DFS – Fantasy Football – DraftKings NFL Monday Night Showdown – NE @ BUF – 10/29/18
It’s Monday night and we have AFC East matchup between the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills.
Let’s take a look who we are rolling with for our DraftKings lineup tonight!
MVP – James White (NE) - $16,000 – It’s always difficult to try and predict what the New England Patriots will do at the running back position, however, with Sony Michael out with a knee injury, White could be in for a big week against the Bills. White is generally used in the passing game as he has 45 receptions on the season for 380 yards and 6 TD however, he will also be used in the backfield as the has 189 rushing yards and a TD on 40 attempts. The Patriots will no doubt use Kenjon Barner in this game however, it was encouraging last week to see White get 11 rushing attempts to go along with his 8 receptions. Buffalo has a tough defense, however, they are worse at defending the run and as I think White will have the ball in his hands as much as any offensive player tonight, I’m putting him in my MVP slot.
FLEX – Tom Brady (NE) - $18,000 – I was tempted to fade Brady as the Patriots have a good chance off blowing the doors off this game early, but when you look at the other options, I just don’t think we can’t roster Brady as he is almost a sure fire bet to get some decent points tonight. Brady continues to define his age as on the season he has completed 68.0% of his passes for 16 TD & 7 INT while averaging 268.0 passing yds/g. Brady holds an incredible 28-3 record against the Bills over his career and as I put White as my MVP, I’m hoping that Brady and White can connect in the endzone multiple times tonight.
FLEX – Chris Hogan (NE) - $9,500 – I’m going to have to start finding value and I’m going to take a chance with Chris Hogan. Hogan hasn’t had his best year as he comes into this game with 21 receptions for 284 yards and 2 TD’s however, you have to like the motivation that Hogan comes into this game going against his former team. Josh Gordon is going to be held out the first few drives tonight due to the fact that he was late at a team meeting this week which should get Hogan on the field a bit more and as Gronk looks like he is going to play, I think Hogan will be the guy that just needs to beat single coverage when it comes to the Patriots receivers.
FLEX – Charles Clay (BUF) - $7,000 – It’s tough to roster any Buffalo offensive player however, for the Bills to have any chance in this game, they are going to have to throw the ball. Clay has had a down season for the Bills as he comes into this game with just 16 receptions on the season for 133 yards. The good news for Clay is that since Josh Allen went down with an injury, Clay has seen at least 5 targets in each of his last two games. Derek Anderson has shown in the past, especially in this time with Greg Olsen, in Carolina that he does like to target TE’s and you have to imagine Clay would be one of the top targets he would look at with his experience. Clay has 23 career TD’s, so he knows how to get into the end zone and I think he’ll get his first TD tonight.
FLEX – Steven Hauschka (BUF) - $9,000 – Buffalo’s offense is not very good however, the Patriots defense hasn’t been anything to write home about this season as they come into this game ranked 27th against the pass (275.9 passing yds/g) and 20th against the rush (114.0 yds/g). The Patriots are an interesting defense as although they do give up years, they have a “bend but done break” style which generally leads for a good number of opposing FG attempts. Hauschka has been outstanding this season, hitting 10 of 11 FG’s (6 for 40+) and I expect him to have at least 3-4 FG’s tonight.
