NBA - Main Slate (7:00 PM) - FanDuel Lineup - 11/9/18 - Initial Thoughts
NBA – Fantasy Basketball – Fanduel Lineup, Picks, & Advice – 11/9/18
Updated (6:24 PM) - Hi Everyone! Made some updates. Decided to get Fox & Wiggins in the lineup which gives us heavy expsoure to the MIN/SAC game. I decided that Tatum was a bit too risky so I switch him out with Blake Griffin and went with Howard at center. Image updated below. Good Luck!
We have a 7-game slate for Friday, November 9th and let’s take a look at the games, key injuries, and our initial FanDuel lineup.

If I have to make a real last-minute update due a late injury or a starting lineup change in which I don’t have the time to update the website, I’ll post it on my Twitter (@BrettCU05) so make sure you hit that “follow” button!

Derrick Rose (PG) is reminding us how good he once was, and you have to love the chip on his shoulder he is playing with right for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Rose has been seeing major minutes at the PG position with Jeff Teague out with a knee injury and he has taken full advantage of them, including that 50-point game he dropped on Utah. Over his last two games, Rose has combined for 52 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists and has seen average of 36.0 mpg. Rose hasn’t been shy about putting shots up as he had 37 shot attempts in those two games as between the fact that the MIN/SAC has the highest O/U and that the Kings rank just 28th in DRPM, I think Rose is an obvious play tonight.
I’m going back and forth between De’Aaron Fox and Kemba Walker (PG) however, as of right now, I’m going to Walker in his matchup agianst the Philadelphia 76ers. Walker is having a career year as the 7-year veteran comes into this game averaging 28.1 ppg, 5.9 apg & 4.2 rpg in 33.5 mpg this season. The matchup on paper doesn’t look great against the 76ers as Philadelphia has done a decent job against opposing PG’s, however, Walker had his best DFS performance of the season at Philadelphia earlier this season as he put up 60.2 FanDuel points (37 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal). Walker put up an incredible 31 shots against the 76ers in that last outing and as he has an incredible 32.2% usage rate, I think Walker is worth the high price tonight.
Buddy Hield (SG) is having his best season as a pro as the 2nd year guard out of Oklahoma comes into this game averaging 20.1 ppg, 2.6 apg, & 5.6 rpg. Hield has a nice matchup agianst the Timberwolves who rank just 28th in DRPM vs. SG and we love the fact that Hield has been putting up an average of about 17 shots per game over his last 5 contests. Going forward, we’ll have to keep more of an eye on Bogdanovic who might take away some of Hield’s minutes, however, as Bogdanovic has already been ruled out tonight, I’m going to take Hield who should be seeing a lot of action tonight.
It’s amazing that Miami is even able to put a team on the court with how many injuries they are dealing with, however, in the DFS world, those injuries generally equal opportunity as value opens up as in the case for Wayne Ellington (SG). Ellington saw a solid 37 minutes in the Heat’s last game agianst the Spurs and played well as he put up 20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals. Ellington probably will see a heavy workload once again tonight and for just the $3,800 is worth the risk.
I’m staying in the IND/MIA game and going with Justise Winslow (SF) who has started to show why he was such a high draft pick in the 2015 draft. Winslow has seen 30+ minutes in each of his last 4 games and has put together some solid stat lines, including a 15 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assist, 2 blocks, & 2 steals performance agianst Atlanta last Saturday. Winslow has starting to look for his offense a bit more as has put up double-digit shots attempts in each of his last 3 games, including 17 shots this past Wednesday agianst the Spurs, and as Winslow is able to fill up the stat sheets in a variety of ways, I think he had some nice value at this price point.
I wanted to get as much action in the MIN/SAC game as I could as it’s projected to be a close/high-scoring game and I’m going to take chance on the Kings Nemanja Bjelica (SF). Bjelica was putting up some monster games for the Kings earlier this season and although he disappeared over his last two games, I think he is a prime spot to bounce tonight. Bjelica is going up agianst his former team which should give him plenty of motivation to put in a good performance and even with the two poor performances, is averaging 13.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.8 apg & 1.5 spg this season. The matchup is solid for Bjelica as the Timberwolves rank just 26th in DEFF & 15 in DPRM agianst the position, I think Bjelica puts up 40+ FanDuel points tonight.
Taj Gibson (PF) doesn’t get as much credit as some of the other Minnesota starts, however, the 9-year veteran continues to produce as he comes into this game averaging 11.2 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.4 apg & 1.3 spg. Gibson has been getting about 28.0 mpg and has put up 10+ shots in 3 of his last 4 games. Gibson has averaged about 39 FanDuel points over his last two games and as this is the matchup I want as much exposure as I can get, I think Gibson has some of the best value tonight at his $5,300 price tag.
With Kyrie Irving out tonight for the Celtics, I think this is going to be great opportunity for Jayson Tatum (PF) to step up and take over the mind offensive role for Boston. With Kyrie out and the Celtics won’t push Hayward that hard on the 2nd half of a back-to-back, I expect Tatum to see about 35 minutes tonight. Tatum has struggled a bit from the floor as of late, however, I just don’t know who the Jazz will put on him to slow him down. Obviously, there is some risk going with this pick as the Celtics/Jazz matchup doesn’t scream out fantasy points, however, I think there is a solid case for Tatum under the circumstances.
Outside of going against the 76ers, Andre Drummond (C) has been an absolute monster this season as he comes into his match-up against the Hawks averaging 18.9 ppg, 16.6 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.3 bpg & 1.0 spg. Drummond has combined for 48 points and 43 rebounds over his two games and I think he is heading for another monster performance against the Hawks who rank just 20th in DEFF & 25th in DRPM vs. the Center position. It’s hard to expect another 20-20 game out of Drummond but I think he more than realistic if the Hawks can keep this one close.
