The CFL presents Draftkings football fans with a regular season matchup between the Ottawa Redblacks and the Edmonton Elks. Let’s take a look at this CFL game from a DFS perspective.
Prior to discussing my DFS picks for the Ottawa Redblacks vs. Edmonton Elks game, let’s review an important note regarding the rules and scoring for the single game showdown contest.
For those readers who are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single game showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.
If you need to review the specific rules for the single game showdown contests feel free to check out the Draftkings website.
I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
*I recommend that all readers review the starting lineups for both teams prior to setting your DFS lineup for this one game CFL slate. Remember, once lineups lock on the Draftkings platform you cannot swap players.
Here are my Draftkings picks for this week’s Ottawa Redblacks vs. Edmonton Elks matchup.
Draftkings CFL DFS Picks
Tre Ford, Quarterback, Edmonton Elks $12,700
Edmonton Elks quarterback Tre Ford has certainly been playing quality football entering this week’s matchup with the Ottawa Redblacks. Having stated that, how has Ford performed from a statistical standpoint? Let’s review Ford’s recent game data from the 2025 CFL regular season to answer that question.
In the three games that quarterback Tre Ford has played for the Edmonton Elks this season, Ford has compiled 738 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, 91 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Two weeks ago, in the Montreal Alouettes 36-23 win over the Edmonton Elks, Edmonton quarterback Tre Ford played rather well. In the Alouettes victory over the Elks, Tre Ford amassed 308 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 31 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Alouettes victory over the Edmonton Elks just mentioned, Tre Ford tallied a massive 32.4 Draftkings points. It has to be said, those are the type of DFS numbers I am looking for from a player that I select at the flex position for a Draftkings CFL Showdown contest.
In my view, Tre Ford is the most likely player to post the most Draftkings points in this CFL regular season game. For that specific reason, I am backing Edmonton Elks quarterback Tre Ford as my lead flex play for this CFL slate.
Steven Dunbar Jr., Wide Receiver, Edmonton Elks $4,800
How important has wide receiver Steven Dunbar Jr. been to the Edmonton Elks offense this season? Let’s examine Dunbar Jr.’s player data from this season to better shed light on my previous statement.
In the three games that Steven Dunbar Jr. has played for the Edmonton Elks in the 2025 CFL regular season, Edmonton quarterback Tre Ford has targeted Dunbar Jr. a robust 20 times. In those 20 targets just mentioned, Dunbar Jr. amassed 14 receptions and 168 receiving yards.
What did we learn from the data just presented? Clearly, Steven Dunbar Jr. is playing at a high level. With that said, I fully expect that trend to continue in this week’s matchup with the Montreal Alouettes.
Additional flex plays I like to perform well in this CFL regular season game (Draftkings price noted): Dustin Crum, Quarterback (Ottawa Redblacks) $12,000: Justin Hardy, Wide Receiver (Ottawa Redblacks) $9,000: Kalil Pimpleton, Wide Receiver (Ottawa Redblacks) $4,400.
