This week, golf fans will be presented with the 2025 Ryder Cup. Let’s take a look at this week’s prestigious event from a Draftkings perspective.
Before I dive into my Draftkings player selections for the 2025 Ryder Cup let’s review the golf course the field will play and the rules for the Draftkings Ryder Cup showdown contest.
Where will the Ryder Cup be played?
The 2025 Ryder Cup will be played at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. This golf course is a par 70 that measures approximately 7,352 yards.
It is noteworthy that Bethpage Black has hosted multiple major championships in the past. Who won the last major played at Bethpage Black? Brooks Koepka won the 2019 PGA Championship with a four round cumulative score of eight under par.
Draftkings Ryder Cup Showdown Contest Rules
You have $50,000 to utilize on five golfers from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team captain. The captain accumulates 1.5 times the standard fantasy points. Additionally, the captain is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.
The remaining four golfers in your lineup will receive the standard fantasy points. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your captain position if you hope to win a large field Draftkings DFS PGA Tour GPP (guaranteed prize pool) showdown contest.
If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the Ryder Cup showdown contest, I recommend that you check out the Draftkings website for more details.
*I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.
Having stated that, this article will provide multiple golfer options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.
Draftkings Ryder Cup DFS Picks
Captain-Scottie Scheffler $11,400
Scottie Scheffler arrives at this week’s 2025 Ryder Cup on the heels of 15 consecutive top nine finishes on the PGA Tour, including a rather impressive five wins (2025 CJ Cup Byron Nelson: 2025 PGA Championship: 2025 Memorial Tournament: 2025 Open Championship: 2025 Procore Championship).
Scottie Scheffler certainly checks the box for me when it comes to key player statistics. Scheffler is currently ranked first in strokes gained approach (1.291), first in par four scoring average (3.89), first in overall strokes gained (2.743), fifth in GIR (greens in regulation-71.39%), first in proximity to the hole (33’4), first in strokes gained off the tee (0.748) and first in bogey avoidance (10.56%) on the PGA Tour.
What did we learn from the data just presented? Clearly, Scottie Scheffler is a generational talent that is playing outstanding golf in 2025. With that said, I fully expect that trend to continue at this week’s Ryder Cup.
Flex Plays
Shane Lowry $5,400
The talented Irishman has compiled three top 23 finishes in his last four events played (DP World and PGA Tours combined), including a 15th place the 2025 Irish Open three weeks ago.
Due to Shane Lowry’s quality finish at the 2025 Irish Open, I decided to take a hard look at the relevant player statistics for the event to determine how Lowry fared relative to the field.
Upon the completion of four rounds of competitive play at the 2025 Irish Open, in relation to the field, Shane Lowry ranked sixth in strokes gained approach (1.95), second in strokes gained tee to green (3.23), seventh in strokes gained off the tee (1.20) and 16th in total strokes gained (1.95).
In my view, Shane Lowry’s low Draftkings price of only $5,400 presents the best fantasy value on this week’s Ryder Cup slate.
Additional golfers I like to play well at this week’s 2025 Ryder Cup (Draftkings price noted): Rory McIlroy $10,200: Bryson DeChambeau $9,400: Tyrrell Hatton $7,400: Ben Griffin $5,800: J.J. Spaun $5,200.
