Golfers meetup this week in North Carolina to play in the Wyndham Championship. This event has produced some nice long shot winners as of late, which is good news for us bettors.
Here are some golfers you should consider putting on your card this week.
Sheboygan Press Media
Brooks Koepka - When was the last time you could get the overall favorite for odds of +1400? The answer is almost never. Well, that’s what you can get this week with Brooks Koepka. Koepka has placed back-to-back top six finishes and has seven top-10 finishes in 18 events played overall. Koepka has missed the cut just once all season. Koepka is seventh in driving distance, third in scoring average and fifth in all-around ranking. You’d be crazy not to throw some coin on Koepka with these odds, as he’s easily one of the hotter golfers in the world right now.
Adam Scott - See Koepka above.
Webb Simpson - Webb Simpson isn’t having the best year of his life, but he did win this event back in 2011 and has top-11 finishes in four of his last five appearances at the Wyndham Championship. Simpson has just seven top-25 finishes in 18 events played and has missed the cut three times. However, Simpson did have a second-place finish at the Wells Fargo Championship. Simpson is 15th in total driving and seventh in strokes gained: tee to green. Given Simpson’s overall history on this course, odds of +2400 seem to be quite tasty.
Justin Thomas - Justin Thomas has put together three straight top-25 finishes, which includes a fifth-place finish at the John Deere Classic and fourth-place finish at the Quicken Loans National. Thomas is playing some of his more consistent golf as of late and has made the cut in 19 of his 26 events played. Thomas is seventh in birdie average, seventh in all-around ranking and 19th in driving distance. In somewhat of a weak and wide open field, Thomas and odds of +2800 seem good to me. This could very well be the week Thomas gets his first PGA victory of his young career.
Tiger Woods - Tiger Woods will make his first career appearance at the Wyndham Championship as he hopes to qualify for the playoffs. Yes, we know Tiger has been brutal for a while and is coming off a rough performance at the PGA Championship. However, Tiger has been decent after coming off tough performances, which includes a 32nd place finish at the Greenbrier and 18th place finish at the QuickLoans National. It’s not pretty, but Tiger Woods has shown flashes of getting his game back on track. In a weak field, give me Tiger with odds of +6000 this week.
