NBA – Fantasy Basketball – DraftKings Lineup, Picks, & Advice – 11/5/18
Update (6:08 PM) - Made some changes to the lineup as we're not 100% on the status of Tim Hardaway Jr. as of yet. I decided to replace Rubio with Shelvin Mack as Mack has posted three consectuvie games of 30+ DraftKings points and I think will see plenty of time agianst, even if the Warriors blow the Grizzlies out as expected. I decided to put Antonio McKinnie as a value pick as I think he'll get some extra time tonight with Andre Iguodala out and could even see 20-25 minutes if it's a blowout. McKinnie put up a double-double in 27 minutes against the Bulls last week so he does have some upside. The only other change is that we have Aaron Gordon now in at our Forward postion in a decent matchup aginast the Cavaliers. Image is updated below! Good Luck!
We have a 9-game slate for Monday, November 5th and let’s take a look at the games, key injuries, and our initial DraftKings lineup.
This is just my initial lineup based on information we have available in the morning. Injuries play a huge role in our DFS lineup so please check back later! If I have to make a real last minute update due a late injury or a starting lineup change in which I don’t have the time to update the website, I’ll post it on my Twitter (@BrettCU05) so make sure you hit that “follow” button!

PG – Russell Westbrook (OKC) - $11,100
SG – Damyean Dotson (NYK) - $4,900
SF – Stanley Johnson (DET) - $3,700
PF – Anthony Davis (NO) - $11,300
C – Bam Adebayo (MIA) - $4,300
G – Ricky Rubio (UTH) - $6,000
F – Jerami Grant (OKC) - $4,400
Utility – Allonzo Trier (NYK) - $4,200
Russell Westbrook (PG) is expensive at $11,100 however, you couldn’t ask for a better matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans who rank 30th in the NBA vs. opposing PG’s. Westbrook looks completely healed from a knee injury that caused him to miss a few games at the beginning of the season as he comes into this matchup averaging 25.3 ppg, 8.8 apg, 8.5 rpg, and 2.3 spg. Westbrook is putting up 20+ shots a game this season and is currently shooting at a very impressive 50.4% from the field. Oklahoma City has the highest implied scoring total on the slate today at 120.3 and I think we’re going to see a triple-double out of Westbrook tonight.
I’m going to be looking at the New York Knicks for some value plays today on the basis that Tim Hardaway Jr. is out due to a back injury suffered in yesterday’s loss to the Wizards. If Hardaway Jr. is out, I really like Damyean Dotson (SG) who comes into this game averaging 12.6 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.0 apg, & 1.0 spg in 30+ minutes per game. Dotson will be more heavily relied on the offensive end if Hardaway Jr. is out and he has flashed some upside this season as he put up a 20 points, 10 rebounds performance agianst the Heat earlier this season. The matchup for the Knicks is great as the Bulls have really struggled defensively and for this price, I think Dotson can easily hit value tonight.
Stanley Johnson (SF) hasn’t been the player that the Pistons were expecting after using the 8th overall pick on him in the 2015 draft, however, I like his potential tonight as he looks like he will be getting the start due to an injured Reggie Bullock who although is a GTD right now, looks doubtful to play. Johnson comes into this game averaging just 7.1 ppg, 1.6 apg, & 4.6 rpg on the season but we have to like the upside he has considering has received 30+ minutes in each of his last three games. Johnson is a risk, however the Heat are ranked just 26th against the SF position and if Johnson can get us around 25 DraftKings points, he’ll be worth the risk tonight.
As the NO/OKC game should have a bunch of points, I could resist pairing Russell Westbrook with the Pelicans Anthony Davis (PF). Davis has been a bit banged up as of late but did play last Saturday and is probably for tonight. Davis is arguably the best player in the league and comes into this game averaging 23.8 ppg, 12.2 rpg, 4.8 apg, 3.5 bpg, & 2.0 spg. Davis has already put up 3 games of 59.5+ DraftKings points, including a 77.0 point performance against Houston earlier this season and as this has all the makings of a high scoring, tight game, I want Davis in my lineup tonight.
I hate that I’m not going to be able to put in Boban Marjanovic but to pay up for Davis, I didn’t have pretty much any salary left for the Center position. Luckily for us, with Hassan Whiteside already ruled out of tonight’s game agianst the Pistons, we are going to be able to go with Bam Adebayo (C) at the very affordable price of just $3,800. Adebayo is averaging 6.8 ppg & 6.8 rpg this season in about 19.3 minutes per game, however, as he should be seeing 30+ minutes tonight as the Heat will need his size agianst Drummond & Griffin, I think he can get us 25-30 FanDuel points and easily hit value tonight.
We’re going with the Utah’s Ricky Rubio (PG) as we should once against seen an uptick in his usage rate with Donovan Mitchell out with an ankle injury. We were in the same scenario the other night and faded Rubio which was mistake as he had a 22 points, 11 assist performance agianst the slow paced Memphis Grizzlies. Rubio has an inconsistent shot, however, the upside is there with the amount the basketball should be in his hands tonight and although the Raptors have been good against opposing PG’s, Rubio is a solid play tonight as Vegas has this game being close and the Raptors are on the 2nd half of a back-to-back.
I’m going back to the NO/OKC matchup and going with the Thunder’s Jerami Grant (PF) who has clearly taken over the PF duties for the Thunder. Grant comes into this game averaging 10.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, & 1.3 bpg on the season and is coming off one of his best games of his career as he dropped a 22 point, 4 rebound, 4 assist, & 3 steal performance agianst the Wizards last Friday. Grant is basically averaging 5x value and has he has some upside with his ability to pick up steals & blocks, I like him tonight at just $4,400.
At the Utility spot, I’m going with Allonzo Trier (SG) as of right now on the basis that Tim Hardaway Jr. doesn’t play tonight due to a back injury that he suffered in yesterday’s game against the Wizards. Trier has been a staple off the bench for the Knicks this season as he is averaging 21.5 mpg and has been a solid source of offense for the Knicks as he is averaging 10.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, & 1.1 apg. Trier recently dropped three straight games of 20+ DraftKings point outings and you have to like the matchup agianst the Bulls who rank 25th agianst the SG position.
