We’re going to stay in sunny California this weekend when the Farmers Insurance Open tees off. As usual, there’s plenty of value out there with some of the top golfers in the world.
Here are some golfers you should include on your card.
USA TODAY Sports
Bill Haas - Bill Haas is off to an impressive 2016 with two top-10 finishes in his last three events, which includes a ninth place finish at the CareerBuilder Challenge. As for Torrey Pines Golf Course, Haas has three top-10 finishes and four top-20 finishes. Haas is currently third in driving accuracy percentage and fourth in scrambling around the green. I’ll take a shot with Haas with odds of +3800.
Phil Mickelson - Phil Mickelson has won the Farmers Insurance Open three times. The only person who won on this course more is Tiger Woods with seven victories. Mickelson also finished runner-up back in 2011. Mickelson also finished third in the CareerBuilder Challenge, proving that he still has a little something left in the tank. Given his history on this course, you have to throw something Mickelson’s way with odds of +1900.
Brandt Snedeker - Brandt Snedeker enters this course in great form, as he finished third at the Hyundai Tournament and second at the Sony Open. That’s great news considering Snedeker won the Farmers Insurance Open in 2012, and he was runner-up in 2013 and 2010. Overall, Snedeker has four top-three finishes on this course, making him the most consistent player at this event over the last decade. Snedeker is a very solid bet with odds of +1600.
Charles Howell III - Charles Howell III was runner-up at the Farmers Insurance Open in 2007 and 2005. Howell has played this course 13 times and has yet to miss the cut. Howell is also the highest earning player on this course without a victory. Currently, Howell is 10th in scoring average. You have to bet Howell this week given his history, especially when he’s getting odds of +5000.
Scott Stallings - Our big boy longshot this week will be Scott Stallings, who you can get with odds of +9500. Stallings won the Farmers Insurance Open in 2014 and finished runner-up last year. In six trips on Torrey Pines Golf Course, Stallings has an average score just over 70. Stallings withdrew from the CareerBuilder Challenge due to illness, but if he’s able to give it a go this week, his large odds make him a max value bet.
