Draftkings picks and predictions for tonight's Mercury vs. Lynx matchup.

Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx
May 30, 2024 9:30 pm EDT

The WNBA presents a matchup between the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury. Let’s take a look at this game from a Draftkings perspective.

Before we dive into the Minnesota Lynx vs. Phoenix Mercury game let’s review the rules for the Draftkings single game showdown contest.

Draftkings Single Game Showdown Contest Rules

You have $50,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining four players in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field DFS GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.

*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game slate

Here are my Draftkings picks for this evening’s Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx matchup.

Draftkings Picks

Captain-Kahleah Copper $9,400

Phoenix guard Kahleah Copper has been one of the few bright spots for a Phoenix Mercury team that has struggled to start the 2024 campaign. Having stated that, how has Kahleah Cooper been playing from a statistical perspective?

In the seven games that the Phoenix Mercury have played in the 2024 WNBA regular season, Phoenix guard Kahleah Copper has averaged 24.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1 steal a game.

More recently, in the Phoenix Mercury’s 81-78 loss to the New York Liberty two days ago, Kahleah Copper played rather well. Let me be more specific. Mercury guard Kahleah Copper accumulated an impressive 20 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in the Phoenix Mercury’s loss to the New York Liberty.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Mercury’s loss to the Liberty earlier in the week, Phoenix guard Kahleah Copper accumulated 36.3 Draftkings points. It has to be said, those are the type of fantasy numbers I am looking for from a player that I select for the captain position.

In my opinion, selecting the correct captain is of the highest importance if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) Draftkings contest. Having stated that, I think that talented Phoenix Mercury guard Kaleah Copper is a great play at captain for this one game DFS slate.

Flex Plays

Napheesa Collier $11,000

Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier arrives at tonight’s game with the Phoenix Mercury playing exceptional basketball from a statistical perspective. Let’s take a look at Collier’s recent game data to shed light on my previous statement.

In the six games that forward Napheesa Collier has played for the Minnesota Lynx this season, Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has averaged a robust 22.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.7 steals, and 1 block a game.

I also like Napheesa Collier’s matchup this evening. Why? Collier draws a Phoenix Mercury team that has struggled on defense this season. Through seven games played in the 2024 WNBA regular season, the Phoenix Mercury are currently ranked 11th in total team defensive rating and seventh in total points allowed a game in the paint.

Additional players I like to play well this evening (Draftkings price noted): Natasha Cloud $8,800: Courtney Williams $8,200: Alanna Smith $8,600: Kayla McBride $8,400: Sophie Cunningham $7,200: Dorka Juhasz $5,600.
