The 2014 Wyndham Championship takes place this week and if you can pick the winner, you’re going to leave with a ton of money in your pocket. Brandt Snedeker is the favorite, and he opens up at odds of +1200, which sounds good to me.
Here are some golfers you should include on this week’s card in hopes of maximizing your chances to cash in big.
USA TODAY Sports
Patrick Reed – Patrick Reed won this event last year with a -14, and he’s having his best year of his career this season. Reed has two wins under his belt that came earlier in the year, and he recently tied for fourth at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Reed is sixth on the PGA tour in eagles (holes per), and he’s ninth in the FedEx season points. United States golfers have done extremely well at this tournament, winning 15 of the last 23, and it has experienced nine different golfers who have won at least twice. Here’s to hoping Reed can become the 10th golfer to double up at the Wyndham Championship. Odds are currently at a healthy +2000.
Brian Harman - Brian Harman has fallen off a cliff since winning the John Deere Classic a month ago, finishing no better than 26th in his last three events. However, Harman has had his good points this season, as he’s racked up six Top 10 finishes in 28 events this season and has made the cut 20 times. Harman also has the second most birdies of anyone on tour with 344. In other words, Harman is capable of playing good golf when the mood strikes. Harman also finished third at this event last season. I’ll take my chances with odds of +3500.
Brandt Snedeker – I usually shy away from the overall favorite, but we’re getting Brandt Snedeker of odds of +1200. How can you go wrong here? Snedeker has really taking his game into another gear lately, racking up four Top 15 finishes in his last seven events, which includes two straight Top 15 finishes. Snedeker has shot under par in five of his last eight events and has two Top 10 finishes this season. To top it all off, Snedeker does have success at the Wyndham Championship, as he won the tournament in 2007. It’s not often you get a hot player and a former winner at these odds. Take advantage of it while you can.
