3.3 apg & 2.8 rpg. Matthews has put up an average of 18.3 shots per game, including double-digit attempts from the beyond the arc, over his last three games and if he can catch fire tonight, he’ll easily hit his value at $5,100.
Jabari Parker (CHI) - $7,000 – With both Bobby Portis and Lauri Markkanean out for the Bulls for the foreseeable future, Jabari Parker DFS value is going to be high. Parker has been seeing considerable time off the bench (26 mpg) however, I think as the Bulls limited options when it comes to the SF/PF position, Parker will be seeing 30+ minutes going forward. Coming into this matchup, Parker is averaging 14.8 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, & 1.0 spg, and the Hornets have been less than average against forwards this season, I’m banking on Parker to have a big game tonight for the Bulls.
Gerald Green (HOU) - $3,700 - Gerald Green is going to be my “punt/low-scoring” option tonight however, I do think there is some major upside with Green tonight in his match-up agianst the Clippers. Green will have a tough match-up as he probably will have Avery Bradley on him when he is in the game, however, Green is a streaky shooter that certainly can provide instant offense for the Rockets when needed. Green saw 28 minutes of action on Wednesday against the Jazz and as Harden is out tonight, I’ll give him a chance tonight.
Montrezl Harrell (LAC) -$5,400 – Montrezl Harrell has been far and away that best big man option for the Clippers this season and comes into this game averaging 9.5 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.5 apg & 2.3 bpg. Harrell has seen more and more minutes as the season as gone on as he has seen 23+ minutes in his last two games and has been lights out from the field as of late, hitting 13 of his last 16 shots. Harrell seems to bring extra motivation when going agianst his former club, the Houston Rockets, as in 24 minutes of action in their game last Sunday, Harrell posted a 43.5 FanDuel point performance after going off for 17 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal.
Marvin Bagley III (SAC) - $5,500 – Marvin Bagley III has been one of the more impressive rookies in the league this season as he comes into this game averaging 14.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.4 apg, & 1.2 bpg. Bagley III minutes are hard to get a read on as he has seen 30+ minutes twice this season, however, saw just 22 minutes in the Kings last game against the Grizzlies. The good news is that even with just 22 minutes, Bagley still had a decent stat line of 13 points, 6 rebounds, & 1 assist, so he certainly can still provide value if the minutes aren’t completely there. Washington has been awful agianst athletic forwards this season and as I think Bagley III will get a good number of minutes tonight, I think he’ll easily hit value at this price.
Karl-Anthony Towns (MIN) - $8,500 – I’m pumped that I was able to afford Towns after already going with Paul and Curry as I love the match-up that Towns has tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks. Towns has struggled a bit with his shot this season as he is shooting just 42.6% from the field (career 54.1% shooter) however, he still is averaging a solid stat line of 16.4 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, & 2.0 bpg. Milwaukee has played a very fast-paced style of basketball to start the season which will benefit Towns and between the fact that Towns should see an uptick of usage if Wiggins is out agianst and that the Bucks don’t have a big man that can slow down Towns, I think Towns has his first big game of the season tonight.
