This is an interesting slate tonight as we only got 4 games and there is a bunch of top level talent going. As mentioned above, this is just my initial thoughts as I’m sure I’ll be revisiting my lineup throughout the day.
I’m going to be focusing mostly on the LAC/POR & MIL/GS matchups tonight, however, I’m going to pay up for Kyrie Irving (PG) in his solid matchup against the Phoenix Suns. Irving has shaken off a slow start to his season and has been playing outstanding over his last 4 games, averaging 27.0 ppg, 5 apg, 4.8 rpg, 1.2 spg. The Suns have been terrible agianst the PG position this season as they come into this game ranked 30th in defensive efficiency agianst point guards. The Celtics have a bunch of offensive weapons however, Irving looks like he is playing with a chip on his shoulder right now and I think at this price, this matchup is too good to pass up on.
If the Milwaukee Bucks are going to hang with the Warriors tonight, there are going to need big games from their supporting cast and that starts with Eric Bledsoe (PG). Bledsoe has been inconsistent this season, however, we all know the talent he brings to the table and he overall stats aren’t bad as he comes into this game averaging 12.7 ppg, 6.3 apg, & 4.2 rpg. The Warriors rank just 17th in DRPM this season and Bledsoe was very solid agianst the Warriors last season and in their two matchups against Golden State, Bledsoe averaged 20.5 ppg, 4.5 apg, 3.0 rpg, & 4.0 spg.
At the shooting guard position, most of the public will be on Dennis Schroder with Russell Westbrook out, however, I’m going to go in a different direction and go with both SG’s in the MIL/GSW game in Kris Middleton (SG) & Klay Thompson (SG). Middleton is having another outstanding season as he comes into this game averaging 19.5 ppg, 4.1 apg, 5.4 rpg, & 1.3 spg. Middleton has struggled a bit with his shot as of late, however, is still shooting 44.3% from the field and 48.1% from beyond the arc. Middleton has a solid usage rate of 22.5% and we should see him putting up plenty of three-pointers tonight. As for Thompson, Milwaukee plays at an extremely fast pace and has really struggled against the SG position as they rank 17th in DEFF and 18th in DRPM. Thompson has generally seen a decent usage bump when Draymond Green is out of the lineup and between the fact that Thompson is shooting 52.5% of his last five games and the Bucks just allowed CJ McCollum just went off for 40 points agianst the Bucks, I like Thompson tonight.
One of the reasons why I’m going with Bledsoe and Middleton is because I’m fading Giannis Antetokounmpo as I just can’t spend $12,500 on him tonight with some many other starts available. Antetokounmpo needs hit 63 FanDuel points just to hit 5x value which he has only done once this season when he went off for 78.6 FanDuel points agianst Philadelphia. Instead, I’m going to spend my money on Kevin Durant (SF). Durant might not have as high as a ceiling as Antetokounmpo, however, this is still a guy that is averaging about 48 FanDuel points/game and could be in for a big night tonight. Durant is averaging 27.7 ppg, 5.9 apg, 7.5 rpg and is shooting a crazy 56.5% from the field this season. With Green out, the Warriors will need Durant to produce more than he already does and I think he is almost a must-play on this slate tonight.
At the other SF spot, I’m going to go with a value pick in the Trail Blazers Evan Turner (SF). Turner has a solid role with the Trail Blazers 2nd unit and is having a productive season as he is averaging 10.4 ppg, 4.1 apg, 5.5 rpg, & 0.9 spg on the year. Turner is seeing about 25.0 mpg this season which is a pretty good number off the bench which includes a respectable usage rate of 19.2%. Turner can do a bit of everything on the court and as has put up two 35+ FanDuel point performances over his last 4 games, I think he is a solid value play at just $4,600.
At the PF position, I’m plugging in Kevon Looney (PF) just because he should see about 20 minutes and is in the highest O/U on the slate. Looney comes into this game averaging 5.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, & 1.4 apg and is coming off one of his better games of the season as he had 9 points & 9 rebounds against the Grizzlies. We can’t expect much from Looney as he’ll probably be our “low score” player that doesn’t count tonight, however, as he can get us 20 FanDuel poitns, I think the matchup and price is worth the risk tonight.
In my frontcourt tonight, I’m going with the two big men from the Clippers in Montrezl Harrell (PF) & Boban Marjanovic (C). Harrell has been outstanding for the Clippers this season as he comes in averaging 12.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.3 apg & 1.7 bpg on the season. With Doc Rivers finally realizing that Gortat really doesn’t deserve any time on the court, Harrell has seen an uptick in minutes as he has averaged 27.5 mins in his last two games. Portland ranks just 17th in DEFF agianst PF on the season and I think Harrell will continue his solid play tonight. Marjanovic is finally getting some playing time which is great news for DFS players as Boban is one of the most productive players out there when is on the court. Marjanovic’s playing time should be safe tonight as Portland will counter with Jusuf Nurkic who isn’t much of a threat from the outside and as Marjanovic has an outstanding 21.4% usage rate, I’m getting Boban in my lineup tonight.
