DFS – Fantasy Football - NFL FanDuel Lineup, Picks & Advice – Week 9 – 11/4/18
UPDATE (12:30 PM) - Made some last minute changes to get D.J. Moore also in the lineup for my CAR stack! Image updated below. Good Luck!
If you have already seen my DraftKings article, this is not a mistake. Both the FanDuel & DraftKings roster fit perfectly for both sites this week!
Here is my team for both sites and let’s hope for a big week!
QB – Cam Newton (CAR) - $8,600 – Newton is the most expensive QB for Week 9 that is not named Patrick Mahomes and for good reason as Newton is playing some of his best football of his career and has an outstanding matchup agianst the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. On the season, Newton has a 97.4 QBR as he has completed 66.4% of his passes for 13 TD & 4 INT while averaging 235.1 passing yds/g. Newton is still as dangerous as ever with his legs as on the season, he has rushed for 309 yards and 4 TD. Tampa Bay has been one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL this season as they are allowing opponents to throw for 319.4 passing yds/g and have allowed a league high 20 TD’s. Newton and the Carolina offense put up 36 points at home against a very good Baltimore defense last week and it’s almost scary to think what Newton and company will be able to do agianst Tampa Bay at home.
RB – Kareem Hunt (KC) - $8,500 – It’s almost necessary to have at least two Kansas City Chiefs in your lineup with how many points they put up and for my team this week, it starts with their running back, Kareem Hunt. Hunt lead the NFL in rushing last season and although he had a bit of a slow start this season, he has really picked it up over the last 5 weeks and currently comes into this game with 5 rushing TD’s while averaging 74.0 yds/g on 16.8 att/g. Hunt has been equally a threat out of the backfield as he has 4 receiving TD’s over his last three games and has 20 receptions for 262 yards & 5 TD’s on the season. Cleveland has really struggle on the ground this season as they rank just 28th against the rush on the season and is coming off a week in which they allowed James Conner of the Pittsburgh Steelers combined for 212 yards (146 rushing yds; 66 receiving) & 2 TD’s.
RB – Lamar Miller (HOU) - $6,500 – Lamar Miller is starting to flash that potential that has been talked about the last few seasons as the Houston RB is coming off back-to-back 100 yards rushing games, including a 133 yards & 1 TD performance agianst the Miami Dolphins in week 8. On the season, Lamar Miller has 2 rushing TD’s and is averaging 72.0 yds/g on 16.1 att/g. Houston’s DeShaun Watson is pretty banged up right now and I feel in an attempt to keep him healthy, the Texans have been utilizing Miller a bit more and that could be a very good thing against a Denver defense that comes in ranked 27th agianst the rush, allowing 135.8 rushing yds/g. Miller has averaged 20 att/g in his last two games and as I think he’ll get those touches again, I think it’s going to be the 3rd consecutive week in which Miller finishes a game with 100+ yards and a TD.
WR – Tyreek Hill (KC) – As I mentioned with Kareem Hunt, it’s hard to not roster at least two Kansas City Chiefs in your roster and my 2nd Chief this week will by Tyreek Hill. Hill had some question marks coming into this week with a groin injury, however, he looks 100% to go as he practiced full on Friday and no longer has any injury designation for his game agianst the Browns. Hill is the most explosive receiver in the NFL and is having a monster season as he has 7 receiving TD’s on the season while averaging 88.1 receiving yds/g on 5.5 rec/g. Cleveland has struggled this season agianst the pass as they currently rank just 26th in the NFL in passing defense as they are allowing 275.6 passing yds/g and as Antonio Brown torched the Browns last week with 2 TD’s, I see Hill getting behind the safeties for one big TD catch on Sunday.
WR – Devin Funchess (CAR) - $6,400 – As I’m going with Cam Newton as my QB, I want a couple of his receivers in their great matchup agianst Tampa Bay and it starts wit Devin Funchess. Funchess comes into this game averaging with 3 TD’s on the season while averaging 57.3 yds/g on 4.6 rec/g. Funchess only had 3 catches (3 targets) for 27 yards last week, however, I’m not reading too much into that as he saw 11 targets the week before and was the main receiving threat going agianst the Ravers who have two of the best cornerbacks in the game. Tampa Bay’s secondary has been really hurt by injuries this season and the Buccaneers are allowing teams to put up a league high 33.3 ppg agianst them on the season (39.8 ppg in road games), I think Funchess will be able to find the endzone in this one.
WR – Courtland Sutton (DEN) - $5,500 – I’ve been a big fan of Courtland Sutton as I cover him a bit when he was at SMU and I’m really excited that he is going to be the 2nd receiver for the Broncos going forward. Sutton has 2 TD’s on the season while averaging 40.5 yds/g on 2.1 rec/g however, he has seen 37 targets on the season and that number should only go up going forward. Sutton is big receiver and great red zone threat as he 6’ 4”, 216 pounds and with Houston’s main focus will be on stopping Emmanuel Sanders, I think it will open some one on one matchups that Sutton can take advantage of on the other end.
TE – Greg Olsen (CAR) - $6,200 – Greg Olson looks like he is fully back from injury and comes into his solid matchup agianst the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with TD receptions in each of his last two weeks. Olsen was impressive in a tough matchup agianst the Baltimore Ravens last week as he had 4 catches for 56 yards and a TD and since returning from a foot injury has 10 catches (16 targets) for 109 yards and 2 TD’s. We’ve talked plenty about how bad Tampa Bay has been defensively and that doesn’t stop here as the Buccaneers rank 29th in FanDuel points allowed vs. the TE position. Olsen is a bit expensive this week but as we are going with Cam Newton and the matchup is right, I like Olsen this week.
FLEX – Tre’Quan Smith (NO) - $5,100 – Tre’Quan Smith has only 10 receptions on the season however, he has made the most of those catches as he has 191 yards and 2 TD’s on the season. I think Smith is a great value play this week as we’re going to be expecting a lot of points in the Rams/Saints game and I imagine we’ll be seeing Brees air it out, especially if the Saints are fighting from behind in this one. Smith has outstanding break away speed and showed that ability earlier this season against the Redskins in which he had 3 receptions for 111 yards and 2 TD’s. Smith has 3 receptions in each of his last 3 games and as Brees is starting to seem more comfortable with the rookie out of UCF, I think he could be in for a solid game.
DEF – Chicago Bears - $5,300 – The Bears are a high price for a defense this week but, they are going up agianst a Bills offense that ranks dead last in the NFL in scoring at 10.9 ppg. The Bills will be turning back to Nathan Peterman who has 9 career INT’s in 7 games and that’s basically all you need to know on why spending up for the Bears is worth it this week.
Please check back Sunday as we’ll make any necessary adjustments due to “confirmed lineups”.
