The top PG’s on the slate have some great matchups tonight and I’m going to go right to the top and roster Damian Lillard (PG) of the Portland Trailblazers in their matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. Lillard has started this season playing some of the basketball of his career as he is averaging 29.1 ppg, 6.0 apg, & 5.1 rpg and you know he is going to have no trouble putting up points against the defense of either Ball or Rondo tonight. This game has the highest O/U on the slate and as I expect it to be close, I think we can expect a big game for Lillard tonight.
I had to change to my initial lineup around as while writing this article, the news broke that Goran Dragic is going to be out tonight. I was originally going to pay up for a 2nd PG, however, the value with Tyler Johnson (SG) agianst the Hawks is too good to pass up. The Hawks rank just 27th vs. the PG position so the matchup is great, and Johnson has looked decent in his last two starts as is averaging 11.5 ppg, 3 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.5 spg in 25.5 mpg.
Nik Stauskas (POR) has seemed to find a nice role with the Portland Trailblazers as the 4th year shooting guard out of Michigan comes into this game averaging 10.1 ppg, 2.1 apg, & 2.6 rpg. Stauskas makes a solid value play tonight as we should see a bunch of points in this LAL/POR and the fact that Stauskas has 10+ points & 20+ minutes in each of his last three games. Stauskas is shooting 46.6% from the field and an impressive 48.4% from beyond the arc and as he put up an impressive 34.0 DraftKings point performance (24 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal) against the Lakers to open the season, I think he is worth the risk tonight.
I needed to get at least one LA Laker in my lineup tonight and I decided to go with Kyle Kuzma (PF) as I feel he has as good as upside as any Laker in tonight’s matchup against the Trailblazers. Kuzma is having a nice season for the Lakers as he comes into this game averaging 19.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg & 1.8 apg. Kuzma is still playing 30+ minutes even with the return of Brandan Ingram from his suspension and we love how Kuzma has no problem putting up shots as he is averaging 16.1 shots per game. Kuzma seems to have a solid chemistry with LeBron and if he gets 15+ shots tonight, it could be a 40-50 DraftKings point game for Kuzma.
With shifting things around, I was able to get one of my favorite players in the league I my lineup in Denver’s Nikola Jokic (C). Jokic is most likely to a little lower owned tonight as he is going against Rudy Gobert however, I’m not scared of his matchup, especially after we saw Mark Gasol put up 17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Jokic comes into this game averaging 19.4 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 6.6 apg, 1.3 bpg, and 1.3 spg and with his ability to shot from the outside, I think he has a big game against Gobert and the Jazz who are on the 2nd half of a back-to-back.
I’m going with another value pick with Chicago’s Antonio Blakeney (G) who should be in a high-scoring game against James Harden and the Houston Rockets. Blakeney doesn’t provide much on the defensive end however, the former LSU Tiger doesn’t know how to score the basketball as evident by his 22 point performance against the Pacers last night. Blakeney doesn’t have the most consistent minutes in the world but he is averaging about 18.1 mpg including playing 26 minutes last night. Blakeney has no problems putting up shots when he is in the game as he is averaging more than 10.0 spg over this last three contests and as I imagine that the Bulls will need his scoring to keep up with the Rockets tonight, I think he can get us 25-30 DraftKings points.
I’m a big fan of the Spurs main offensive weapons tonight as to go along with DeMar DeRozan, we’re going with LaMarcus Aldridge (SA). Aldridge hasn’t been dominate as of late, however, he is still having a solid season as he comes into this game averaging 20.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, & 1.3 bpg. Aldridge is shooting just 44.3% on the floor this season but is coming off a solid game in which he was 10 for 13 for 24 points in just 24 min against the Suns and if he can keep that hot hand going tonight, he should easily crush his value at low price tag of $8,100.
At the utility spot, I’m going back to the HOU/CHI game and going with Wendell Carter Jr. (Utility) who I just feel is highly unpriced on DraftKings at just $5,500. Carter Jr. is averaging 10.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 3.0 apg & 1.7 bpg in 25.3 mpg. Carter only played 24 minutes last night which I think plays to our advantage concerning the Bulls are on a back-to-back and even with the less time last night, Carter Jr. produced 30+ DraftKings points for the 4th consecutive game. Houston has been decent agianst centers on the season however, as I already mentioned that upside and production that Carter Jr. brings is just too much to pass at this price.
