It’s now time for the FedEx playoffs and the first tournament that tees off is The Barclays. This should be fun after a solid and entertaining week at the Wyndham Championship.
Here are some golfers to consider throwing on your card this week.
USA TODAY Sports
Bubba Watson - With a loaded field, Bubba Watson is kind of buried this week with odds of +2800. Watson has finished 21st or better in each of his last three events, which includes second place finishes at the WGC-Bridgestone and RBC Canadian Open. Overall, Watson has 11 top-25 finishes in 15 events and seven top-10 finishes. Watson is second in driving distance, second in eagles and eighth in all-around ranking. Watson has been one of the more consistent golfers all season and is certainly worth a strong look with these surprising odds.
Tony Finau - If you’re looking for an even juicer line this week, Tony Finau is worth a look with odds of +9500. Finau is coming off a 10th place finish at the PGA Championship and has nine top-25 finishes in his last 11 events. Finau is eighth in driving distance and 10th in birdie average. Although Finau has just one professional win under his belt, he’s playing some of his best golf at this moment and packs some value this week with the current line.
Matt Kuchar - Matt Kuchar is another golfer in good form who comes with solid odds of +3500. Kuchar has posted two seventh-place finishes in his last three events, which includes the PGA Championship. Kuchar won at the Ridgewood Country Club in 2010 and finished runner-up at the Plainfield Country Club in 2011. Kuchar is fifth in eagles, fourth in sand save percentage and eighth in all-around ranking. Kuchar is a golfer who could really shine in these playoffs, especially given his history on these courses.
Jordan Spieth - Jordan Spieth has finished in the top-five in five of his last six events, which includes wins at the US Open and John Deere Classic. Spieth has 14 top-10 finishes in 21 events played and is at the top of the Official World Golf Ranking for a reason. Spieth is first in total strokes gained, first in scoring average and third in all-around ranking. Even though he’s the overall favorite this week, odds of +565 are still pretty good for a guy who is certainly going to be in the thick of it until the very end.
Jim Furyk - Speaking of good form, Jim Furyk has a top-five finish in three of his last six events and has missed the cut just twice in 16 events overall. Furyk has finished fourth or better in two of his last three events, proving he’s finding his groove lately. Furyk is is seventh in total strokes gained, 21st in driving accuracy percentage and fourth in strokes gained: tee-to-green. You can get Furyk with odds of +3800, which is impressive for a golfer hitting his stride lately.
