I’ve made a few changes (mostly at the at the PF/C position) however, sticking with a similar backcourt from what I had in this morning Initial Lineup article.
The top PG’s on the slate have some great matchups tonight and I’m going to go right to the top and roster Damian Lillard (PG) of the Portland Trailblazers in their matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers. Lillard has started this season playing some of the basketball of his career as he is averaging 29.1 ppg, 6.0 apg, & 5.1 rpg and you know he is going to have no trouble putting up points against the defense of either Ball or Rondo tonight. This game has the highest O/U on the slate and as I expect it to be close, I think we can expect a big game for Lillard tonight.
I had to change to my initial lineup around as while writing this article, the news broke that Goran Dragic is going to be out tonight. I was originally going to pay up for a 2nd PG, however, the value with Tyler Johnson (PG) agianst the Hawks is too good to pass up. The Hawks rank just 27th vs. the PG position so the matchup is great, and Johnson has looked decent in his last two starts as is averaging 11.5 ppg, 3 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.5 spg in 25.5 mpg.
I’m going to stay with the Heat as I think there is outstanding value with Rodney McGruder (SG) tonight agianst the Hawks. McGruder has been a nice surprise for the Heat this season as he is currently averaging 14.3 ppg, 3.7 apg, & 6.0 rpg in 34.1 mpg. McGruder has put up 30+ FanDuel points in 4 of his 8 games this season as the Hawks have really struggled agianst opposing backcourts, could have a big night as his usage should be a bit higher with Dragic out.
How good has DeMar DeRozan (SG) been for the Spurs this season! DeRozan has adjusted well with his new team this season as he comes into this game averaging 27.9 ppg, 7.3 apg, 5.7rpg & 1.3 spg. DeRozan has a decent matchup agianst the New Orleans Pelicans who give up a bunch of points and rank just 27th in team defense on the season. DeRozan is shooting an incredible 52.1% from the field this season and as this should be a close game, I can see 40 minutes from DeRozan tonight.
I’m paying up a bit more at the Center position with my confirmed lineup, so I decided to go with some value with Evan Turner (SF) in the Trailblazers great matchup agianst the Lakers. Turner has had a solid season as he comes into this game averaging 9.9 ppg, 4.5 apg, 5.1 rpg, & 1.1 spg in 24.8 mpg. Turner has the ability to pile of DFS points in a variety of ways and is coming off his best DFS game of the season as he put up 35.1 FanDuel points agianst the Pelicans last Thursday (14 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal). Turner was solid agianst the Lakers, putting up 13 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals in just 21 minutes and as he has seen at least 25 minutes in his last 4 contests, I think he’ll hit value at his $5,000 price tag.
Juancho Hernangomez (SF) had shown great value when he gets time on the floor as in the games he has seen 20+ minutes, he has put up about 4x-5x value including a monster 34.8 point performance agianst Cleveland last Thursday. We don’t know how much time Hernangomez is going to get tonight agianst Utah so he is our “low scoring play” of the night but we do like the upside he brings and expect to have at least an opportunity for a solid night based on his recent performance.
I needed to get at least one LA Laker in my lineup tonight and I decided to go with Kyle Kuzma (PF) as I feel he has as good as upside as any Laker in tonight’s matchup against the Trailblazers. Kuzma is having a nice season for the Lakers as he comes into this game averaging 19.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg & 1.8 apg. Kuzma is still playing 30+ minutes even with the return of Brandan Ingram from his suspension and we love how Kuzma has no problem putting up shots as he is averaging 16.1 shots per game. Kuzma seems to have a solid chemistry with LeBron and if he gets 15+ shots tonight, it could be a 40-50 FanDuel point game for Kuzma.
I needed some value at the PF spot, so I decided to go with Trey Lyles (PF) who although doesn’t get a bunch of minutes, has been really effective with them as he comes into this game averaging 20.9 FanDuel points per game. Lyles comes into this game averaging 9.9 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg & 1.0 spg and is coming off a solid performance agianst the Cavaliers in which he put up 12 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block, and a steal. Lyles has put up double-digit points in 4 of his last 5 games and although he has struggle with his shot beyond the arc, Lyles certainly has the ability to stretch the floor and knock down the three-pointer.
With shifting things around, I was able to get one of my favorite players in the league I my lineup in Denver’s Nikola Jokic (C). Jokic is most likely to a little lower owned tonight as he is going against Rudy Gobert however, I’m not scared of his matchup, especially after we saw Mark Gasol put up 17 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Jokic comes into this game averaging 19.4 ppg, 10.0 rpg, 6.6 apg, 1.3 bpg, and 1.3 spg and with his ability to shot from the outside, I think he has a big game against Gobert and the Jazz who are on the 2nd half of a back-to-back.
