FanDuel MLB DFS Picks: Diamondbacks vs. Pirates 7/25/25

Major League Baseball presents FanDuel baseball fans with a National League matchup featuring the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Let’s take a look at this MLB game from a DFS perspective.

Before we dive into the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game showdown contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 1.5x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value. Additionally, the MVP is 1.5 times the standard cost of the flex position.

The remaining five players in your lineup will be flex plays. The five flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

*It should be noted that FanDuel does not utilize the pitcher position in single game MLB contests. Having stated that, only batters are available for single game MLB lineups on the FanDuel platform.

Here are my FanDuel picks for this evening’s Diamondbacks vs. Pirates matchup.

FanDuel MLB DFS Picks

MVP-Corbin Carroll, Outfielder, Arizona Diamondbacks $14,000

On Friday night, Major League Baseball presents the opening game of a three-game National League series featuring the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

How are these two teams playing entering today’s MLB game? The Arizona Diamondbacks arrive at the first game of this three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates playing below average baseball. The Diamondbacks have lost three of the team’s last four games played in the 2025 MLB regular season, including a 6-3 loss to the Houston Astros four days ago.

In direct contrast to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Pittsburgh Pirates are playing good baseball entering this evening’s National League game. The Pirates have won three of the team’s last four games played this season, including a 3-0 shutout victory over the Detroit Tigers earlier this week.

Now that we have identified how both of these teams are currently playing let’s shift our focus to tonight’s MLB contest. Talented outfielder Corbin Carroll has been a standout performer for the Arizona Diamondbacks this season. Having stated that, how has Carroll performed from a statistical perspective? Let’s review Carroll’s relevant game data from the 2025 MLB regular season to answer that question.

In the 86 games that Corbin Carroll has played for the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 2025 MLB regular season, Carroll has compiled a .250 batting average, 21 home runs (16th in MLB), 32 walks, 50 RBIs (runs batted in), 66 runs scored, a .325 OBP (On-Base Percentage) and an .882 OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging).

More recently, in the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals five days ago, Corbin Carroll certainly played at a high level. In Arizona’s victory over the Cardinals, Carroll tallied two hits (one triple), one run scored and one stolen base. It should also be noted that in Arizona’s defeat of St. Louis, Carroll accumulated 21.2 FanDuel points.

In my view, Corbin Carroll is the most likely player to amass the most FanDuel points in this MLB game. With that said, I am backing Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll at the MVP position for this one game MLB DFS slate.

Flex plays I like in this game (FanDuel price noted): Ketel Marte, Second Baseman (Arizona Diamondbacks) $12,800: Bryan Reynolds, Outfielder (Miami Marlins) $9,000.
