It was an interesting night last for our DraftKings team as although we didn’t avoid the landmines that were Tyus Jones & Josh Jackson, I was still able to cash in my 11-person 50/50 (surprisingly came in 1st) with a 284.00-point performance. Our team was led by solid performances by Nikola Jokic (60.5 points), Stephen Curry (58 points), Rudy Gobert (51.75 points), and Draymond Green (49.0 points).
For tonight’s lineup, I’m starting off with Trae Young tonight as the SAC/ATL matchup is going to be one of the best games to target tonight. Atlanta has one of the higher implied totals tonight (114.8) and plays a very fast pace. Young has had a solid start to his NBA career as he comes into this game averaging 19.1 ppg, 6.6 apg, & 2.9 rpg and you have to love the fact that he is getting attempting on average, 15.0 shots per game. Sacramento ranks 26th against the PG position and although there is some risk with Young, he has tremendous upside if his shot is falling.
Buddy Hield is playing like the guy we used to watch at Oklahoma and with Bogdanovic still out for the Kings, Hield is taking major advantage with the extra minutes as he has played an average of 38 minutes in each of his last 4 games. Atlanta is ranked just 26th agianst the SG position and which could mean a big night for Hield who comes into this game averaging 18.9 ppg, 2.4 apg, & 6.1 rpg. Hield put up a double-double (25 points, 11 rebound) in his most recent outing against the Magic and I expect a similar performance with the Kings implied total set at 116.3 right now.
I’m going to be taking a roll of the dice with Atlanta’s Kent Bazemore. Bazemore is a tough DFS guy to roster as you just never know what you’re going to get from him. Bazemore is as inconsistent as they come as we’ve already seen this year as he put up a monster 53.75 DraftKings point performance against Dallas, then followed that with a disappointing 10.5 DraftKings point performance against Dallas. Bazemore has potential and the biggest reason why I like him tonight is that that Kings are rank just 19th against the SG position and I think Bazemore can do some damage on the offensive end tonight as he should have Buddy Hield on him, who is not known for his defense.
If you haven’t realized by now, I really like the SAC/ATL matchup tonight and that continues at the PF spot with Nemanja Bjelica who is really coming into his own in his first season with the Sacramento Kings. On the season, Bjelica is averaging 15.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 bpg & 1.3 spg and has seen 30+ minutes of action in each of the Kings last 4 games. Bjelica has the ability to stretch the floor and hit the three but also has been a monster on the boards as of late as in his last 4 games, he is averaging 9.0 RPG. The Hawks rank just 25th vs. the PF position as we do expect a good amount of points in this one, I expect Bjelica to continue to produce.
At the Center position tonight, we’re spending up for Joel Embiid of the 76ers. Philadelphia has the highest implied total tonight, set at 116.8, and I think Embiid has an opportunity to be a big part of it. Embiid disappointed us the other night against Atlanta, however, I’m not too worried about that tonight against a Clippers team that ranks 28th against the position. Embiid is averaging 27.0 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 4.1 apg & 2.1 bpg on the season and there is no reason to think he is not going to have a big night tonight.
I like some of the value we have that Cleveland has tonight and going with their rookie PG, Collin Sexton at our Guard spot. Sexton comes into this matchup averaging 12.0 ppg, 2.3 apg, & 2.7 rpg in 24.1 mpg. Sexton has scored in double-digits in each of his last 4 games and you have to be encouraged that he saw 28 minutes while posting 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists & a block in Cleveland’s first game with Larry Drew at the helm. Sexton has a great motor and with Denver being on the 2nd half of a back-to-back in which their starters saw major minutes last night in an OT win at Chicago, I think Sexton can easily hit value at this price.
At the Forward spot, I’m going with Marcus Morris of the Celtics. Morris has been the most consistent Celtics player early this season as he is averaging 14.4 ppg & 7.4 rpg in about 25.4 mpg. Morris has anchored the 2nd unit and has gotten up at least 10 shots in each of his last 4 games. I think this going to be a close game and as Morris will be used late in the 4th if the game is close (31 minutes this past Tuesday vs. Detroit), I think he’ll get us 30+ DraftKings points tonight.
We were all over E’Twaun Moore last night as he had his best DFS performance of the season, getting us a solid 33.5 DraftKings points with a stat line of 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. Moore in my opinion is more value with Anthony Davis on the court as he gets plenty of open looks while teams double-down on Anthony Davis. Moore put up 16 shots last night which is encouraging and as they’ll need his scoring tonight agianst the Trail Blazers, I think Moore can continue his solid play, especially as he is shooting 52.6% from the field & 44.4% from beyond the arc on the season.
