The 2014 WGC Bridgestone Invitational will take place this week and provide some sweet opportunities to make some serious cash as we start heading into football season. Rory McIlroy opens up as the favorite with odds of +600, but of course, we’re looking at some of the longer shots to help really fatten our pockets.
Here are some players you should include on this week’s card.
USA TODAY Sports
Sergio Garcia - Sergio Garcia is having his most consistent season of his career, as he’s now finished in second place in his last two events and has seven Top 10 finishes in his 11 courses played. At the very least, Garcia is going to make things very interesting and be in the running this week to make you some cash. Garcia is building some serious momentum heading down the home stretch, and he’s 4th in greens in regulation and leads the PGA Tour in scoring average. Why Garcia is +2500 to win this tournament is beyond me, but I’ll take those odds in a heartbeat.
Martin Kaymer – Another golfer who is getting odds of +2500 this week is Martin Kaymer. Yup, the same player who has won two of his last four events this season. Kaymer won the Players Championship and the U.S. Open, proving that he should be taken seriously and is more than capable of more wins before this season comes to an end. Kaymer has finished in the Top 10 in three of his 13 events this year and of course two of those finishes resulted in wins. After a poor showing at The Open, expect to see a more focused Kaymer this week. Take the odds while you still can.
Tiger Woods – We’re getting Tiger Woods at odds of +1600. Yes, Tiger isn’t the same Tiger from many years ago, but he is the defending his crown on this course from last year and has won this event eight times. Four times since it became the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Even with somebody struggling as much as Tiger, a player that talented and somebody who knows the course extremely well, has as good of a chance to win as anybody. I’m backing Tiger this week and not looking back.
