FanDuel Best WNBA DFS Picks: Storm vs. Aces 9/24/24

FanDuel picks and predictions for this evening's Storm vs. Aces matchup.

Seattle Storm vs. Las Vegas Aces
September 24, 2024 9:30 pm EDT

The WNBA presents a first-round playoff matchup between the Seattle Storm and Las Vegas Aces. Let’s take a look at this game from a FanDuel perspective.

Before we dive into the Seattle Storm vs. Las Vegas Aces game let’s review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.

FanDuel Single Game Contest Rules

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be one star and three flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The final three flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is highly important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

Here are my FanDuel picks for tonight’s Seattle Storm vs. Las Vegas Aces matchup.

FanDuel WNBA Player Selections

MVP-Skylar Diggins-Smith, Guard, Seattle Storm $9,000

Talented Seattle guard Skylar Diggins-Smith has been the leader in the backcourt that the Seattle Storm have needed to win games this season. Let’s review Diggins-Smith’s game data from the 2024 WNBA regular season to better illustrate my previous statement.

In the 40 games that Skylar Diggins-Smith played for the Seattle Storm in the 2024 WNBA regular season, Diggins-Smith averaged a robust 33.1 FanDuel points a game.

These two teams met two days ago in the first game of this WNBA playoff series. Who prevailed? How did Seattle guard Skylar Diggins-Smith play in the game?  In the Las Vegas Aces 78-67 victory over the Seattle Storm earlier this week, Diggins-Smith tallied an impressive 16 points, four rebounds, eight assists, one steal and two blocks.

Looking closer at the data just presented, in the Aces win over the Storm just noted, Skylar Diggins-Smith compiled a massive 38.8 FanDuel points. It has to be said, those are the type of DFS numbers I need to see from a player that I select at the MVP position for a one game WNBA FanDuel contest.

As I noted in the rules section above, selecting the correct player at the MVP position for a FanDuel WNBA showdown lineup is absolutely vital if you hope to win a large field GPP (guaranteed prize pool) DFS contest. Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for tonight’s game.

In summary, I like Skylar Diggins-Smith’s chances of continuing to play quality basketball versus the Las Vegas Aces later today. For that specific reason, I am backing Seattle Storm guard Skylar Diggins-Smith at the MVP position for this one game FanDuel WNBA DFS contest.

Star-A’ja Wilson, Forward, Las Vegas Aces $11,500

In the 38 games that Las Vegas forward A’ja Wilson played for the Las Vegas Aces in the 2024 WNBA regular season, Wilson averaged a whopping 26.6 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.8 steals, and 2.7 blocks a game.

From a general perspective, I like Wilson’s matchup in this WNBA playoff game. Why? Aces forward A’ja Wilson will face a Seattle Storm defense that has struggled on the defensive side of the basketball at times this season.

Upon the completion of 40 games played in the 2024 WNBA regular season, the Seattle Storm ranked eighth in team defensive rebounding percentage (70%), ninth in total opponent second chance points allowed a contest (10.9), and tenth in total points allowed in the paint a game (38.1). What did we learn from the data just presented? Clearly, the Seattle Storm are not a good defensive basketball team entering tonight’s WNBA playoff game.

Flex plays I like to play well (FanDuel price noted): Jackie Young, Guard (Las Vegas Aces) $7,000: Nneka Ogwumike, Forward (Seattle Storm) $8,500.
